Julio Jones = Roy Williams that didn't bust.

Recommended Posts

Man, you guys went off on homeboy unnecessarily. Granted, he posts a lot of negative stuff, but he wasn't trying to portray Julio in a bad light, he was saying he will be what Roy Williams was expected to be. Some of you guys struggle with reading comprehension.

As far as comparing him to anyone, he shouldn't be compared to Roy Williams and especially not Larry Fitzgerald as some of you want to do. Let him get on the field first.

i think the comparison to Bolden is right on, gurantee we could have gotten Bolden for a 1st, 2nd, and two 4ths and still kept a first round pick

Julio is younger and will blow Boldens stats away after all is said and done. People will be comparing wr's from the next ten drafts to Julio. Not Bolden, T.O., Fitzgerald, Rogers, Ocho. He will be the the next Jerry Rice 2.0. He will go down as one of the NFL receivers to ever play the game. Anyone saying otherwise is just plain ignorant!

I expect JJ being a Fitz type player imo.

the lols in this thread is a all time high but this one takes the cake.. JJ is not in same breathe as Fitz

Fitz first off has ELITE HANDS ...thats first off Fitz rarely ever drops a ball ..Jones will occasionally drop a ball not a big deal . 2nd Fitz has the best body control a wr can have.

Julio Jones will be in same ball park as this man below..he can turn out slightly better . I know Jones is a slight taller and faster but I think if we wanted a comparison this type of player we will be getting

Nobody.

You needed to end your post right there. What are you doing comparing a college player to a seasoned NFL vet in the first place? I'll do you one better and cut you the first slice of your fail cake.

but every player that comes into the NFL gets compared to current or former players, i dont think any one is saying he will or is as good as these players (at least im not). its just a comparison to try and get a feel of what type of player HE COULD BE not saying he is, and what type of style WR he is... any ways im not bashing any one im jus saying i think he resembles a few players and can only hope he becomes one or close to one of them

We are doing this for argument sake , we wont truly know what we have in Julio to 3-5 years down the road my dude but You & homegirl should really stay away from that cake though..

Julio Jones and Roy Williams are carbon copies nearly. They are both about 6-3, 215. They both have trouble with dropping balls. Both ran 4.3-4.4 in the 40. They are both very strong. They both wear/wore number 11 in the NFL.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he is going to be a bust. But what Roy Williams did as the number one option in Detroit (800-1200 yards and 7-9 TDs a year) is what Julio Jones will do for the Falcons as the third or fourth option (Roddy White, Michael Turner being 1 and 2, TG maybe being number 3).

You cant compare a boar to a pig.

Julio hasn't busted or soared yet. As a matter of fact, he hasn't caught one pass in the NFL.

It's universally said that Jerry gave up WAY too much for Roy. Time will tell on Julio. But I can't imagine him even having the year Mike Williams had last year. But at this point, it's all imagining I guess.

Julio's biggest impact will not be statistically so it is not fair to compare him to other rookie WRs who are going to come in as #1 WRs like Mike Williams did last year and AJ Green and Greg Little will this year. Julio will spread out the defense preventing stacked boxes for Michael Turner, opening the middle for Tony Gonzalez, and preventing frequent double teams on Roddy White.

Mike Williams came in to a team who had to throw from behind to stay in and win games and he was the #1 WR on a passing team -- his #s were inflated and I honestly don't think he will do better than that for his career with Arrelious Benn emerging, Sammie Stroughter back, and Kellen Winslow healthy in the mix (not to mention Blount and Stocker).

In 3 years, Julio will start to have a significant impact statistically. I don't say this because of the 3 year WR rule -- I think Julio is ready to contribute immediately -- I say this because Roddy White will be 30, Michael Turner will be over 30, and Tony Gonzalez will be gone. Julio will become the #1 passing option and Roddy will become the #2, like how the Colts offense transitioned with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne as Marvin got older. Julio has some Andre Johnson in him, all he has to do is refine his game and knockout Cortland Finnegan and the stats will come.

Love how this got dug up. Stick to current topics. And also, I just caught that somebody said that I mentioned Michael Turner being out number two receiving option: I never said that, I said he is the number two option on the offense. He is probably more of the first option on the offense, but still ahead of Julio.

Trying to hide your dirty laundry, eh there FHF?

Stats wise, it wouldn't surprise me if Jones puts up numbers similar to Eric Weems due to our run, run, pass to Gonzalez/White, punt scheme.

The idea of drafting both Jones and Rodgers was to increase our performance on offense (i.e. less 3 and outs, not relying only on White, much less on 3rd down).

Come on, wake up kid.
