The Falcons would have had over Two minutes to get into field goal range. A loss was far from assured.2. The Falcons needed a non call against White to beat the Ravens.Truth ...despite the ravens initiating contact, If that play never happened the Falcons were already in field goal range ... The ravens needed us to to back ourselves up with a penalty since they could not do it.
falconsd1
Sounds about right. Who cares. Haters gonna hate and keep thinking that we never have a chance until we soar into the Superbowl. With our QB, RB, and starting WR all in the top 10 in the NFL how can we be stopped?

We still have some tough games ahead. My favorite is: Before - "The Ravens are one of the NFL elite, and Atlanta needs to prove they can win against a great defense."After - "The Ravens D isn't what it used to be." "I want to see Atlanta do it on the road."I'm glad people won't give them credit, it can serve as a great motivator to the players.
the_sheff
One this for sure though, we almost lost 2 games we completely dominated. You can spin that however you want but we need to work on putting teams away.

We were probably one Roddy drop from doing that against the Ravens.
MagnusXXIII
now you know how vick feels whenever he accomplishes something the haters say he cant. they just keep raising the bar. **** the media they dont know ****. the ravens are a legit team and we were finally able to beat one. this team is heading to the super bowl unless we lose home field advantage.Actually Vick is now a media darling and best "complete" QB in the league now that he is an Eagle . FalconFanForLife
Yep GREAT win, but I too wish we wouldn't keep letting teams back in the game after dominating then. But hey a win is a win is a win.I really don't think the players listen or care what the media says myself. That crap is more for us fans to sweat. vel
Guys they were the 6-2 Ravens. They weren't 4-4. They were 6-2 for a reason. They can also argue that they can't let teams come back on them but we are the 7-2 Falcons for a reason.Letting the Bucs back in was expected they were 5-2 just like we were 5-2.Stop discounting good teams. This was the game of the week for a reason: Clash of the Titans.

Falco4
that might be a reason why the media doesn't pay any attention to us. we dominate the games that we win, until the 4th quarter. Then we make it close, and the media says, "oh, they're still shaky and are not elite".nobody gave the patriots any flack for losing to the browns...a tough defense that WE beat on the road. how does the media spin it? "Yea, the patriots lost, but Bill Belichick is an awesome coach and NE will bounce back"the ravens almost lost to the BUFFALO BILLS. The bills put 34 points on the board with a 3rd tier QB. How does the media spin it? "Ravens come away with a close victory, but we like their balance on offense and defense. They are still a #1 team"we beat the **** saints in THEIR home, and 85% of the pundits out there have the saints ranked ahead of us?! give me a break. and, if we played the Steelers at home, it would have been a different story too.i've come to the conclusion that from now on, for me, it's an US vs THEM mentality. I don't need props or respect from anybody except my fellow falcons fans. We should be in a "bubble" and ignore the noise from these people who are so called experts. They don't know what we are capable of. They can jump on the bandwagon when we hoist the lombardi trophy.

The ravens needed us to to back ourselves up with a penalty since they could not do it.THANK YOU! +1I swear these talking heads (well, 90% of them and that's be generous) only watch the highlights. The sad thing is that there are other myths:Atlanta should have lost to the Saints; they missed a chipshot fieldgoal. Other teams failure becomes ours now? Throw out 430 yards of Falcons offense, TOP dominance, two very long drives, and anything else. I can think of three plays (Biermann held on TD, Douglas' missed catch on deep route during first play of OT, DeCoud punt off leg) that we change just one, there is no OT and no opportunity for a FG.San Francisco blew the game after the INT Roddy White did the exact same thing vs. the 49ers last year. Granted it was a blowout game, but SF didn't remember that Roddy White is fast and competitive, even when he flips from offense to defense in one play.Atlanta played 3 good quarters of football vs. Cinci, and fell apart in the 3rd . Forget a minute, two minutes, or even ten minutes. Apparently we're not good enough to come back when trailing going into the fourth. Newsflash: This is no longer the YKW era.Atlanta "blew it" (Michael Wilbon analysis) vs. the Steelers on the road. When we win close games, we should have lost them. When we lose close games, that's what should have happened. This is not me making stuff up; this is what I hear week in and week out (you know I'm talking about you, Trent Dilfer). Some will say, "it doesn't matter; only 7-2 matters." Actually, it DOES matter. It portrays the Falcons as lucky and undeserving. That simply isn't the case.

xXFlashFalconXx
I all honesty, I've looked at the Roddy White TD several times and the DB was already off balance. I know Roddy said he pushed the guys off of him but looking at the tape it looks like there was very little contact between the two. It definitely wasn't PI. Ref made a good no call. I'm glad the media still doubts us though. It still allows us to fly under the radar and keep racking up wins. We need to go on the road and handle the Rams then come back here and destroy the Packers. I have a freind who's a Packers fan and has been feeling really good about his team ever since they beat the lowly Cowboys. He's been making subtle comments about the game so I can't wait to get to that game so we can shut him and the doubters up.

didz
Yes the Falcons won those games in dramatic fashion, but they still need to end the game when they get that good looking lead. I feel this team still needs to put it all together one of these games and prove to themselves that the defense can help the offense and vice versa.
