We're measuring the talent of a player by opinion based voting? Forget mechanics, performance under pressure or statistics. Let's talk about how other players and the press vote for MVP. That's the true measure of how good an athlete is.

And more team stats to boot.

Do you believe every single member of the New England Patriots is better than every other player in the league? Do they have the best LT, Center, OLB, K, P...all of them. Because they have the best record...they have to be the best players... individually.

Oh...if the W/L column is your measuring stick for a QB

Donovan McNabb is a more superior quarterback than Dan Marino... 65% > 61%

You have failed to make a performance based case that says Brees is not in the company of Manning and Brady or that Freeman is on par with Ryan. You're relying on the opinion of sportswriters to draw your conclusions.

So you're better equipped to evaluate talent than those who play the game and those who cover the game for a living? Dude(I'm making a big assumption here, as your capacity to ignore facts and one track mind suggest you could be a woman) whatever it is you're smoking, I want some. Keep on cheering for your boy Drew. I'm sure if he lights up the vaunted Seahawk defense, he'll pass Montana, Elway or whoever, as the greatest ever, at least in your mind, unless he's there already.

Second fact is, Freeman has identical stats to Ryan while playing a schedule that differed by only 2 games. Throw in half of last year if you have to make yourself feel better about something. But, being thrown into the starting role, midway through a season on a winless team with an Offensive Coordinater that had only been there for about 90 days isn't something that Ryan has had to overcome.

Yet, in Freeman's first full year, he performed on par with Ryan in his 3rd full year. Freeman's team, however, did not perform up to the same level as Ryan's team.

But, since you want to talk specific games.

Against Pittsburgh...

Completion Percentage

Freeman 64.5

Ryan 61.4

Yards

Freeman 184

Ryan 252

TDs

Freeman 0

Ryan 0

INTs

Freeman 1

Ryan 1

Against New Orleans (both games combined)

Completion Percentage

Freeman 66.7

Ryan 57.6

Yards

Freeman 474

Ryan 376

TDs

Freeman 3

Ryan 3

INTs

Freeman 0

Ryan 0

And, against Baltimore, is the only time Ryan outperformed Freeman...

Completion Percentage

Freeman 45.9

Ryan 64.0

Yards

Freeman 162

Ryan 316

TDs

Freeman 1

Ryan 3

INTs

Freeman 0

Ryan 0

From an unbiased, performance based analysis: Ryan is about equal to Freeman...

Disclaimer: I really like Freeman, and think he's developing into a very good QB. He's not there yet.

Stats mean nothing out of context. Those four games that you compared Ryan to Freeman? Only win for Freeman was when Brees [the elite QB] was pulled with a quarter left. Other than that, Freeman was 0-3 with two blowout losses. Ryan was 2-2 with an OT loss and a 3 point loss. Ryan was the much more effective QB in those games.

Ryan was 5-3 against winning teams, Freeman was 1-5, with the only win coming against a team that pulled its starters after seeding was determined.

Those two teams that the bucs played because of a last place schedule? They lost to one of them. Freeman lost to DET and cost his team a chance at the playoffs. Ryan has never lost to a sub 500 team.

Ryan is a better QB than Freeman.

Great stats today by Drew Brees. I hope the object lesson was not just taught but learned.

What a show of confidence in Drew by Sean Payton, calling a run play for a 2 point convert attempt when you are down to your 6th string running back.
