Have any of you pondered this?

Picture where we left off last year during the regular season, got the picture clear in your head like a Polariod in your hand.

Now add this to the picture.

1)Spoon - healthy all season and a tackling like Lofton.

2)Meier - picture him living up to our expectations as a quicker Fin.

3)Jerry - picture the guy 100% and stealing highlights from Babs.

4)Peters- picture He and Jerry with allot more penetration.

5)Douglas - picture Harry 100% and catching the ball (because he knows he better)

6)Moore - picture even more aggression and confidence.

7)Norwood - picture a return with a vengeance, playing possessed.

8)Franks- picture Franks taking nickel from Owens or that Owens masters it.

1)Julio - picture At very minimum a solid 3rd receiver (I expect allot more)

2)Dent - picture Dent taking a job from MP and showing us why he was so high on some boards.

3)Quizz - Picture an RB that defenders can't find and when they do it's too late.

1)Edwards - picture adding a solid 6-8 sack a year guy and picture Beirman getting 6-8 of his own.

Ok, being a 13-3 team how many of these things do we need to get over the hump?? ok, What if they all happen????huh?????huh???? This is ponderosioous.

Biermann or Edward's numbers will suffer. Davis would do the same as Edwards in Minnesota. Norwood is a FA and probably won't get resigned. Jerry is 27 this year and is a big man coming off of injuries to his lower extremities (see Trey Lewis). Other than that I agree. +1

Agree with most of that except the bold. I still like Chauncey. He is pretty solid IMO and a great role player. I do think Edwards might be a little better.

As for Jerry 27 isn't a big deal at DT. Look at Pat Williams. Dude is like 38 and played at a high level up until this past season. And Jerry was WAY more explosive than Trey Lewis. That guy was nothing but overrated. People feel in love with his stats. A big guy like him running a fast 40 yard dash. He had a body of a NT, but played like a UT.

One has to sit and think that after that humiliating ownage in the GB game this year, that Owens is working his flucking azz off this offseason to save his job. I know if I were him, I would not have taken one single day off during the offseason. That's just me though.

6)Moore - picture even more aggression and confidence.

This is what i'm sayin'. He needs to stay healthy, and even though this will be year 3, if he is healthy it will be his second full season, so he needs to avoid a "sophmore" slump.

Moore is a heat-seeking missile though, to the ball and to the ball carrier. He has potential to be special, and I think the confidence he got from last season will be huge.

I've done some pondering of my own, and my pondering is based on past history. This is more likely:

1)Spoon - healthy most of the season and a solid starter.

2)Meier - picture him being a backup IF healthy.

3)Jerry - picture the guy being 27 year old rookie still struggling to be healthy all while being a situation player.

4)Peters- picture He will be productive against the run but not a threat for sack or even qb hurries.

5)Douglas - picture Harry continuing to being a bust.

6)Moore - I think he will continue to improve and may be a pro bowler this season.

7)Norwood - picture will return to play well and then get injured again.

8)Franks- picture Franks being ok.

1)Julio - picture being #2 receiver.

2)Dent - picture Dent being an ok backup.

3)Quizz - Picture an RB that is not as injured as Norwood but is not as fast either - he will be productive though.

Only if heaven had a ghetto... haha.

It is a good thought...

How much of this can be realistic?

I'm not sure about the polaroid or the ponderosa but I feel what your are saying. I'm also curious to see what Palmer will do.

Same here.

Palmer looked a bit clunky last year, but should only get better.

Peele and Palmer are bot benefiting from Gonzalez's techniques.

What should we picture Owens doing?

I can't get the Aaron Rodgers massacre out of my head.

Do what I'm doing. Picture Owens serving Gatorade to Grimes, Robinson and Franks, and never having to step on the field b/c the 3 above stay healthy all season.

I don't get all the Owens hate. If we dismissed every player for one bad game who would we want to have playing?

Cheers,

GO

I'll tell you my theory on this. It seemed as if Owens was finally progressing the last 2 games of 2009. As time goes on in that following offseason next thing you know quite a few people were talking like he was the second coming of Deion. I later went back and re watched the last game against the Bucs and I could see he still had some work to do.

So it seemed for some to many that the expectations for 2010 were over inflated because he got a couple of INT's. He looked great in training camp then reality set in during the regular season but yes he frustrated me as well in quite a few moments.

He definitely has the physical talent but does he have the mental ability to read and react quick enough? This year will be year 3 and a defining moment for Owens.

That's the point exactly my man. It all may not happen but most of it's realistic enough. Last years team was only a few pieces away but we have allot more pieces than our "needs" that could show up and make us unstoppable. I hope they all come through because I want us to make an impression this year. I want us to be like some of the great teams in history. The one that comes to mind for me is the RAMS and the 'greatest show on turf' like em or not they made a lasting impression.

I'm not sure if the stats showed it, but wasn't even Roddy pretty banged up with a knee problem the latter part of the season?

That being said, let's compare our injury situation from last year to the Packers.

Suddenly things don't look so rosy.

I agree that there is a lot of potential for up side, but there could be bigger problems.

Ie: Remember, Abe's is going into an "odd" year, plus he is another year older. We are likely to lose production there.

Man, I hate to post negative . . . I'm optimistic as heck. But guardedly optimistic as heck!

I concur

The problem is that Owens is 5'9 and he was covering WRs that were 6'1 and 6'3. If there is a 5'9 corner out on the field, Rodgers will find a way to attack him. That is actually the problem with Atlanta's secondary. All of their corners are small. Guys like Rodgers can throw a very accurate ball and guys like Owens are going to have a hard time matching up with bigger WRs.

The other problem in that game was a total lack of interior pass rush. You can't ask the secondary to hold up if the interior DL is being completely stone-walled the entire game. I think the edge rush is highly overrated in the NFL. The interior rush is what crashes and disrupts the elite QBs. If all you got is an edge rush the really good QB will feel it and step up. The Falcons got absolutely no push in the middle in that game. The only time they got pressure was when they blitzed. Teams like the Saints and Packers just have too many weapons to account for if you blitz them.
