*TMo*
I've heard the name Charles Johnson from Carolina bandied around some but I was wondering who in free agency is actually better than John Abraham and Kroy Bierman? Hopefully there is a realistic solution in a fairly young player.
FlyHighFalcons
Nobody in free agency is better than JA55. But we're not looking for that. Ray Edwards (who I think will be a Falcon), Mathius Kiwi and Charles Johnson are all better than Biermann, in my opinion.
*TMo*
Can any of those guys come from the left side or would they be potential replacements for Abraham after next year?
FalconsfanDK
they are not better than abraham... they are probably all better than biermann as a starter, but with that said, biermann was a beast when he was rotational, and the falcons like to rotate on the d-line, so i believe edwards or johnson teamed up with biermann on one side will be a mean combo to switch back and forth with. Dharma Initiative
If anythign I think the guy we get will be the LDE and Biermann would be Abraham's replacement
FalconFanSince1970
Johnson ain't even on the same planet with Abe, but he is better than Biermann. We could have drafted him with the 75th pick of the 2007 draft but we opted for Busterson with the 8th pick. Johnson had 17 more sacks since that draft. Jeez.I don't think CAR will let Johnson get away. Our best bet might be Edwards who should hit the market. Tribal Chief
There is a very talented FA that can net us 8 sacks per year and all he wants is the veteran minimum. His name is ya_boi_j lol. Seriously, no one is better than Abe but Biermann is up in the air. He gets pressure but not the sack. That has to improve
EllijayFalconsFan
The Falcons will go after Ray Edwards.I doubt Mathias or Charles Johnson leave their teams.Especially Charles Johnson. The dude isn't leaving Carolina.

#1$tunna
Carolina will franchise him anyway but id they dont, we have a great chance of getting him. He's a local guy and the idea of coming home and playing for a SB contender will be impossible to pass up for any player
#1 pick
Charles Johnson is better than Biermann but JA55 is better. Edwards and MK are all solid like Biermann but they are pass rushers and Biermann is a run stopper. All three are rotational.
BlazerHarvard
Why would Johnson want to stay in Carolina? And don't say because they'd pay more because they have the cheapest owner in the NFLThis is from roto-world:Impending free agent DE Charles Johnson is happy not to receive the Panthers' franchise tag, but he's still interested in re-signing under a long-term deal.Yeah, definitely," Johnson said. "I hope I do. I've been here forever it seems and I don't want to relocation." Johnson recently spoke with new coach Ron Rivera and thinks the "change is good" in Carolina. That being said, I would have to think that we'd be the team he'd sign with if he has the option to leave considering he went to college here and the fact that we're obviously the team that looks to give him the best chance to win a Superbowl when comparing us to Carolina. atljbo
None of the FA are better then Abe... Abe is one of the best in the business. Now as of LDE... We are lucky.. if the CBA gets done.. Charles Johnson, Mathias Kiwanuka, and Ray Edwards are all LDE's.If i could pick i would want Charles Johnson 1st... Dude is only 25 years old and entering his prime... Mathias Kiwanuka would be my 2nd choice if he checks out physically... Dude was so good against the run and pass rush... He took Osi starting spot for a minute..... Ray Edwards is also a really good LDE

atljbo
What about Babin? He is 30+ years old and he is looking to get paid... You dont want another older DE
#1 pick
What about Babin? He's an UFA too. He's the only one I would go after since he's isn't tender and I think he's a very good pass rusher, not just good like like other ones mentioned. I didn't even realize he was available till this morning. Edited May 1, 2011 by #1 pick
#1 pick
He is 30+ years old and he is looking to get paid... You dont want another older DEa good player who is a very good pass rusher in Babin and no trading picks>>>> solid DE's while also trading picks, this time they happen to be pass rushers. I would rather Johnson over all but Carolina wants him back. Babin Edited May 1, 2011 by #1 pick
shockerfalcon
Babin is too old to give big money to. KM could leave NY they are loaded at de and wouldnt want to pay to much to keep him. Ray could become a ufa if a new cba gets done and the period becomes four years again. Carolina will not let cj go.

Birdbrains9
Isnt Ray Edwards a RFA? If so, we would have to trade for him, which would require draft picks.
