What happened to the first round quarterback "bust"?

Can't really call a guy a bust due to injuries. Tough breaks for Stafford but when it's all said and done he'll be better than a lot of these guys being mentioned and that's saying something.

I agree. I blame Detroit for investing all of that money into him and not grabbing a franchise tackle to protect him. Didn't they pass up on Michael Oher for Brandon Pettigrew?

That is because people get caught up in a bust being someone's fault. It doesn't have to be that way. If a player is consistently hurt and cannot play for a substantial amount of time he will be considered a bust because he can't earn the money he is given. It doesn't have to be his fault it could just be bad luck but it changes nothing.

Also, because he is not able to stay on the field no one really knows what kind of qb he will be.

Yeah, I still have yet to figure out why all the draft "experts" are raving about him. Sure, he's doing decent to have no talent around him, but if he's the greatest QB prospect since Peyton Manning, I would imagine that he could make things happen without anybody, yet he barely completes over 50% of his passes and he has never shown an ability to read a defense and he scrambles entirely too soon and misses opportunities to open up the pass game. I really hope he falls to the 3rd round or farther. I'm going to feel bad for the team that drafts him.

have you watched Locker play? The guy is supremely talented. He has everything teams look for in a franchise QB. Great intangibles, great accuracy, great arm strength, great speed.

The reason his accuracy doesn't show itself off at times is because his WR's aren't very good, his RB'S aren't that impressive and his o.line sucks for the most part.

I do too. I thought Bradford was good in college only because he had a good team around him. I was wrong as well. Bradford is making it happen on a team with NO WEAPONS, cept for that beat of a RB.

I also thought Sanzhez was going to be TERRIBLE. He only started like 12 games a USC, and figured it would be in his best interest to stay one more year. He does have a **** of a team around him though, so lets see what happens when it crunch time.

Conversely I thought Leinart would easily make the transition to the pros (as did he), mainly because he was a winner and coming from a pro style system. I think it was Merrill Hoge who kept saying in pre-draft analysis "Leinart cannot make the out pass he needs to succeed in the NFL. It's easy in college when you have a lot more separation."
