Watch this and tell me the differences between 1998 & 2010

The 1998 Vikings were choked by an "inferior" Falcons team. We didn't have the world's greatest QB in Chris Chandler. We didn't have an all world runner in Jaamal Anderson. Terrance Mathis and Tony Martin (remember?) were ends. Our defense was anchored by Jessie the Hammer and a bunch of no names. However, in this video, the Vikings cried about having everything "lined up" for them...... and the Vikings still lost. The difference is that we've taken nothing for granted. We've lined up and now sit staring at a favorable schedule that has shrunk to 4 games. Listen to the Vikings whine!! We don't think like they did. They were the all high and mighty playing at home. They had Randall Cunningham, Chris Carter, John Randall, Randy Moss, and a can't miss kicker named Gary Anderson. They scored a record number of points all year. Now, 12 years later, I still see an "L" in front of the NFC Championship game. Why? We were a better TEAM.. not individuals with huge stats.. a team. This current group of Falcons is a team. We have a QB and a good RB and excellent ends and a defense that is 7th in the league re: 7th least points given up.

Watch this video and remember that WE AREN'T THEM, WE ARE VERY DIFFERENT. Let the league ignore us. Let the writers DIS us!! Let the entire country think we can't get it done. In 1998 we proved them all wrong... we are about to do it again.

RISE UP ATLANTA!!!

Amen. Ditto. Cosign. Concur. Agree and approve of this message.

All they need to do is keep winning. As long as they win three games after the playoffs start (assuming the get the bye), who cares how many teams Skip Bayless thinks are better than they are according to his 'eye test'?

So let the media continue to ride the Eagles, Bears, and Saints like a porn star in her first flick. Let the trolls continue to write about how much better 'their' team is and how ours will fail. Our day is coming...

Our day of reckoning will happen when Roger Goodell is handing Arthur the Lombardi trophy in Jerry World come February. Then we can watch guys like Bayless and Dilfer backpedal like a cornerback at the NFL Combine when folks call them out on national TV (and you know someone from here eventually will). We can put the trolls' ID on milk cartons because we won't see them on our boards again. No Saint trolls with Drew Brees' mug on their sigs. No Vick-o-phants talking about how weak Ryan's arms is. They'll suddenly 'lose' the website to the Falcons' boards and won't return.

That is a day to look forward to ladies and gents...

The media picks a new team between the Bears, Eagles, and Giants each week based on who has had the most recent hot game.

There has been one consistent team over the long haul.

We have played a statistically harder schedule than any of those teams. As long as we beat the Panthers twice, the smart money has to be on us in the playoffs.

Just wanted to correct your statement in bold italics...the Falcons had a pretty darn well known bunch on defense. Ray Buchanon, Eugene Robinson, Cornelius Bennett, Chuck Smith and Travis Hall along with Tuggle were all multiple Pro Bowl or former Pro Bowl players. Nothing no name about that defense, ok. :)

The sad thing about that victory over the Vikings is, the Falcons left too much on the field. This game along with Robinson's major screwup seemed to take a lot of the wind out of the Falcons' sails. Denver just beat the tar out of Atlanta in the Super Bowl.

Another MAJOR difference is that you won't even make it to the Superbowl this year, much less lose it again. You also have the defending Superbowl Champions breathing down your neck, as healthy as ever. Keep getting all of the props from the national media. We enjoyed the hype last year. We will gladly sit in our position, come to your err... our house and beat you on the 27 th. Then just as you are all felling good, about your number one seed, we will come back to your err..... out house and take you out of the playoffs for good on route to the 2 DAT.

2 dat? thats cute. But no one is breathing down the Falcons neck. You need to be worried about the Rams and Ravens because if the aints lose either of those the Falcons will run away with the div.

Just remember We Dat and we did Dat in your Dome, have fun coming to the Georgia Dome and after we win I guess we can say 2 Dat or we will say SWEPT DAT.

I bet you were waiting all week long for just the right time to say "2Dat". <_<

If I were you, I would be less concerned about The Falcons and more concerned about The Rams. They are not an easy win.

It's funny how there are so many great memories from that season and I'm proud to say I was there for every home game but I was left with one very sad memory and it wasn't losing the Super Bowl but what I saw for the first time during the Super Bowl and that was the realization that Jessie Tuggle had lost a step. That was a tough blow to take...

Man, those Vikings fans are whiners. They seemed to think that a game against a 14 and two team should have been a gimme. You know, you don't call any 14-2 team CLEARLY inferior et al.

Yep.

It amazes me that NOBODY game us any chance at all in that game. People still talk about that game as one of the biggest upsets ever, like we were some 8-8 team that got very lucky and somehow upset a team that was clearly much better than it. How can a 14-2 team be regarded as a no hoper?

In reality, the 1998 Falcons won as many games as most super bowl winners do. In fact, no super bowl winner since 1998 has won more than 14 regular season games. In any other year since 1985, 14-2 would have been THE best record in the NFC.

King, i will give you props cause y'all beat the Queens when nobody thought you would, in their house. Any additional heartbreak anyone can give the Queens, their city and their fans is gladly appreciated. I will also give the Falcons props if they do take down the Saints and win the Superbowl. Until then, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS !!

This message underlines in SPADES how elusive wins can be in the NFL.............any game, any day, any team.

Smitty preaches ONE GAME AT A TIME................and he means it, he BELIEVES it.

You don't win by "being the better team" in the world of opinions. You win by not looking ahead and by treating EVERY game the same regardless of who the opponent is or what their record is.

The 1-11 Panthers can easily beat the 10-2 Falcons this Sunday if the Falcons think of the Panthers as anything but a proven NFL opponent who is lethal. You must remain humble in the NFL world or you're toast.

That's what makes Smitty and the Falcons so successful......................they remain humble.
