How the heII did Tebow get in there? At #3 no less?

I can't stand casual fans!

I can see why Freeman didn't get in seeing as the market he plays in and the small amount of exposure he gets.

Newton and Tebow had a HUGE following in college (especially Tebow), I'm sure a lot of those followers are following them into the pros as well.

Freeman didn't have as big a following as Tebow, or even Newton coming out of college, he has had to work hard for his fame, by proving himself on the field. Is it fair? Not totally. It will be all the sweeter for Buc fans though, when Freeman is a huge name in the nfl. Because, everyone would know, that like Brees, Freeman earned every ounce of respect and fame he gets.

The same can be said about Tony Romo's work ethic. To get where he is took slot of hard work and dedication. It seems strange to me that he is always bashed for not working hard. Nobody really know what goes on and I don't recall teammates questioning that work ethic. Well besides Bennett who has no work ethic and no room to talk.

Yep. Romo is another one that has earned a lot of his fame. Some will claim that the major reason Romo is a big name is because he plays for the Cowboys, and I'm sure that has a "little" to do with it, but, Romo has had 5 seasons with a 91 qb rating or higher. I think a qb has to play well in order to hold the starting job on the Cowboys that long, with so much fan approval. Jones, the Cowboy fans, don't take no sh1t.

That is the problem with the NFL. People gaining status for no reason, like your Reggie Bust's, and now apparently Cam...

What about Bush's status? Most of the popularity and fans he got were from his college days, he earned that popularity and those fans as a college athlete........ It's not like they were just going to disappear when he became a pro football player.

Right, let them earn something first...

 Instant Nationwide popularity like that(like the kind Tebow, Newton,Bush had) isn't something earned on the pro football field. It's the following they acquired as college players.

You underestimate the die hard fans that really nerd it up in their support of certain college players.

I have a friend, life long Gspots fan, that now roots for the Broncos too just because of Tebow. I expect him to come out of the closet any moment now...

That's almost as bad as a life long Foreskins fan becoming a Falcons fan because of Jeff George, like some else we know around here.laugh.gif

Believe me I understand it all too well. Living off their college laurels like Reggie Bust did! Hopefully you do not have the same failure in Cam!

That's totally up to the individual player. So far, Newton has been working nonstop, learning the playbook, practicing.

Bush.....I never thought he could live up to the hype, some were calling him the next Barry Sanders, who can live up to those expectations?. Newton, while extremely popular, isn't "hyped up" as being the next big thing. He has all the tools, and his potential is higher than almost every qb of the last decade or so, but, he's a question mark. Like every rookie should be, like Bush should have been.

They aint been that down. They have won 86 games over the last decade and finished 1st in the NFCS three times.

WFW sometimes confuses "last year" with "last decade". B)

Humorously enough, the Falcons are one of the few teams that have been without a playoff win longer than the Panthers.
