BucdUp
I'm taking Aaron Rogers. Best football player in the NFL right now, IMO. Makes everyone around him better, ala Manning, Brady, and Brees. As mentally sound as any of those 3, stronger arm than Brees and Manning, plus mobility.
Big_L
Not to be a homer but I'd take Brees. His leadership makes up for a physical shortcoming. He is mentally at the apex of NFL QBs.
SaintRay
As hard as this would be to do as a massive Drew Brees fan, and only because of NFL expected longevity, I'd also take Rogers at this point. If I were a GM building a team with my pick of anyone, I'd be looking for guys who have 6-8 great years left in them, leadership, community driven, solid citizens, above average IQ's and a huge passion for the sport they play in. Laugher
I would take either Brees or Rodgers. These 2 QB's make something out of nothing, no running game no problem they can do it. They don't need 2 # 1 receivers to try to put them over the top Allah Matt Ryan. They also win when it matters.

Guest jb aka johnnybuc
That's sounds alot like....hmmmmmmmm...Who's completion % drops like an anchor on passes over 20 yards, Who can't win a playoff game to save his life.......and $hits his pants he gets so frightened during a game. Yeah that's who I want guiding my team!

DD: Objective Elite
Tom Brady, multiple SB MVP's, never had a losing season as a starter and a hardcore competitor.
Buc-man™®
Im sorey, but thats honestly my opinion. Give me one QB in the league and its gona be freman.Kid is a winner from top to bottom, thats the difference

SaintRay
You just named Rodgers, Ice, Flacco, who have 6-8 years left and also fit the other categories you mentioned. Please review my post. You NEVER saw any mention of Matty Melt or Flacco. I heavily weighted the notion of a proven winner as a basis when considering my choice. That leaves the love of your life out of the mix.
Big Bubba
I'd take Rodgers. Elite player with more years left than the other elite qbs (Peyton, Brees, Brady)

falconboogie
I would have to say Rogers, with all the injuries, and his playoff and SB run was impressive. I couldn't pick Brees, because he isn't Breesus without a running game.

I couldn't pick Brees, because he isn't Breesus without a running game.Brees had problems last year due to a bad kneelook at the 2007 and 2008 season where he was statistically phenomenal with no running game and still came within a few yards of breaking Marino's record

His decision making was horrible on the ints, he seemed to be doing his best impression of Favre. For me, it wasn't just that they happened, it was the way they happened. IMO, Brees is too much of perfectionist to play like he did in those instances last season. For example, the games he had against us. In both games, Brees in 100yrs wouldn't make those types of ints. Brees is Breesus with a running game, he seemed to be forcing it last season, hence the ints..his most ever in his career.

strat1080
I would have to go with Rodgers with Brees as a close second, although Rivers makes a strong push for that spot. Brady and Manning are a bit older than I'd like if I could have any QB to build a team around.Rodgers is the ultimate cornerstone of the NFL. A 27 year old guy that already owns the highest career passer rating in the regular season and postseason in NFL history. A Super Bowl MVP. He has all the tools. Probably the most complete talent at the QB position since John Elway. Quite possibly the strongest arm in the NFL with upper echelon accuracy. Lightning fast release and very good mobility. Among the best in the NFL before the snap. He really is the complete package and is just 27 years old. The only knock is that he is a bit like a younger Steve Young in that he doesn't take care of himself and takes risks while scrambling. He got his 2nd concussion of the season while scrambling about 10 yards past the 1st down marker. The nice thing about Rodgers, very much like Drew Brees is that his play steps up a notch in the postseason. Rodgers has thrown for over 1500 yards with 13 TDs, 3 INTs, and a ridiculous 112 passer rating in 5 playoff games. That is over 300 YPG and nearly 3 TDs per playoff game. He has already eclipsed the Packers playoff record for passing yardage in two games and is one of only two QBs in NFL history to complete over 80% of his passes as well as throw for 300+ yards in a playoff game. The guy has simply been amazing in the playoffs. Even in the game he lost in the Wild Card round to Arizona back in 09.

He suffered at times in decision making after the Running Backs went down, but go back and watch the games if you don't believe me. He had AT LEAST 8 tipped ball interceptions that hit receivers in or near the hands.

From the 09 season, this seemed very uncharacteristic of him.
strat1080
No Manning?Manning is 35 years old. What GM in their right mind would choose a 35 year old QB, given the choice of any QB in the NFL? It has to be a guy like Rodgers, Brees, or Rivers. I like Ben but given his recent legal trouble I would probably put Freeman, Flacco, and Ryan ahead of him. I have to agree with Kurt Warner, that Ben hasn't really proven he can carry a team. Any time the Steelers have given up over 18 PPG they have missed the playoffs with Ben at the helm. I personally think Peyton Manning is one of the most overhyped players in NFL history. He constantly gets credit for doing so much with so little but people overlook how much talent he plays with on offense. Bill Polian has overlooked the defense while trying to give Manning weapons to put up gaudy offensive numbers. Manning basically played with two WRs that were All-Pro talents as well as one of the Top 5 TEs in the NFL. In comparison are his numbers really all that better than guys like Brees, Brady, and Rodgers who have less talent around them. Rodgers has close to the talent level on offense than Manning does but he really hasn't had the equivalent of Harrison, Wayne, and Clark to throw to. Harrison is a HOF WR. Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark have been Top 5 at their positions for quite some time. Brady, Brees, and Rodgers really don't have that kind of talent on offense. None of them have a Top 5 guy at the WR or TE position. The closest is Greg Jennings but he really isn't in that elite group of Top 5 WRs. Again, Peyton Manning is highly overrated. I really don't know where that myth that he doesn't have a good team came from. The Colts won the Super Bowl in spite of Manning's play in the playoffs. Seriously he threw 3 TDs and 7 INTs in that 2006 playoff run when they won the Super Bowl. In the Colts last Super Bowl against the Saints he threw 1 TD and 1 INT. The INT, of course was a pick six. I don't understand why some people hold the guy in such high regard. He really hasn't done all that much in the playoffs. In two Super Bowls, he has thrown a combined 2 TDs and 2 INTs. At this point, I think Brees and Rodgers have surpassed him. I think Brady, Brees and Rodgers are the Top 3 QBs in the NFL. I really don't know what Manning has done in the last 5 years to warrant being ranked ahead of Rodgers and Brees. The playoff numbers and record just aren't there for Manning. Big_L
thats what she said..At least Drew's wife is female and human. Didn't Mattie's old lady try to win the triple crown last year?
