Holmgren Laughing At The Trade

Recommended Posts

Right so he wasn't a game-changer in college. Make all the excuses you want, dude is a marginal talent. The fact that TD sold his young child to get him makes simpletons think more highly of him.

WRONG

Interesting take... You have to be a lawyer. There is no way you watched college football last year but truth is that we can argue our points forever but only time will tell and if you are right i'll eat my crow but if Im right I hope you will man up as well. You probably got a bit of heat because it seemed like you were bashing our team but i see now that we both just have different vews on whats best for our team

Wow..... Look at all this in depth analysis from PostofDonkey...... Jes, you really do live up to your name. Your posts sound just like a Donkey.... They actually resemble a lot of posts from DomeofDumb...........

Keep up these thought provoking posts and we will keep making fun of you......

He's just a sorry Tampa fan that knows his team has no chance this year, and for many years to come. Tampa will be the best team in the NFC for the 1st three weeks of the season according to Raheem, so he's always got that to look forward too.

You DO realize that was the Pro Bowl don't you? There's very little contact allowed and the defense is restricted from what it can do.rolleyes.gif

To be honest, I'm willing to bet that had the Falcons actually ran that play in the regular season, Matt Ryan would be pressured and forced to dump it off to Gonzalez.

Noodle doesn't have the mentals or arm to become half of what those QB's are. And before some dingle comes in and throws stats noodle doesn't dictate the action during the game. He isn't a game-changer and never will be.

oh dear god, first time poster here :D how can you say that ryan is not a game changer, this guy has 8 4TH QTR comebacks and 13 game winning drives in his young career.

please get real son.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/05/01/holmgren-calls-move-out-of-no-6-spot-kind-of-an-amazing-trade/

"The Atlanta Falcons wanted to move up in round one to get a big-play receiver. They tried to get to No. 4, so that they could add A.J. Green. The Bengals said, “No thanks.”

 So Julio wasn't the first choice. They really wanted Green.

Holmgren: “The trade was kind of an amazing trade when you count it up. Next year we’ve got a one and a four and it’s what we needed.”

Translation: Man I can't believe those idiots gave up that much for a #2 WR.

Is there a receiver currently in the NFL for whom a team would or should give up two first-round draft picks, a second-round pick, and two fourth-round draft picks? Maybe Larry Fitzgerald or Andre Johnson.

Ummm, it's comical that anyone on here at this point can justify the nonsense of this move. After watching the anus pounding by the GB packers, Thomas "always trying and failing to be the smartest man in the room" Dimitroff thinks selling the farm for a #2 WR who has the dropsies is going to solve the atrocious defense and noodle-like soft mental QB.

He's done, this is one of the more laughable moves in NFL history. Yet some of you try and justify it. HILARIOUS

Holmgren is a fat POS. We could and should have traded him 2 X-Large pepperoni pizzas for the pick. He would have taken it.

And GhostofDonkey, what is your problem? I honestly can't read you; are you a vick homer, actually saints fan, or just a moron? We have had the best 3 years in franchise history and all you can do is bag on the people who brought them. There's a reason that TD is the GM and you're not.

And he can keep laughing at the odd coincidence that he will have the distinction of picking 1st (his) and 32nd (ours) next year.

Meanwhile, we can laugh because he reached on all of the picks he got from us.

Care to tell me where Roddy was picked?

Tom Brady?

Ray Rice?

Brandon Marshall?

Drew Brees?

Antonio Gates?

Vincent Jackson?

Clay Matthews?

So you're saying these players are simply roster space? You are completely ignorant to how important draft picks are. This FO pimps building through the draft then dumps everything for a high bust probability position and one that will touch the ball maybe 7 times a game.

Can you care to tell me where players like Andre Johnson, Larry Fitgerald, or I will go even further back to John Elway or Peyton Manning. For every undrafted or late round pick up there are some that actually live up to the hype.

I beleive it has to do with the GM evaluating the talent. TD did a d@mn good job picking Ryan over Dorsey. I beleive he did another wonderful job by choosing Julio instead of picking BPA at 27.

I could care less how Julio ended up here, but he is, so let's go FALCONS!!!!

Um....no.

1) I dont care if Mike Holmgren is "laughing." When his team starts winning games, we'll reassess his ability. He's a good coach, not a great one.

2) Your translation is conjecture. He thinks its an amazing trade because he feels his team got the better end of the deal. If you ask TD, he'd react in the same way. It seems fairly logical to anyone with the ability to reason that parties only enter into transaction if the consideration they are receiving is more valuable to them than the consideration they are giving up.....not sure why you would think anything else.

3) The difference in asking what people would give up for a "proven" wideout is not analogous due to age issues, cap number as well as the nature of the draft picks involved. When we can be reasonably certain that these draft picks are low in the round picks, the likelihood people would be willing to trade them goes up considerably.

4) The various value assessment by pretty much anyone with any sort of knowledge of the NFL has us paying slightly more than we had to......not a "laughable" amount in any regard.

5) This trade didnt cost us 2 firsts, it cost us 1. We received a first round draft pick in return. Don't be an idiot....or at least try your hardest to avoid it.

6) Obviously, obvious troll is trolling obviously....
