Nfc south

Recommended Posts

This past season we played in a division that nearly got 3 teams to the playoffs, and people expected great things for both New Orleans and Atlanta. Apart from the obvious (we lost duh), what do you think was the reason for the combined poor play in the post season?

I can honestly say both losses surprised me, and based on the allegded shift in power from the nfc east to nfc south, i would like to see your take on it.

Flare, some days a team just sucks and some days they shine. I think that term Any Given Sunday is more profound than we realize.

The Saints traveled west and hit a fired up Seattle team at home on the wrong day. The Hawks were hot and felt disrespected and they played with everything they have on that day and they outplayed the Saints.

The Packers had already lost once to the Falcons and they were fired up after the win against the Eagles. The Falcons were coming off a week where an ice storm had disrupted their practice all week - and they came out flat and lifeless against a team playing at the top of their game. The combination resulted in a beatdown of ultimate proportions.

Both games reflected a poor performance by the NFC South and a great performance by the team they were playing.

I don't believe either game was a true reflection of the ability of the losing team - but more a reflection of the great effort given by the team they played.

We'll know more if we have football this year.

Our division played a weaker division in the NFC WEST . I cant really talk for the Saints but the loss of Pierre Thomas hurt there offense there defense wasnt the same either causing turn overs. As for us we played a weak NFC west that bloated our regular season record.. We just ran into a better QB who was playing at a all time high . Our own QB made 2 crucial ints and 1 that basically sealed the game for Packers at half. Our defense did lil to help out , we missed countless sacks on Rodgers. Our corners were abused mentally and physically . There really is no telling how this team will bounce back . We were 13-3 at home field throughout in a dome we rarely lose at with this regimen . Our QB who we have relied on some much had a poor game .Its crucial he bounces back as well

The whole process this regimen stress was brought to a stand still with that playoff loss. Now we will see what we truly have ..Will the Packers playoff loss be the downfall of this current staff. Our GM is treating it like its a win now team by trading away future draft picks for a upgrade at 2wr .

We did not get a 13-3 record from a bloated schedule. While we played the NFC West - because you play the teams you are scheduled to play - we also played 7 games against a team that made it to the playoffs in the regular season, including the 2 eventual Super Bowl teams.

No matter what happened in the post season - what our team accomplished in the regular season should not be undermined. As it has been said time and time again - there is very little difference in the talent level of the worst team in the NFL and the best team. Winning 13 games in the NFL in a single season is not a simple task in any year against any opponent.

we were also 4-3 vs teams that were a playoff team .

Generally, if you have an even record against playoff teams, you'll be 11-5 or better. The name of the game is to beat all "losing teams" and split with the winning teams, and you'll average being 12-4.

that is true ..we can only play who is on our schedule . NFC west was a cupcake though in one of weakest divisions of all time and we walked through that division 4-0 . Games like that did not test our football club and could be just part of the equation why we fell short vs Green Bay ( who we did beat in regular season) They were battled tested and came out of Philly with confidence and swagger that we couldnt handle .

Packers final regular season record = 10-6

Falcons final regular season record = 13-3

Packers regular season record against playoff teams = 3-3

Falcons regular season record against playoff teams = 4-3

Packers regular season record against teams with a winning record = 4-3

Falcons regular season record against teams with a winning record = 5-3

Packers regular season record against teams with a losing record = 6-3 (9 total)

Falcons regular season record against teams with a losing record = 8-0 (8 total)

Any given Sunday.

The Packers came in hot and we came out flat. We blew it. The only consolation I take from it is that the team we lost to went on to win the SB. I just hope they correct our flaws and we come out stronger this season - IF there is a season.

In all fairness dude, the fact that you can say the 4 games against the west didnt test our team should show how much our team has grown over the last few seasons. A couple years ago we where just praying to have an 8-8 record, yet last year we were 13-3 and are sitting here argueing about the strength of schedule. That should tell you right there that this team is on the rise and is going to be very hard to deal with for years to come. We met the wrong team on the wrong day. If we played that game 10 more times I bet it would be pretty close to a split. They just had our number that day. We will regroup and come out better than ever. (if the selfish *** owners and players ever make come to a ******* deal)

I agree . I have more confidence under this regimen and this QB then I ever had in the past cause we rarely fall victim to a team that is not on our level . You also have to factor in Green Bay was a walking injury they were playing without there rb and without there stud TE . The west helped out our bloated record. .I understand a record is a record and we are what we are but our flaws werent exposed vs teams like that and as we got hot and our team started to gel they truly werent tested outside New Orleans game late .

Green Bay can turn to the Pats game where they lost without there starting QB and can take things from that loss

They also went into Philly wildcard weekend and won that game and there confidence was booming high

I cant predict the future but Im pretty confident saying this regimen wont see a 13-3 record again and home FIELD THROUGH OUT PLAYOFFS ... that Packer loss will always hurt cause of what we could have in front of us .

actually the 49ers had a roller coaster year and just happened to lose the close games they could have won, one of those games being against us. I think Mike Singletary did the best he could with a team full of scrubs.

What happened in the playoffs is the packers got in period, my super bowl predictions have been right the past 3 years and last year it was falcons-steelers with a steelers win but the pack got in and no body was going to stop them, i say we would have beaten the seahawks and even the vick lead eagles, but no body was stopping the packers, plus our defense was horribly coached in that game and owens filling in at nickel helped them destroy us.
