Lou_Dog
What happens if Teheran comes up and throws a 9 inning shutout? Do we send him back down or give him another oppurtunity at a start to see if he can keep it up? Plus, if he is too good to send back down should we try to trade a starter for a big bat? And if we do that, what position should we try to upgrade? Yeah I know its alot of questions but it is a very possible scenario. With Nate playing as good as he has been latley I honestly dont know what position I would try to upgrade. Dharma Initiative
He'll be sent down regardless, they'll drag out his arbitration eligibility until we have a need at open spots
Falconsfan567
I really have no idea what position we could upgrade on our offense. When everyone is at their best our offense is top 5 in the NL and in maybe all of baseball.
Threepac Daddy
after watching tonight, he is not ready back to the minors for the rest of the year.
Goodoleboy58
i watched eagerly, hope he just had a case of the jitters because he didnt miss any bats at all... not a bad first outing but i was hoping for more swings and misses
Warrior999
Yeah he def need rest of the year in the Minors. We also got to remember he only 20. Many players his age are still in A or AA.
K26dp
He was fine, he kept the team in the game. This game hopefully knocks out some jitters and gives him some things to work on in AAA. Hopefully the rotation will keep on rolling and he can stay in the minors the rest of the season. but if we need him I wouldn't mind giving the ball to him again. He's got a ton of movement on his pitches but seemed to lack a little bit of control. But no reason to be worried.
Threepac Daddy
he has the potintal to be dominate in the major, but he has to spend another year or 2 in the minors to hone his skills.
sdogg
He did fine for a 20yo making his 1st start vs a WS caliber lineup. His teammates on the other hand...well they flat out sucked.
Dharma Initiative
He was solid, with Medlen and Minor being the next two likely to enter the majors again, it will buy Teheran plenty of time

What position are you going to upgrade? We don't use the DH.

Falconsfan567
I think you get a bullpen arm and maybe a SS or CF prospect for the futureNow that makes a lot of sense. But as far as trying to upgrade our lineup right now there really isn't any place we can go. Gonzalez is average at best offensively but he more than makes up for it with his defense. McLouth is average offensively but he's been one of our better hitters the past 3 weeks and there isn't anyone else that we can even consider replacing. If we had the DH that would be easy. Just go and get the best pure homerun hitter out there and stick him in the lineup but we don't have that luxuary like the AL teams do. K26dp
Yes he is but it's impossible for him to run batting 8th.Actually, that's a very good spot for him to use his speed. If he's on with the pitcher behind him, he'll have plenty of running opportunities. It's not like Alex Gonzalez is some on-base machine that will always be on ahead of him. If it's less than 2 outs the pitcher will always be bunting and if there is 2 outs you don't want him running because if he gets thrown out than the pitcher is forced to lead off the next inning. So his great base stealing ability is unless batting 8th.

And the way Fredi has been using the bullpen, the pitcher's only getting two PAs a night anyway.
ugadawg
I think he needs more time down in AAA. He proved he has electric stuff and can pitch in the majors. IMO I watched him try and to be to perfect at times and tried to spin his breaking stuff more than normal. It was almost like he doubted his stuff. When he was settled got good extension he was spot on.Will be a good one just not ready yet.
Goodoleboy58
i could see a trade for a young stud OF... someone who could fill in the minors and hone his skills while Chipper plays out this year.... then Prado moves to 3rd and we are down to really Heyward as out only reliable OF.... Our minor league system is pretty weak at OF throughout (unless there is some stud that came out of no where since last year)
