Seattle's "12th Man" causes tremor at Qwest Field!

Man, I seriously envy the Seahawks fan base. They know how it's supposed to be done! :D

Did the 12th Man Cause a Tremor at Qwest Field?

Not only was the 67-yard run by Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch on wild-card weekend epic, it turns out it was also seismic.

What was perhaps the greatest run in playoff history put The 12th Man at Qwest Field into such a frenzy that it was picked up as a tremor by the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, according to KING TV in Seattle. A reading was captured by a sensor located near the location of the old Kingdome about the same time Lynch scored at 4:43 p.m. PT.

We all know Qwest Field is loud, but moving the earth is another matter. According to FOX 13, PNSN scientists think their readings show that was the first recorded The 12th Man tremor, ever.

Did the 70,000-strong at the game really cause a quake? I tend to be cynical, but we’ve all been in a stadium that feels like it’s shaking. It has to be possible, right? I can’t help but recall that when Giants WR Plaxico Burress scored the winning touchdown against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII it definitely felt like University of Phoenix Stadium was moving.

You can check out the crowd noise again in the video above … notice how play-by-play man Tom Hammond notes the crowd is “silent” at the beginning of the play and several of the camera angles are visibly shaking after. Wild.

Either way, kudos to you, The 12th Man, you literally made the ground tremble.

imagine if we got together. if the 12th man there could make a 7-9 team beat a defending champion, imagine what it will do for a #1 seed team.

rise up atlanta. lets be the best 12th man.

That's what I'm saying! Can you imagine if every Falcons fan in the Dome that night was dedicated to coughing up a lung if necessary in order to disrupt Rogers and that Packers offense for four quarters! Our fans are gonna play a HUGE role next Saturday night.

umm accualy it wasn't caused by the Seahawks fans, the earthquake happend on the fault line 30 miles to the east, it just so happened to be durine the Seahawks game, it accualy happened while the Seahawks had the ball but it wasn't at the time of the Lynch run.

Just a co-incedence and people changing facts to fit a great story, it just sounds good that the crowd exploded durine the run and it registered as an earthquake.

Then this story is VERY misleading:

That story is a slight fudging of the facts in order to make a great story, the earthquake happend 17 minutes before Marshawn Lynch took the handoff when the score was 34-20 and Seatle had the ball, it just sounds better saying it happened at the exact same time and was caused by the crowd, in accuality a totaly co-incedental earthquake happened durine a football game some time close to a big play but that doesn't sound as good, so they altered the facts a little...

when the earthquake happened the Saints were still trailing big and hadn't started there comeback swing.
