ballfan
While I believe Ryan is certainly a top 10 QB, it is hard to quantify. Some QBs work with pass-first schemes. Some live on reputations, some have huge arms.Ryan does not have crazy numbers, he has a balanced offense, he does not have "look at me" receivers. He flies under the radar and this is a highlight reel industry. I really don't think most of the commentators have the knowledge to support their statements.Again, until he will playoff games and a SB, he will not be included with the top 3 that are always mentioned. ballfan
As the Falcons continue to win, they will get more respect. Remember 98? No respect all the way to the SB. We are watching a winning tradition being built. Cool stuff, but the media is slow to follow. They still hug the Cowboys as if they are winners. Back to back playoff winning years is the next benchmark for this team. Getting to the playoffs is not enough.

supremedarius
No disrespect to Rodgers but Ryan has a better winning percentage AND has is more clutch. Rodgers doesnt have a game winning drive nor a game winning play. Look it up
Quiksilverly
Ryan shows the evidence all the time that he will be one of the best, even though he makes mistakes, he still gets better every game. He could be the best ever... who knows. For right now I'm comfortable with everyone underestimating him or being superhigh on him either way he has motivation to get better, but stay on the humble as well. Dharma Initiative
They also named Favre which is insane considering this season
IonSen88
then why is matt ryans winning % is better. LOLOr why is Ryan's quarterback rating better?
JayOzOne
None of this is worth lathering about. It's his opinion and he's entitled to it. I'll take Matt Ryan over his top 10 any day because we're 7-2 and none of them are.
yardbird?
I'm no expert, but Ryan looks top 10 to me...the only thing he lacks is emotion and a desire to be a media whore....like Farve.....He'll be fine.

slamee101
Yea, I saw it and just laughed. The host (can't remember his name) was kind of shocked and seemed to think Rod and Jamie were wrong. I think maybe Rod misunderstood the question and was trying to create an all-time list. Claiming McNabb and Favre were better right now suggests he did. Claiming Schaub is better is silly to me as that guy had one good year (statistically). I'd say there are maybe 7 or so QBs you could put in front of Matt right now but saying he's outside of the top 12 right now just kind of made him look like a hater after scoffing at the thought that we could be in the SB the night before. vel
I'm no expert, but Ryan looks top 10 to me...the only thing he lacks is emotion and a desire to be a media whore....like Farve.....He'll be fine.Did you not see him on fire in the Saints game?! Flacco lacks emotion. When they were on the sideline down 13-0 it took Anquan Boldin to fire up the offense. When we were down 21-20, Ryan went into the huddle clapping and rallying the troops embracing the challenge. I can understand Romo, but Ryan is WAAAAAY better than McNabb at this point. Would Ryan get benched this season? If we needed a game winning drive, would we sub out Ryan for Rex Grossman?I would take McNabb over Ryan by a slight margin. McNabb has done more with less in Philly than Ryan. Just because he was pulled for Grossman doesn't make him a bad QB. It makes Shanahan look dumb because McNabb has HOF credentials (whether you like it or not) and if he had a ring he would definitely go. Maybe not first ballot but he would eventually get in there. The QBs that are better than Ryan at this point IMO:1. Manning2. Brady3. Brees4. Rivers5. Rodgers6a. McNabb6b. Ryan
JayOzOne
It's just silliness on the order of Warren Sapp not believing Roddy was top 5 even though he struggled to name five receivers that he thinks are better. "And then there's uh... Miles Austin? Yeah, that's the ticket!" If you're demonstrative on your point, you should be able to rattle the names off with no BS like McNabb, Schaub, or Favre. So he would be 13 at worst in this post. And Garrard is way above Delhomme. Your tiers are a little messy.
Duff_Man
I have made a realization. People now are ranking players by fantasy numbers instead of watching the games.
WCFalcon
I just thought about this...Why is Matt on the MVP Watch, but he isn't considered a Top 10 QB? Hm... Just a thought :PBut besides that, I don't think people should consider him a top 10 QB because he's only in his 3rd year. Wait until next year, or maybe the year after that, and he will definitely be top 10 QB Edited November 13, 2010 by FalconFan03

metatron360
rod had vick on his list above ryan. that shows bias right there. look at our team with ryan. much better consistant team. mostly same offence. mcnabb over ryan wasnt he benched by 2 head coach's and replaced by 2 QB's vick and kolbe. ill barely give you rivers and rogers and brees. but really? who else is there other than brady, manning and rothlisburger. inside the top 10 is where i put ryan. system wise he is one of the most effecient qb's.
