Miller2Rison
I see everyone talking a DE opposite Abe to get more pressure on the QB but what about DT? We have Babs who is decent but he isn't a pressure or sack machine, I think if Beirman had more help in the middle he could be a little more solid, he was getting to QBs last year just not getting sacks. Who is the other guy we have at DT? I don't even know. Remember how sick our defensive line was with kerney and coleman?
Banned
Peria Jerry was the other guy at DT. He was a first round pick but suffered a major injury on 2009 which caused him to miss his whole rookie year. He got back into a rotation this year but that injury put him under the radar.

Miller2Rison
we need some dominance on the line, all across, we need another rod coleman.

ki46dinah
Babs is a very good DT...probably one of the better in the bizz.Corey Peterson was a young gun last year, and should sculpt into better NFL shape with a year of NFL lifting.Vance Walker is still improving his game. The team keeps hanging onto Lewis for some reason...and he is like a decade off now from his knee injuries.Jerry was a 1st round pick, people keep making excuses for him, so hopefully he will be a force this coming season now with plenty of time off his injury and weight training. Too bad he is about to turn 27 and we haven't even used him yet.Every position of this team has relative needs...especial on the defensive side of the ball. The only non question marks for the position comes at safety where we have 2 competent guys. They may have no backups, but you cant be stacked at every position 3 deep. He's not the problem. Abe has Babs to help take pressure off. Biermann has no consistent help on the left side. Walker and Peters are not threats and I'm sure the opposing offensive coordinator realizes that from watching film

He made key plays at the line but in coverage he got exposed at times, sort of like Palomalu(sp?). Maybe its just me

Knight of God
I agree and totally believe that the edge rush starts inside with space eaters.
Miller2Rison
i think that's exactly what we need, keep beirman on the other end and get a playmaker opposite babs, someone that can break through like rod coleman did.

Maybe its just meYes he did not look quite as adept in coverage as in 09.But he was undergoing a role reversal.in 09 Coleman was the vet and he was the young wild thingin 10 DeCoud was the vet and Moore was the young wild thingTaking on the vet role isw kind of sobering
Rai
Hopefully Peria Jerry turns into that space eater that we thought we were draftinghe won't, he's already maxed out his frame which was my main issue with him. he does have rare burst and explosion though for a guy his size. he's a UT much like Babineaux. a big guy that can rush the passer effectively? haynesworth is the best. shaun rogers is another big guy that moves like a UT but went to the saints. seymour is another tackle who isn't as big but is good at rushing the passer and stuffing the run. it's scary how good haynesworth could've actually been if he could get his head straight off the field. Let him loose 15 pounds and he's good to go there. He just looks uncomfortable to me with his 295 pound frame.

Let him loose 15 pounds and he's good to go there. He just looks uncomfortable to me with his 295 pound frame.I actually mentioned that last year after seeing a couple scouting reports. He's playing with too much weight which is just going to increase the risk of injuries. Only now, he'll be 27 when the season starts and he's not going to have a long time learning to play defensive end and I don't think the staff see him as being one either. I'm sure he can play it though, even with coming off that knee injury. Just check his speed rush sack against the Panthers. Looked pretty fast going around the edge, even if he was virtually unblocked.

I remember the Huddle Report write up on Jerry before he was drafted and they were saying he could be an OK tackle but if he lost a few pounds he could be an outstanding DE.
