Obviously a lot of this is based on projections. I'd argue that over the last year and half (since Raheem took over the D) the Bucs D-Line has been the worst in the division, but our secondary has been the best.

Yes, all of the rankings were based on "projections". One in particular is assuming the Falcons sign a quality DE like Edwards or Johnson.

I would probaby still probably rank Tampa's secondary to be the best, because they aren't going to cut Talib unless they sign someone in Free Agency. I'd also rank New Orleans secondary above yours. The only guy in your secondary who is really a proven performer is Grimes.

I'd also rank New Orleans linebacking core ahead of yours because of Vilma, although I agree Carolina should be first and we should be last. If not for the surprising play of Bierman last year boosting your D-Line, I think your defense would have been cost you some games.

New Orleans does have Vilma but, Atlanta has Lofton who put up similar stats while playing with a bad knee almost all season. Other than Vilma the Saints have Shanle (lmao) and a rookie. (3rd rounder)

Biermann only made like 6 great plays all season.

While I'm rapid firing posts, it will be interesting to see who ends up having the best backfield. Blount was the 2nd leading rusher in the NFL from the time he became a starter last year. I don't think you can argue that he is a beast, but I definitely won't argue that Turner and Stewart are beast, and that Ingram is going to be. You do have Jason Snelling who is probably the best backup power back in the division, but Turner has also gotten the most wear and tear of the group by far. Cadillac and Bush are solid 3rd down backs, assuming they re-sign, and Goodson is good player in Carolina as well. I love the Jacquizz Rodgers pick for you guys. You never want to completely trust a rookie in pass protection, but given time he could be the best 3rd down back in the division. I think that the NFC South in addition to being the best QB division in the NFL is probably the best backfield division in the NFL, and that which team has the best backfield is to close to call this early.

You could literally make an argument for each team being number one. My thinking: Turner AND Mughelli made the Pro Bowl. Snelling is a good backup. Throw in Quizz and then BAM!

They won't need to cut him- league will suspend him as soon as CBA is signed.

I think most of the rankings are pretty spot on. As a saints fan, i think you are underrating our D-line and wayyyy overrating our special teams. I'd have to put the saints last in the division in special teams. Hopefully that will improve this year. We were inconsistent in kicking fg, and struggle in both coverage of returns and in our own return game.

-I think NO has a better WR corps than us

-I think both our DL and NO's DL will be better than TB's simply because the Bucs' is so young

-CAR has potentially the best OL in the division... it's better than ours at least

-NO's special teams should be last overall

Other than those, I completely agree with everything else. Nice job!

Well if you watched the Clevland and Arizona game you would see that their QB's only three for 150 yards each against the Saints it was our offense and ST that cost us the game having 4 returned td's total

Our DL with the addition of Rodger's and Jordan should be number 1, because if we are going off of speculation like you put the Falcons receivers better than the Saints because of a guy who hasn't played a snap in the NFL I am basing with the additions the Saints made in the DL better.

The Saints secondary gave up the least yards last season and with Sharper healed up as a back up to Jenkins will only get better.

Our ST is terrible and should be last. Everything else I agree with

I think that with the addition of Julio Jones, our receiving core will be tremendously better. Jenkins as a 3rd receiver? That's crazy (good for him), Douglas (another year recovered from the knee) should only get better. Then throw in Meirer coming off injury, and then Weems and you have a great core.

I think that Eric Weems could be every bit as good as Lance Moore if put in NO offense.

You guys are putting a lot of pressure on Julio Jones. He is a good player, but he is a rookie who isn't even going to get the normal summer that most rookies have to learn an offense. I think most Atlanta fans would be very happy if you got a Calvin Johnson like player. If you were looking for a guy to compare Jones to you'd probably say Megraton, but Megatron's numbers his rookie year were only 48 rec for 756 yards and 4 TD's and that was with John Kitna in Martz's pass happy offense that ranked pretty well in yards and that had Roy Williams go for 64-838-5 and Shaun McDonald go for 79-934-6.

i was once told during drew brees' 5000 yd passing season that if he had the falcons' receiving corps, brees would have passed for 6000+ yds easily. this was of course coming from a falcon fan

Well it obviously wasn't me. :P Colston, Moore, Meachem and Henderson are probably the best starting four in the league if the Packers lose Jones in free agency.
