atlshocker
Tired of everyone complaining about our pass rush. Not saying its great. What I am saying is its hard to get a sack when teams are just throwing short outs all day on us. Why are they doing this? Because we play 10 yards off WR's all year. My true opinion is if we do not replace our D coordinator and stop grimes from starting, We will get murdered once again by a elite QB in the playoffs. Grimes made a few plays, mostly when the ball was thrown right to him. For the most part, I seen him get burnt play after play. As far as the draft goes. Its cool we got Julio Jones. I hate we gave so much for him. We will need those picks next year. And can anyone explain why we got a ILB in the draft. If you ask me Curtis Lofton is one of the best in league. I could go on and on. Had to get this off my chest.
Karst41
In part I can agree about our DC BVG.BVG is not aggressive at the line, but 2 things come to mind.I feel that your slant on grimes is skewed/ because he is fantasticin coverage. However Grimes is a feisty little feller, but if you have him try tojam on the receivers too often he could get knocked down, and that would leave the receiver wide open for an easy 6.No team in the NFL is perfect. If you cant get the push up the middle or collapse the edges then youhave to compensate.Blitzes and or bump and run, buys that extra time to get pressure on the QB.But also the DE's have to contain the QB.Counter ? >
Herr Doktor
I agree. If you go back and watch the packers game, we had Rodgers sacked at least six times. Nicholas missed two, Willie mo missed a sure sack and we blew a few more. We are getting to the qb, just not planting his ***!
revo3
Definitely agree with you to some degree. Our defense was also not as exposed last year because of our time consuming offense. Green Bay and Philly found ways to show how easily elite offenses can cut through us. Grimes is a good cornerback however. He's just too small to play jam and run and BVG has to run a defense catered to the personnel. Don't understand the Dent pick either. The O.D.B
Please correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't jamming a receiver at the line an attempt to break his timing with the QB??? A corners job is to cover and make sure the ball doesn't get past him to the receiver. Grimes does this better than most of the CBs in the NFL. Also, I don't know the roots of were jamming the WR came from but it really sounds like a coach had a cb on his team that couldn't cover so he told his CB to jam thus breaking the timing of the play and giving his player a chance since the QB now has to adjust.Yes, I wish Grimes was a little bigger but, do I want anyone else as my starting CB??? Sure, every day but game day.

atlshocker
Your credibility died a tragic death right there. This means you think Grimes is a beast or the opposite?I agree with everyone else.
falconcrest58
so we need to fire TD and coach Smith...and let Grimes walk in FA???? Our problem is and has been is a freaking pass rush or lack of opposite JA
Jaymadd
LOL at Grimes getting burnt all year, did you watch any games besides the playoff game vs Green Bay my friend. I do agree that we need to cater our defense to our players, Grimes is our best cover CB, but I do think that Robinson and any other CB needs to able to be more physical at the line, even owens, because that is what they excel at and they arent as quick as grimes. People get caught up in wrong thing when it comes to the draft, if you stop looking at the obivious it might come to u that maybe Dent can play another position besides ILB, like maybe SLB to replace Nicholas or Peterson on running downs. trubirdfan4life
we got the guy to be on special team s this year so that our starting LB wont have to be on teams...and we got him to learn for a year because lofton is up for a contract and we might not be able to afford him come free agency....we are getting good young players and training them. what if lofton gets hurt this year and misses a game or two. We need more help at LB.....the guy can also play strongside LB....most people are commenting that he can't but he has and can.

If you think the ball just get thrown to Grimes then you clearly need to watch a few of his highlight reels. The problem with Grimes is a good QB just needs to drop it over his head to where only the WR is between the goalline. As far as Dent goes it may have been a value pick BPA but I am thinking perhaps there are more similarities in ability of an ILB in a 3-4 with a SLB in a 4-3 than the MLB in a 4-3. atlshocker
Grimes gets abused at times. He is no Darrelle Revis, Nnamdi Asomugha etc... Got to be a point, where we say its time to stop being good and be great. Grimes is not strong, tall, or super fast. A good athlete that would excel at the nickel if you ask me. Our past two drafts have been iffy and I catch myself scratching my head...
freebird310
Grimes is the least of our problems, BVG is not ...I am starting to doubt that this current scheme we are running on defense here with BVG is EVER going to work ......straight Tampa 2 don't get it in the league anymore, why can we not run any hybrid fronts, every OC in the league knows exactly what we are doing on defense .... HouseofEuphoria
Grimes made a few plays, mostly when the ball was thrown right to him. For the most part, I seen him get burnt play after play. Wow. You are out of your mind.13-3 last season w/Grimes starting. He made our 57 million dollar CB on the other side look pedestrian.Pro Bowl ring a bell? For those of you who dont understand the Dent pick - Who backs up Lofton during games? Who comes onto the field when Lofton is tired after playing every down of an 8 minute drive? Coy Wire? Coy is not a run stuffing MLB by any stretch of the imagination. We needed a true ILB to spell Lofton, who has proven he's better when he doesnt have to play every single minute of the game.(see GB debacle)
atlshocker
So we are drafting backups? Our secondary is the reason why we got beat by the Packers. BVG also had to do with this. The First time we played the pack we blitzed only like five times. But for some reason in the playoffs we blitz a QB that is statistically the best vs the blitz and get killed. If you are a CB that can only play off ten yards get the freak off the field because these top WR's are gonna make a fool out of us. If i was Andre Johnson or someone like that i would laugh if you put on across from me. Get real.
