sharky
Last night Matty was so cool, he sneezed snow flakes and sweated ice cubes. Dude put on a show and the best game of his career. Hats off to Matty, the OL, DL, ST, Receivers, and RB's, OC, and DC, and most of all Mike Smith. Man, what a show.

Finally
He earned it his rookie year. Why it has taken another year and a half to trust him to do what he did well as a rookie is anyone's guess.

maxatlanta
Amen. This isn't a new development for most of us.Thank you, he was doing this stuff back at BC. That Virginia Tech game was an instant classic. It's what people have been referring to as "intangibles" ever since the '08 draft. Most just didn't understand or appreciate a QB's "intangibles" because they aren't easily measured. Before we began our drive with a minute left, does anyone believe that a single player in that huddle doubted each other? They all visualized success and it couldn't have happened without total confidence in their QB. And for Ryan to stay so dialed in with guys dropping the ball on him was beautiful. How do you think the higher rated Phillip Rivers would have handled things after the 3rd drop???
slamee101
I'm not gonna lie...after a couple of games last year and the start of this season I had started to worry about his late game decision-making. Not anymore. Sure, he'll make some mistakes at some key moments but I think he's more than proven that he's $ in the clutch.

SnowfaLL
i personally think he earned it by the 11 second gameThe 11 second one, I considered maybe a fluke.. But last night was almost the EXACT same situaition, Jenkins catch on the sidelines under mad pressure that sets up the game winning fieldgoal.. It only happens we had 40 seconds instead of 11 seconds, and Roddy took it over instead of the fieldgoal. But same situation. That is not a fluke. Not anymore. Sure, he'll make some mistakes at some key moments but I think he's more than proven that he's $ in the clutch. And this is why I say that he has earned the name. Some of these folks need to stop acting like they knew all along b/c they didn't. There were a lot of threads on this board questioning Matty's decisions, arm strength and/or mobility. Thursday's game made me a believer.

It was truly undeniable in that game vs VA Tech! Arguably the most epic thing I have ever seen in college football.
Dem Birds
Ryan's really only made one bad decision that I can remember during a game winning drive and that was against the 9er's this year and that didn't even cost us cause Roddy bailed him out. There's a lot of elite college players that comes out but don't make it on the pro level. Griffin won two heisman trophys but couldn't make it in the pros, so no one reeally knows for sure. The Thursday night game confirmed that Ryan is a pro bowl type QB.

This is addressed to certain individuals who think we have selective memories when in fact it's quite the opposite.
GreensboroNCFalcon
I think we should call him the magic man. First the other team sees they have a lead (wave hands in front of face) Then they dont.

We also had the Steelers game INT and the Saints MNF game where he threw one late. I'm not throwing this out there b/c clearly I love Matt Ryan as our qb but acting like it was unfair to question his play at times late in games... JTRaines92
Absolutely! Also, he did it against arguably the best D in the NFL. A star has been born.

Well I was wrong it was the exact same play to Jenkins with the game on the line. I can't believe I got to see that play again it was so satisfying. He had a nice one against Clemson that Tiger fans don't forget. Edited November 15, 2010 by dmite
