Maybe - but remember - it is all speculation. The fact is there are few College coaches who really excel in the NFL. Perhaps Harbaugh will - for the 49ers sake - I hope so - but it is all speculation at this point.

True.

Their season tix sales will take off.............starting in 15 minutes.

I can't believe they gave him $5 million a year. That's more than any college coach and almost every NFL head coach

Mack Brown at Texas makes more than that and several college coaches from big time schools are in the 4-4.5 million dollar range.

Very smart move on Harbaugh's part IMO. Why go to Miami and compete against the Pats year in and year out, when you can go to the 49ers in a wide open div and a somewhat talented team. They just need a QB.

I tend to agree. That team does have alot of talent. They have the TE in Davis, Crabtree will be good when he has a good QB, and they have a great RB in Gore. They just drafted 2 offensive linemen early last year so they should be set there. What they clearly need is a QB. If they can get that, beef up their defense a little, I think they can be a pretty good football team.

And this is why the NFL is going crazy the way it is. Over paying freaking Stanford's coach? Are you kidding me? Stanford of all teams. You think a guy who coached a Stanford team is just going to be the savior for an NFL team? I don't see it happening. I guess there are reasons why teams never get past being an average to loser team. They never learn.

well, the fact that he took Stanford and made them a one loss team, and then to go in and win a huge bowl game says a lot. If anything it makes him look even better!

Stanford lost 7 offensive and 5 defensive starters this year (seniors). I wonder if that made him think it would be tough to make another run at the title?
