RockandRollJames
He may be an upgrade for your team, I guess I don't really know your DE situation that well. However, I am convinced that whoever gets him will be overpaying and will have their expectations set too high.

atljbo
Me too and I agree and have been telling these guys the same thing! He's a good player and all, but not what these guys think. The Vikes had a bad year last year and the defense stayed on the field a lot! He should have done better. He whiffs, he doesn't break free often and even media heads called him the weak link next year. Good depth guy, but not good enough for this vaudevillian activity in his name.Jbo, its fine you think I'm underrating him but when you start with the torches and pitchforks because he doesn't live up to unrealistic expectations remember this convo. I expect 3-5 sacks in this rotation and his skillset no excuses. If he does better I'll be VERY happy, but I'm not going to put on the DE Goggles for this one.You are talking like im on that Edwards bandwagon... Ive stated im not as high on the guy as most and that i rather have Charles Johnson any day.... I'm just giving the guy his due... I think he could help usThe guy will bring more then 3 sacks... He will give us the 7+ sacks.. I talk to Vikings fans in RL every day who aren't on board with the guys on the MB.okSome dont like the guy... Some do... Fans are fans... Most are pissed how the guy keep running his mouth about wanting out... I dont like all the talking either. You are taking what im saying the wrong ... Ill rather go after Charles or Kiwi (if healthy first) .. I'm not a HUGE Edwards fan... Even tho im not a fan doesnt mean i dont think he could help us... I think the guy can help us.. Thats all im saying

He got 8 as an active starter and gets more snaps than Biermann. Robison looked better overall. Then you take into account that the team was three and out a lot last year. Then the system as WAY different. Same TYPE of defense, but completely different system. I like him overall and think that he will be a nice addition. I still say 3-5 sacks. With Davis and Biermann (sometimes Anderson) ratating that could give us 10-12 on that side.I don't like the heavy rotation and I think we should find someone better and stop rotating or get a rotation player and not a big name. You don't need a big name with a big purse if he may not even see a full series...like here.

The starter will get atleast around 60% of the snaps ... Guys like Johnson or Edwards can also rush from the inside on some downs... Another thing.. We run a heavy rotation because we dont have a guy that can do both consistently (with Abe its about preserving him) ... If we had a player that can run and rush.. I have no doubt the rotation would be cut down some. But whoever we get (if its a Johnson or Edwards) ... They will get their snaps.. We will rotate because guys like Biermann and hopefully Sid can contribute but the starters will get his snaps.... Also with guys like Johnson, Edwards, and Kiwi... They can rush from the inside also (have your athletes on the field Giants style) .And naw man.. You are just expressing your opinions... d#d#d#
I am a Vikings fan and really do not understand all of the Ray Edwards love. He is OK. He has been our worst DL starter and benefits from opposing offenses having to worry about the 3 other guys. He puts together 4 or 5 good games a season and then disappears for most of the rest. He is starter worthy in the NFL, but I don't see him improving a defense much at all. Plus, he is a jackass that us fans don't like to put up with (and I had this opinion before he said he wasn't going to play for us). I am a Brian Robison fan (the guy mentioned in the article), so I am fine letting Ray go. He won't be worth the money that he is set to make. You might be a Vikings fan, but you are clueless nonetheless...
d#d#d#
I dont mind putting it out there...I think Ray Edwards can give us double digit sacks consistently if he is signed by the Falcons. Ive watched plenty of Vikes games and all i see is explosion, athleticism and a great work ethic. Jared Allen knows his game just a lot tougher, because out of anyone, he was the real benefactor of having a REAL LE. Something Atlanta hasnt had since Kerney bolted... Edwards/Johnson will change the entire attitude of the team and will tighten everything up imoI dont give 2 tosses about what the odd Vikes fan says about him, or the odd Falcon fan for that matter. To me its like someone telling me Abraham is no good. In one ear out the other...Anyone who would rather sign Kiwanuka before Edwards needs their head read. That is just lol worthy. I can understand the Johnson talk because his play last season was nothing short of beastly, but Kiwi shouldnt even be in the conversation... kiwifalcon
Ray Edwards would be a good pick up for us no doubt but the guy if we have a shot at him whose the perfect fit in the Falcon mold....drum roll please......is.......Mathais Kiwanuka he is the guy that would fit our LDE needs perfectly and brings impact and work ethic with him no ego just straight up blue collar worker and would balance out our D-line perfectly.I like Ray Edwards alot especially in big games he seems to make huge impact which is a good thing but I have to agree with our Vikings fan earlier comments he will disappear in some games now if I balance this out vs what Kiwanuka would bring I think I'd take the latter.I do not add Charles Johnson in this equation as I do not see the Panthers letting Johnson go anywhere let alone to a division rival they will hold onto him the Panthers so for alot of Falcon fans I'm sorry but I just don't see him being a Falcon. I think Kiwi will be another Ed Hartwell and be a constant injury for the rest of his career. Anyone who has suffered a serious neck injury is one hit away from the unemployment line...The dude hasnt shown as much as Edwards and is a couple of year older. raysnill1
I love how people forget that Allen gets shut down easily by better lines and tends to have 2 or 3 three BIG games a year that pad his stats. dude got 7.5 sacks against the Packers alone one season when their line was struggling then got 2 more against CHI and finished out the year with 14 sacks, that means over the course of 14 games he only got 5 more sacks lol. dude is good but he's pretty much over-rated like Clay Matthews
chifalc
Pat Williams won't be there either and Allen feels that LE is one position they'll be okay at. Man those articles. What do you expect him to say exactly? I would answer...THIS...All he had to say was "Well, of course he has the right to go out and get his."He didn't need to elaborate. RockandRollJames
You might be a Vikings fan, but you are clueless nonetheless...Really? Because I have watched every game of his career. You cannot say the same. From what I've read on here, it sounds like you don't have much at DE outside of Abraham. So he will probably be an upgrade. As long as you are fine overpaying for a pretty good DE then you should be happy if you get him. He is still young so that's another positive.Ray Edwards is a good football player. All I am saying is that you will be overpaying him. He is a jackass sometimes, but honestly I don't really care. Do not expect double digit sacks from him. He MIGHT get there a season or two, but no more than that. I wouldn't have listed him as one of our top 5 defenders last year so the hype he is receiving is confusing me a little. Also, Jared Allen is definitely losing it a little. He's a little overrated now.
