Fixing the pass rush with Anderson is like putting out a fire with gasoline. I think what we are seeing here is the end of a project that should have stopped 2 years ago.

Agreed. I think this is the end of JA98's career as a Falcon.

You can't just put a pass rush specialist in everyplay at both DE. That's pretty much what Abraham is now and he is much better than JA98. Anderson did a decent job at DT, but the coaches are pretty much saying that he isnt good enough to play there now.

"If I need to go back in there at tackle, I'll be ready," Anderson said.

I love to hear this from a player.

I think one thing some folks are missing is how willing he is to do whatever the team needs him to do to help them win. That is a player that I personally think is worth keeping as long as he remains serviceable - just ask Shannahan how much fun it is to have a player that doesn't want to help the team. he is great against the rush and, while I agree he needs improvement on passing downs, he still has potential.

Hopefully he will take a pay cut and stay on to help the team succeed.

He already got most of his money. He get 1.5M this year, then 1.55m and 1.95M. He wouldn't be taking much of a cut at that rate.

TFL's

Abraham 12

Davis 5

Babineaux 4

Anderson 3

Bierman 3

Jerry 3

Walker 3

Something that doesn't show up in the stat sheet is Anderson's push that forced Brees out of the pocket which allowed Babs to trip him up. Which then led to Brees to throw the little shovel pass right to DeCoud for the interception.

I believe Anderson was playing left end that play.

Very Good point while JA98 has never fully reached his potiential he is willing to do whatever is best for the team which is very refreshing hearing from a pro athelete as how many me me me stories are there out there and the Haynesworth story is one that comes to mind.

I'm probably going to get negged for this. But I don't care. After watching every game this season, I honestly think that Anderson might actually be a better DE than Biermann.

I know a lot of you love him, and I had my own expectations, while they weren't as big as some of you had expected, I felt like he'd have no problem getting around 7 sacks this season. That was my number, and it looks like he's not going to reach it. With that said, I know Anderson doesn't get any sacks either, but you can argue that both of them get in the backfield just as much, I just feel like Anderson sets up more plays than Biermann does.

Sorry if I upset anybody.

I did see Anderson get embarrassed a couple times against the Bucs. Came in too upright, let the lineman get under his pads and just move him completely out of the way. Dude's tall and has to play at a lower pad level. That's a problem of his that dates back to college.

He's not a full time player. He's a part time, situational, non-pass rushing DE.

Anderson back at end

Earlier in the season, Jamaal Anderson was splitting time at tackle and defensive end. With the development of tackle Vance Walker and the full recovery of tackle Peria Jerry from knee surgery, Anderson has been moved back exclusively to end.

"If I need to go back in there at tackle, I'll be ready," Anderson said.

Hate to say it, might be a good move, hes been more explosive and Bierman, Chauncy and all just haven't been. Bierman is when the situation is right, but hes just not heavy enough. Hope JA98 gets 6 sacks in a hurry. :P

I hope this means that Jerry is going to tear it up the last few games of the year, sure could use another DT to make plays.

I think it does mean that. And I doubt Jam goes anywhere if we see Kroyªs role reduced to passing situations only and his sacks go up. I think the NFL should be scared, a healthy Peria Jerry probably means we are taking cuffs off of him and if thats the case our A gap blitz with Spoon when Peria is in could be devastating.

I see this as the Falcon's plan coming together. They slow walked Jerry back into the lineup and JA98 will make the run game more stout by moving back to DE with KB. Likewise, Peters got a lot of valuable experience and can contribute. That's the plan, we have a D-line that isn't great but can do a lot of different things well and not tire out early. Depth Kills!

We have way too many role players at DE and JA98 is one of them. It is pretty obvious that if we want to improve our pass rush via free agency or draft, one of those role players has to go. The good thing is that competition is guarenteed and I don´t have a problem with JA98 winning or losing the training camp competion next year. But it will still be a competition for a backup slot...

The problem is we have 5 ends and only one of them is a true pass rusher and he is not getting any younger. Biermann is looking more and more like a backup. Sidbury doesn't get any playing time while Davis and Anderson are useless on passing downs.

You could make a case for keeping Anderson because he is young and perhaps as a backup to the line but then we still have to chop 2 ends to make room for a true LDE and future Abe.

Well, Sidbury might as well go. If anything, judging by his opportunities he's regressed. And I'd rather have Anderson on the field over Davis because Anderson is more versatile and has a higher upside.

I must say though, I'm really disappointed with the apparent lack of progression of Sidbury. I honestly thought he'd make a case to be the heir apparent to Abraham after this season.

I said it this past draft, but obviously the front office knows more than I do, so I can't really knock em... but defensive end needs to be a priority. DE and OL for this years draft.

I've got to disagree here on who goes if anyones leaving its ABE as at his age of 32+ and the fact that he'll be getting 10 mill + next season I've got to think seriously the FO will be looking long and hard at FA for a DE as we can get someone younger and cheaper and freeing up 10 mill in salary gives us more room to manuover and then we can keep the rotation policy going on the other side with Biermann and Davis.

The bonus of doing this is if Sidbury develops in the off season this is a bonus you can also move him into the rotation.People may think I'm crazy saying we have to off load Abe but we can't hold onto him forever and he won't be given another contract I'm pretty sure of that so I'm thinking as above we move him out now and bring someone younger in.
