Falcon fans did their part.

Recommended Posts

I keep reading about the playoff atmosphere and how Atlanta has become a tough place for opposing teams. We, as fans, did our part last night. The Dome was electric! I want to thank every one of you that helped our team with the 12th man. Personally I will be sounding like crap for the next couple of days with a scratchy voice but it was **** well worth it.

If we continue to bring that type of intensity as the 12th man, we will have a huge advantage against any team that steps into the Dome.

Thanks.

That stadium was electric last night. From the time I got to the MARTA parking and the lot was so full I knew it was going to be a special night at the Dome.

When Baltimore scored I just knew that Ryan was going to win it for us. Had a Raven fan next to me running his mouth after their score. I told him don't leave yet. Stay and witness greatness.

He ran to the exit crying after the TD with me letting him know: Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmble!!!

It was pretty loud and those "Flags" were awesome.

Crying? That must have been awesome. I confess, I was disappointed at the early turnout. The NFL Network Pregame Show was scary, there were a few people in the Dome.

The message board reacted prematurely, including myself. It gave a misleading picture of the turnout in the Dome. Because when the game started it was a different view. When the actual game started it was wall-to-wall people. And the Falcon flags were awesome.

The dome sounded great last night. It was definitely the loudest game I have ever been too. What killed me was when "fans" in my section, as well as the surrounding sections, were leaving with 11:00 minutes left in the fourth. I know they usually leave early but that was ridiculous.

I am glad to hear that we rocked. The NFL Networks feed into Direct TV was very sterile IMO. The crowd noise almost seemed the entire game like the dome was half filled. The network did their best NOT to show the crowd like a normal Fox or CBS or NBC game so I wasn't sure.

When the Ravens started their comeback - I could hear their fans very loud- almost like the network was giving them equal voice. strange. When the Ravens were kicking the extra point to go ahead- the network seemed to turn up the chant "let's go Ravens" it was very distinctive.

I see all the games here in Dallas with the NFL Sunday ticket and I have noticed over the years that the Georgia Dome TV trucks must sanitize the crowd noise somehow as it seems mostly absent.

For those who were at the game, were there a lot of Ravens fans? Cuz on the catches heap had all you heard was the cheer: "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP" and it sounded pretty dang loud

There were a lot more fans there last night than back in 2006. They had a bigger showing than I thought but definitely didn't take the place over when the Ravens were on defense.

Thats what it seemed like, it seemed that every time they got loud you guys took it as a challenge to get louder then them. Thats what home field advantage is all about.

Do we still have that noise "graph" we had back in 2008? I thought it was kinda cool to see how loud the place was and what it was equivalent to.

This.

I was surprised at the amount of Ravens fans there as well. I happened to have a couple near me that ran their mouths the WHOLE game. After the game winning TD I looked down to see the loudest one gone... vanished. The other guy at least stood there and took it like a man until the game was over. :P

I heard the "HEEAAAPPP" cheer every time he caught a ball. A bit disappointing, but what are ya gonna do?

Maybe we are talking about different things. During the game last night, they would put a noise meter up on the jumbo-trons during crucial situations. The crowd took it as a challenge to peg it out in the red. It was pretty cool.

Yea were talking about different things ahaha.

In 2008, someone made a graph after each home game with the AVG. decibel level of the crowd and the highest level during the game. Then they would compare it to something like a Jet Engine, a lawn mower, etc...

It used to be on the home page but i dont know if its still done.

I know they used to do a real db measurement back then but they have on the video board kind of like a bar graph that shows the noise level getting louder. It's not real but who cares it seems to encourage the otherwise reserved fans to yell as if it is a challenge to see how loud they can get. I hate to admit but I think the NFL allowing the announcer to pump people back up again is effective.

Im assuming its the same thing you see at Baseball games. I wish theyd bring back that other one though.

FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons coach Mike Smith enjoyed the atmosphere at the Georgia Dome during their 26-21 victory over Baltimore.

“It was electric,” Smith said. “It was the best crowd that we’ve had in the three years we’ve been here. My ears are still ringing from the game last night.”

Smith also thinks the Georgia Dome crowd is knowledgeable.

“Those fans know how to cheer,” Smith said. “They know when to get loud and they know when to get quiet. I think our players feed off of that. It’s really positive energy. I think it helps, it really does.”

The Falcons are 5-0 at home this season. The team is 18-3 in the Dome under Smith.

“In our three years here we are really started to establish a home field advantage,” Smith said.
