Offseason prediction with new CBA in place.

Recommended Posts

We already drafted:

Julio Jones, WR.

Akeem Dent, LB.

Jacquizz Rodgers, RB.

Matt Bosher, P.

Andrew Jackson, OL.

Cliff Matthews, DE.

In free agency we will let go:

Jerious Norwood, RB.

Brian Finneran, WR.

Trey Lewis, DT.

Brian Williams, CB.

Michael Koenen, P.

Harvey Dahl, OG.

Stephen Nicholas, LB.

Chauncey Davis, DE (cut).

In free agency we will sign:

Ray Edwards, DE, Minnesota.

This is one that I feel like is a lock if he becomes a UFA. He fits our biggest need that has been avoided, and Blank will be willing to sign this beast.

Eric Wright, CB, Cleveland.

A cheap replacement for Brian Williams and a young/solid corner.

Deon Grant, SS, Seattle.

Wants to be a Falcon, would take a hometown discount and could add some age to the young backfield.

Manny Lawson, LB, San Francisco.

He is perfect for the role of replacing Nicholas. A playmaker behind the line of scrimmage. Exactly what we need.

Depth:

QB: Ryan/Redman/Wilson.

RB: Turner/Snelling/Quizz

FB: Ovie/Snelling

WR: White/Jenkins/Jones/Douglas/Meier/Weems

TE: Gonzo/Palmer/Peele

LT: Baker/Valdez

LG: Blalock/Jackson

C: McClure/Hawley

RG: Johnson/Jackson

RT: Clabo/Reynolds

DE: Edwards/Biermann/Matthews

DT: Jerry/Peters/Anderson

DT: Babs/Walker

DE: Abe/Sidbury

OLB: Lawson/Peterson

MLB: Lofton/Dent/Adtkins

OLB: Weatherspoon/Wire

CB: Robinson/Grimes/Franks/Wright/Owens

FS: DeCoud/Schillinger

SS: Moore/Grant

K: Bryant

P: Bosher

That's a major "if" for Edwards in UFA. If he is RFA under the new contract, we'll need to trade for him which would help the financial bottom line but hurt us from a depth standpoint because I'm pretty sure we're not trading any more draft picks.

I like it. Wish you had a monster DT, but the Eric Wright pick is good enough.

I was planning on just bringing Nich back, but I really think that Lawson would be a big time upgrade. Could be a solid 4-3 OLB, and we need all the playmakers we can get.

I was hoping (and still am) that Nicholas gets signed again, but I think he has his sights set for Detroit. :(
