I hear so many people say they don't like ryan or turner or white or more; or they don't like Dimitroff or mike smith; or how our draft goes and who we get.

Has someone put a gun to your head and forced you to be an atlanta falcons fan? why are you trying to stay a fan?

my next question is why is it that if we go to anothers team message boards, we have to stay good basically and if for any reason a team fan does not like you then we get booted. why is the falcons putting up with people who have 200 to 1000 negatives? Falcons message boards should start to delete these aint fan and aints fan who turned into wannabe packer fans

I concur my friend. We should actually embrace and stand up for what our organization is doing and where they are trying to take us. I mean look at the past 3 seasons this group was on board winning seasons and a Division CChamp Title. So thank for starting this thread. It is something I've been wanting to do, but I had to create a

new account, lost 2000+ post :( anyway thanks.

Part of it might be that you can just arbitrarily neg somebody. I ususally don't neg I just give a positive if it sounds good to me. I thing the negs are a bit overdone personally, but that's just me. I might even get one for this comment. lol

mashburn, a lot of those "fans" are not fans -- but they pretend to be just to stir up controversy. You learn to weed those out and ignore them.

Then there are the long time Falcon fans who have become accustomed to being disappointed by the team. They like what they are seeing - but they don't trust it - and if anything bad happens - a loss or especially like the playoff loss - they feel it's just a sign that they are really still the same ol' Falcons and it's just a matter of time.

I've been a fan since the team became a team. I can't tell you how many years we had such high hopes only to again have a disappointing season or end to a season. How many times we said "wait til next year". We would get all hyped up in the preseason thinking this was the year - only to be let down again. After many years of this - you expected it. You became numb to the disappointment and distrustful of the hope.

I remember in early '99, sitting in the stands in Minnesota, feeling like I couln't breathe and realizing that because I'd been waiting all season for the other shoe to drop - I'd really missed the experience of the season. I never could really celebrate it because I was so afraid it was going to end in disappointment again. I was so amazed we were going to the Superbowl. Then I remember what it felt like at that SB - all the blood was drained from my heart that day.

I believe in this team - I believe in this organization. I think Arthur Blank has been the best thing to happen to this team. What he is bringing to Atlanta is amazing - and I truly believe we are going to get that ring.

But, I don't look too harshly at the true fans who are skeptical - critical and untrusting. I know why they are like that.

That isn't to say that there are not some who are just lashing out because they are angry about Vick for some unknown reason - and hate Ryan because of it. It isn't to say there aren't some who are really fans of another team who pretend to be fans and put everyone down. It isn't to say there aren't some who just like the attention they get so they start controversial threads. All of those types are on the board - you just have to learn to weed through them.

But, there are some fans, true fans, who have been Falcon fans for so long they are conditioned for failure and disappointment and they are just not going to open up only to be stomped down again. They'll come around slowly when the team continues to contend and moves forward in the playoffs. But, make no mistake - no matter how bitter they may sound - or skeptical and non trusting they may seem - they are true Falcon fans through and through.

If you look at our history before Mike Smith and Company - think of this

1. Never had 2 winning seasons in a row.

2. 9 winning seasons in 41 years

3. 8 playoff seasons in 41 years

Since then

1. 3 winning seasons in a row

2. 3 winning seasons in 3 years

3. 2 playoff seasons in 3 years

WOW I didn't know we only had 9 winning seasons before mike smith. thanks for letting me know that.

I agree with what you said. and I undersatnd there is some really old fans who are just upset with our one draft. but it really upsets me when these stupid thread get started of how they'll pee on our field next year, or how they start calling the true fans horrible names and starting crap.

we really need to do something and that is why I started a petition. I hope everyone signs it.

How about these facts:

1. Before Arthur Blank purchased the team - we averaged 5 wins per year.

2. Since Arthur Blank purcfhased the team - we have averaged 9 wins per year.

3. In the Mike Smith era - we've averaged 11 wins per year.

4. Of the 10 times we've been to the playoffs - 6 were in the 35 years before AB bought the team for 17% of the time and 4 have been in the 9 years since (44%) with 2 of those during the Mike Smith era (67%).

Blank has brought a winning attitude to this team - and Smith and company are the result of that. We have a bright future ahead of us.

As for petitions - I wish you luck - but honestly, I've seen this so many times - your best best is to learn the ignore feature - how to turn it on and learn to weed through the good stuff. I'm not going to discourage you if this is what you want to do - but you were curious about why so much skepticism and criticism - so I thought I'd share.

The point of a message board is to discuss our team and express our opinions, both good and bad points. To label a person who questions some of the most resent draft decisions a troll or an Aints fan, because they are not totally happy with the cost of the trade for JJ is patently unfair and frankly mean spirited. I have been a fan of the falcons for over 20 years. I too have suffered through many wait till next year seasons. I appreciate very much the fact that the last 3 seasons have been the best 3 successive seasons in the history of the franchise. I am especially proud of the 13-3 season. But to "live" with people in your office who have resided in Georgia their entire lives, who are avid Steelers or Patriots fans, speaks volumes about the state of the Falcon's franchise. Most of the " experts" who rated the recent Falcons draft, labeled it extremely risky. Those people are obviously all wrong. Our concern is not about the player we picked. It is about the price we paid. My big problem with the trade is not the picks we gave up in the recent draft, but the fact that we will still be paying for it this time next year. Many of us "drafnicks" look forward each spring to the Falcons draft. We analyze it "mock it" a thousand time and argue about our choices and opinions. Next year we are missing the most important pick in the draft. In my opinion this draft will not be a total success unless the Falcons a least make the Superbowl next year. If that makes me a Troll in some peoples eyes, so be it. I know in my heart I am a Falcons fan. If the way to build a great football team is through the draft, as we have heard many experts tell us, then we have netted one player out of each of the last three drafts (in my opinion). Some of us wanted more so that we may get to the big game and those people in my office will finally route for the Falcons.

Thanks for the compliment. For my money, Hawkeye is the best "poster" on this board. He certainly is one of the most prolific. His depth of knowledge about players is astonding. I just wonder does he have a "real" job too.

That is a great point and you are ABSOLUTELY right, however this thread inititally was started with a rant against Falcon fans who continue to say they dislike our current QB, HB, and WR. Who have proven themselves to not only the fans but to the Franchise. But somehow, we began talking about the draft, which everyone will have their opinion, until the seasons starts. But thanks for the good read. That should have been the begining of a thread.

It's good that people are wising up to the con artists, i.e. Michael Turner and Michael Jenkins. Michael Turner is one-dimensional and is only good at making the offense predictable. Even with Julio Jones, once we put Michael Turner in, defenses know we will probably run the ball just because Turner can't catch or pass block.

Same with Michael Jenkins. In 2009, Michael Jenkins was paid over $4.5M to catch 1 touch down. That means if we want him to catch, 5 tds like most capable starting WRs do, we'd have to pay him $22.5M.

Yeah, I wish that all of these doodoo Aint fans, FudgePacker fans, ******** Buc fans, and Cowgirl fans would get the he77 off of this message board and find one that they converse on the possibility of MAYBE beating the Falcons this year. The negative fans can all follow them and buy Mike Vick Eagles' jerseys. F******n punks
