NFL Players saying they are not getting paid enough?

Recommended Posts

If the players were paid on a Percentage basis then that would entitle them to look at the books.

But, the players want contracts with guaranteed money.

So if they want guarantees, along with a percentage, the end result will be no more NFL.

So be it!

It is much easier & simpler to replace the circus animals than to replace the circus owners, facilities and support staff.

Smaller rosters. The NFL have a 53 man roster then you factor in practice squad. They are all greedy and petty. Right now their biggest argument is where to have negotiation held. That's petty.

NBA cap for 2010-2011 is 58 million for 15 guys, an average of 3,866,666 per player. NFL, 53 man roster and the 2009-2010 cap was 127 million, an average of $2,396,226.

Sure, where to hold the negotiations may be petty if you are not informed. The way our laws work, the states have different rules and judges see things differently. Players want things held in a location that is favorable to them, I'm sure the owners do to. Honestly, the fair thing to do would be to hold it where the NFL is based in terms of the home office.

I recall a big deal being made about the fact that a lot of credit card banks were based in Maryland because of how favorable that state's laws were to them. This situation is no different and this is why legal representation cost so much, there are a lot of moving parts and each party needs to be knowledgeable enough to make sure they get the best situation for them. That is just the way the things work.

It may seem petty, but it is really not. I would rather the proper time be taken and things sorted out properly so long term peace can be reached. Not like the last time when a deal was rushed and now the owners want out.

I've said it before, the owners have the right to ask for the money back, but if they want to go back on the deal they signed, don't be surprised when all he|| breaks loose as it has. Let your boss comes to you and tell you your total compensation package it going to change for you and the rest of the employees by a couple of billion dollars. Sure, some people go with the flow, others get upset and leave.

Right now it is the owners locking out the players, not the players going on strike. You can take the viewpoint if they don't like it, then get a real job. You as a fan ultimately end up being the one hurt. None of us want to see inferior talent and the game not played by the best in the world. End of the day, that hurts the economy even more, sports and entertainment employees a lot of people and brings money to a lot of cities. Its not going to be "must see tv" or a trip down to the dome to see some fringe NFL players and a bunch of guys that would never make it in the NFL play football. Semi-pro football, the Arena league and CFL combined can't touch the NFL. Others have tried and failed, do you want to kill the golden goose or work this out the right way?

It may be the owners who are locking out, but it was the players who walked away from the negotiations in favour of decertification and a lawsuit.

The players want to have it both ways. The want to force the owners to play, whilst suing the owners because the rules under which the league would operate are a breach of anti-trust laws. The players say they don't want more money, yet their lawsuit is attacking the very things that make the league so competitive - like the draft, salary cap etc. The lawsuit is seeking a cap and draft free NFL that would turn the league in to a financial free for all.
