cnst
I think it was Mel Kiper who predicted the Rookies of the Year, 2011 on this morning's show. For defense he thought it would be Von Miller. For offensive R.O.Y. it was our very own Jacquizz Rodgers. I'll take it.

didz
Jacquizz Rodgers rookie of the year? We better give him the ball more than just a 3rd down back. Aw just start him.
FlyHighFalcons
In all actuality, neither Jacquizz nor Julio are going to be guys that we need to see rookie of the year numbers out of. Jacquizz isn't going to get the ball enough to get rookie of the year so that's a henous prediction, and Julio is a number two receiver that we just need to compliment and take pressure off Roddy. If Julio gets it, that's definitely good, but we shouldn't be expecting it.

With the skill level of Rodgers, his versatility, and the fact he only fumbled one time, Why not make him the starter if he pans out, and in the fourth quarter, if you have a good lead, pound em with Turner. My lineup would be, RW and JJ as your wideouts, Jenkins in the slot, TG at TE, Ryan and Rodgers in the backfield, with a healthy offensive line, the fact that Rodgers can run the ball tough, he's hard to find out of the backfield, and just as important he can catch the ball out of the backfield, I like the thought of him as the starter with his versatility over Turner now that you bring it up. He gives you a more potent, versatile, explosive offense when you want to put points on the board early, Turner can help pound em in the dirt late in games or when we have had opposing defenses on the field for long stretches. If he pans out and this wishful theory holds true, I could see where he could be rookie of the year and benefit greatly from MRyan and our imposing wr core. THE ICEMAN
It depends on how much the Falcons throw the ball I think he'll be in there on passing downs but he'll also need to able to pick up the Blitz as well thats something that Tuner does very well
kierstendawg
I jst hope Jrodgers can stand the hits of the NFL & not be Norwood 2.0.That is what will make or break him. Warrick Dunn did just fine and I think Rodgers is thicker and stronger and if you watch his high light reals, although college level, he looks like he will be fine, but it is a question mark without a doubt. Pro Defenses are a lot more complex, and blitz are disguised a lot more, so I think he will be fine but whether he excels at it remains to be seen. As far as how much we throw the ball, We will always be give or take, 50/50 run/pass as long as MM is our OC. I don't care if we had 5 pro-bowl wr's, his offense is predicated on run first, play action. That is the way it will always be and that is what will make our passing game reach it's greatest potential in efficiency. If you can run the ball well and teams respect that, and you have a great wr core, it makes your passing game that much better, it allows them to be more explosive and have more yards per catch. You have to be able to run the ball first, and if you can, I don't care what teams try and do to prepare, they will never know if you are going to pass or run and they will have to respect the play action every time you do it, they will bite, thus opening up downfield for our wr's to make big plays. I would bet anything I have we will never have a year where we run less than 40% if the time, never with MM, and if we did, it will mean we got behind early almost every game on our schedule. One other thing is how big MM is on ball control and Time of Pos. Edited May 21, 2011 by kierstendawg
abcranford2
the thing that hurt norwood was his extremely long legs...he's very prone to taking dangerous hits...rodgers is very small with shorter legs, which means his center of balance is way lower than norwoods and is less likely to take those dangerous hits around the thigh and knee areas

Turner, Snelling, and Rodgers are all going to be in depending on the situation and exhaustion of the others. They will all contribute, it doesn't really matter who is in on the opening play of the game.

Radical
Julio is a number two receiver that we just need to compliment and take pressure off Roddy. If Julio gets it, that's definitely good, but we shouldn't be expecting it.How often do you have a WR as talented as Julio in this kind of situation. Now often do you see an elite WR prospect come into a situation where...- They aren't expected to be the #1 WR- They instantly are the #2 receiving option- They are on a well established offense with great coaching- They are catching passes from an upper-tier borderline elite QB. - They are being mentored by an already dominant #1 WRThe closest circumstance I can think of is Randy Moss going to Minnesota with Cris Carter being an elite, #1 WR, Randall Cunningham at QB, and Dennis Green and his staff coaching. If we can get anywhere else to 70 catches, 1300 yards, and 17 TDs out of Jones, I'd say he's a ROY lock. Granted, Randy Moss was easily the most talented WR to ever step onto the football field, but my point still remains.

There have been plenty of very talented number two receivers. Let's take off the homer goggles and realize that we aren't the first to have a good player like Jones on our roster. AllStarHandyMan
i hate to say it but Jacquizz Rodgers is not going to get that title he is a 3rd back... and why would we start him? Turner puts 8 man box up... the rookie has not done nothing! Turner helps are passing a lot just cause of the fear that we are going to run it we did it for 3 season and will not stop!!! UptownHardHitta
He can be very good. I could see him winning roy. I just hope MM keeps up with his lame playcalling. If his skills translate to the NFL, he could be a very very good addition to your offense. I think most are sleeping on him. I used to like him in college. Now I must hate him.If he's good, he'll be in the game far more than just 3rd downs. Edited May 22, 2011 by UptownHardHitta

Draftnut57
Evreybody knows I love Big time D line players. But I will have to say I don't think I've ever been as excited about getting to see a first rd pick of ours play. Julio has gifts as a WR that I have never seen any other WR have, He is a combo between , T.O. and Fitzgerald with a 11'3 B.J. And then to get a player like Rogers in the 5th, I am really anxious to see these two guys play.

I know a lot of people are going to say "well we still need a defensive end", but how can you possibly be a fan of this team and of football in general and NOT be excited about watching this offense this season?
