Hardyfalcon
Skipp Bayless just said on espn 1st and 10 that former falcon Chris Houston is playing at a probowl level! I guess the falcons should have kept him. Sike!
Dem Birds
I figured he'd excel in the Lions system, we still shouldn't have kept him though because he struggled in ours. Too bad we couldn't get a little more for him. Oh well.

DavyDmx
He finally must have learned how to turn his head. Good for him. That used to irritate me to the highest watching him either get burnt deep or being penalized for pass interference because of that . I'm happy that he is making the best of his second chance in Detroit though .
Threepac Daddy
if houston can learn to turn his head, he will be a great cb in this league
atljbo
at a probowl level is over doing it.... I do think he has been better because he fits that man coverage system. Both Houston and Alphonso Smith are playing good... He still dont turn his head to make the ints but his coverage is good

I'm Glad Chevis got his bus ticket too.

Now that I have seen the comparisons with our CB's and Crisp Houston, I think Skip should be giving the same props to Brent Grimes. Brent Grimes is having Pro Bowl year too. But, from what it sounds like, Houston is doing well. In reference to the Lions' most recent game against the Redskins, Schwartz said,"The rushing yards in this game came out of the quarterback," Schwartz said. "You can't do that and gang up the way we did without having Alphonso Smith and Chris Houston being able to man-up and be able to play single coverage outside."I'm sure Bayless hasn't been studying any film on the Lions, so I'm sure he reiterated what someone close to the organization said saying Houston is playing at a pro-bowl level. Porkins
For the most part, using superficial stats (like you presented) to judge a corner's play is not all that indicative of how well a corner is really playing.I'll quasi-agree, but as I haven't seen any more of Houston's game this year than likely Skip Bayless has this is what I have to go on. I'm still sure Houston is neither statistically nor realistically playing in the top 3-5 in his position which would constitute a Pro Bowl selection. Disagree? muskokas finest ©
Regular play from Houston should guarantee the conditional 7th rounder from the Lions for next year's draft
Tax-Falcon
Please guys, take this with a grain of salt. Skip Bayless. Let it soak in, let it resonate.
BlazerHarvard
I'm still sure Houston is neither statistically nor realistically playing in the top 3-5 in his position which would constitute a Pro Bowl selection. Disagree? That's just a biased assumption you're making based off of what you remember of him as an Atlanta Falcon. I haven't personally witnessed his play, so I'm not going to agree or disagree with the statement that he's playing (or not playing) at a pro-bowl level. For all either of us know, he may very well be playing at that kind of level. The fact that people within the organization and close to the organization are talking about him in that kind of light indicates that he must be playing pretty well right now. Will he make it to the Pro Bowl?Probably not. Then again, he plays for a 2-5 team (albeit a solid 2-5 team) that doesn't get a lot of publicity or love in the media world. As a Falcon fan, I'm sure you probably know how it feels when, from time to time, one of our players doesn't get the kind of love that (we think) he deserves. Babineaux is a pretty good example of that. Point is, there's no reason to down the guy for turning his career around. Plus, it's not like he was a Cedric Benson or Pacman Jones when he was here; it just simply did not work for him here.
Porkins
That's just a biased assumption you're making based off of what you remember of him as an Atlanta Falcon. Actually, that's just an assumption you're making on my remarks. I actually liked Chris Houston and thought he could always become a quality DB in the league.. it was a matter of inches for him a lot of times.. he seemed to always be right at the cusp of making the big play but somehow just couldn't quite do it.A large part of my assumption is based off of Skip Bayless being the one saying "Pro Bowl level." Skip is about 6 cans short of a 6 pack and has always been the one to bring up nonsense on the air. I take this latest comment as more of the same. That coupled with what I can see statistically from Houston's play and what I know other DBs are doing in the league at the moment.. well, Houston ain't making the Pro Bowl. I just presented a statistical comparison to our own DBs.. just so we could see how they stack up. Statistically, he compares with Chris Owens. If that's a "downer" that's not my insinuation or problem.
Shiney_McShine
It's not just Houston that is playing better. The entire Lions defense is. They have a monster on the DL that is making a big impact. Anytime the DL puts pressure on the QB, the DBs will always look better.

BlazerHarvard
Actually, that's just an assumption you're making on my remarks. LMAOSo when you CLEARLY admit you haven't watched him this year, yet say, "I'm still sure Houston is neither statistically nor realistically playing in the top 3-5 in his position", that's not an assumption? If you make that kind of statement, it is obviously clear that you are BIASED because of how he played as an ATLANTA FALCON.That is a fact. Have a good day now. Captain Falcon
I wouldn't really say that he is just playing better in the system. It just took him getting cut to realize he sucked and needed to step up.
