Ryan is the best qb in the South?

I like the Johnson ranking, but, if I support the article, I'm also forced to acknowledge that Ryan is ranked as the 2nd best player in the division. ....rock><Hard place.

6. Charles Johnson, DE, Carolina Panthers

How can a Panther end up this high? Pretty simple really. Johnson was awesome. With Julius Peppers gone, the former Georgia Bulldog built on his cameos since entering the league to make life beyond hard for the right tackles of the NFL. What was so impressive about Johnson, was that despite coming off the field rarely, he never let up and seemed to get stronger and stronger as the year went on. The Panthers need to keep a hold of this guy.

Best Performance: Week 14 versus Atlanta (+6.2)

Key Stat: Led defensive ends in defensive stops (48) and quarterback disruptions (81)

8. Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons

Am I kidding you? Matt Ryan over Brady, Manning, Brees and others? Less yards than all, more interceptions than some. Just how exactly did Ryan end up so high? Well, playing quarterback to me is more than the statistics, and what Ryan did, with his ability to make clutch throws on key downs was allow Atlanta to run an offense that made them competitive. Without his running of a ball control offense, this team lacks the talent to be a play off contender, let alone a participant. The playoff defeat will remain a black mark against him, but his ability on third down and his sideline throwing was breathtaking at times.

Best Performance: Week 9 versus Tampa Bay (+9.1)

Key Stat: Only spiked the ball once all year. Matty Ice.

taking into account what Ryan walked into in 2008, I Believe MOST NFL players would tell you they would rather go to Battle with Ryan over Big Ben

Even in the Pro Bowl, you could see guys like Fitz and AP gathering around Ryan, some guys have all the Talent in the world

3 yrs from now he could be the Best QB in the Entire NFL

Rodgers and Roethlisberger both just proved that they belong on that tier. The top of the quarterback position is now a five man group.

Big Ben has actually won a playoff game, which Ryan can't say. And Rivers definitely deserves to be on the list, he just took a team with no receivers and made it the highest-ranking offensive unit in the NFL.

In no particular order, Brady, Manning, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, and Rivers are on their own level. Then there's a group of guys like Schaub, Eli Manning, Ryan, Flacco, Freeman, Cassel, and Cutler. You could even add more people to that group. But really, for all of the credit that Atlanta's run game gets, and the people who talk about all of Ryan's game management...the dude was sixth in the NFL in attempts last year. Had his completion percentage been anything more than mediocre, and really it's poor once he gets down the field, he would be recognized as an elite QB. But he's not. Maybe in a few years, maybe once he fixes the holes in his game and wins a playoff game or two. But right now, it's still ludicrous to have him that high on the list.

In 3-4 years Ryan/Ice will be the best!

Ryan/Ice is not an elite QB yet but he is close. For three years in the league that is saying a lot, but your right there are a couple of things to fix and he has proven to get better every year so that is a matter of time!

Rivers is good and should be on the list but let's not get carried away. They has had Vincent Jackson, Antonio Gates, LT, Sproles, not exactly no one to throw to!

Jackson held out most of all of last year, LDT has been gone or on a decline for the last few years, and Sproles is a third down back. Also, Gates was hurt for all of last year, missing six games. Seven different players had the highest receiving totals for individual San Diego games last year. He invented receivers last year.

Kyle Williams? Justin Smith? Really? There is no way those guys are better than 94.

Charles (who?) Johnson not sure about how good this guy but ima go out on a limb and say not better than Demarcus. I'll listen to you're argument about Harrison but the man get hyped cuz of the stool curtain and I still think Demarcus is better.

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know who Ware was two years ago, and would've suggested a large number of players as being better than him, back then.

I've decided to embrace the article in all of its lopsidedness, even if it has James Anderson listed, but not Beason, in the top 100.

Charles Johnson will be the next big thing when it comes to DEs. No matter if he remains a Panther, or goes elsewhere.
