Time of Possession

I love the way the Falcons just completely dominate time of possession. It is such a subtle, unheralded strategy but it works unbelievably well. Did you see Turner's TD to end the game? The Rams D basically stood and let him waltz by them. They were completely and totally gassed. It's not "sexy" and it doesn't lend itself to Sportscenter highlight reels but holy cow is it ever effective.

I love it, too. I don't mind the SF blocked punt for TD, the Cardinals 88 yard TD run, or even the Rams 3 play TD drive in the 3rd quarter today.

If they are going to score, let them score fast. It makes Turner that much more effective at the end of the game . . .

BTW, once Turner got through the front 7 (and picked up the first down) the Rams WANTED him to score. It was the only way they could get the ball back

I still believe that's what happen to us in that Pittsburgh game, because that play looked eerily like that last play from the Steeler game.

Oh sure, find the flaw in my reasoning  I'm ashamed to admit it didn't even occur to me that they let Turner through. That said, they were still fairly obviously exhausted and I'm still a big fan of the strategy we've been employing this season.

I don't think that's the case because that score made it a three possession game for the Rams with less than two minutes too play and no timeouts.

I don't think they expected Coach Smith to be ice cold and go for the 2pt conversion if they allowed the TD. No conversion and they have the opportunity -- slim though it was -- to score, convert, onside, score and convert again. The conversion rained on their parade. I'm really not too sure if that's what they were thinking or not, I doubt they'd admit it either way.
