packfntk
Hey guys-Heading to the game on November 28th and was hoping to get a little information regarding tailgating. Where is the "hot spot" at? I was told that it was the Brown or Yellow lots? Is that correct? I was also told that you can tailgate in the VI? Lot. Is that correct?Any info is appreciated. How is the tailgating? Is there room? Are the lots big? Can you get in without a pass? Let me know any info. Thanks!

packfntk
And if the lots are a first come, first serve basis, where do you line up to park?
Tandy
Here is a map of the Dome parking areas along with traffic arrows for incoming to the games:That Area Marked A - that is the Gulch. There is also a lot of tailgating at the Brown and Blue lots and all around there people set up places but it doesn't identify those that well on that map - try this one to get a better idea where they are

Tandy
And also, are those lots first come first serve? How early do they open and do a lot of people show up early to park? How big are the lots? Some of the lots are bigger than others of course. The gulch is huge - and it's really below the level of the Dome itself - so you go up to get to the Dome. This year, they are only opening the Yellow and Green lots for public parking during the games (this only applies to the Georgia Dome owned parking lots). You have to have a pass for the others - so if you decide to go to one other than the green or yellow lot - buy a pass from Ebay or Stubhub or something.I park in the Brown lot - which is new this year. I really like it - it's very close and lots of tailgating around the area but it's not nearly as large as some of the others.I'm not sure what time they actually open - but we are usually there 3 1/2 to 4 hours before the game. We go up to the Falcons Landing before the game and then go in the gates 2 hours before kick-off when they open.Over time, we've parked in a lot of different places. We used to park in the gulch - but for the last several years, we were parking in right across from Phillips Arena in that area marked 10 on the map. It cost $20 and was close and convenient. packfntk
So the gulch is LOT A on this map?http://www.gadome.com/doc/Public%20Traffic%20in.pdfAnd lots of tailgating? And this is first come first serve?
Goal Line D
Brown and Orange lots have a great tailgating scene but you have to have a parking pass to get in those lots.

Tandy
Yeah we are in section 101 Row 1.You are on the other side from the Packer tunnel then - but you are on the side of the field they warm up on. If you walk down the front aisle until you get to section 108 - that's where they come out of the tunnel. Depending on the team - a lot of them sign for their fans there. Just an FYI!Hope you have a great time!

I have already asked some people, but what should we expect from Falcon fans? Is it loud there?
Tandy
Dammit, I was told that they come out in front of 101. That sucks. Well, it will be fun none the less. I have already asked some people, but what should we expect from Falcon fans? Is it loud there? No - both teams come out of the tunnel on the Falcons side of the field - but opposite end zones. The opposing team comes out around 108 - but the team itself is on that side of the field.Falcon fans are an odd bunch. I've been going to the games for 39 years now - and let me try to explain what you will deal with. For the most part - Falcon fans are pretty great with opposing fans - but like every stadium - there are a small few you would be better off ignoring. Personally, I have a great time with opposing fans - smack talk and laughter is part of the game day experience for me. You'll get smack talk - but 99.9% is just all in fun - and the other .1% - just look the other way.I posted a response about the atmosphere to someone coming up for the Bucs game - I'll copy it here - it pretty much lets you know what to expect as far as loudness - etc.1. Lots of Buc Packer fans - they are a division rival and have lots of support from their fans at our games. There were fewer last year - but this year they are doing well. Expect a good turnout.2. Full house - AFTER FIRST QUARTER. (This is regarding Falcon fans)3. If you get in your seat before kickoff - you will look around and go WTF? There will be so many empy seats it will look like it's an hour or so before kickoff in most stadiums. You will hear lots of Buc Packer fans cheering and will think - Are you kidding me? Are there Do we have more Buc Pack fans than Falcon fans here?4. If you are sitting on the aisle and trying to watch the kickoff and game - you will constantly be having to get up and let people who have finally decided to join the game coming in. You will miss a lot of the action in the first quarter because people are constantly asking you to let them by. I would say about 1/2 to 3/4 of your section will be coming in mid 1st to early 2nd quarter.5. By second quarter - the dome will be rocking with Falcon fans. It will get very, very loud. However, there are so many of our fans that can't figure out that they are supposed to yell on defense and get quiet on offense that you will be shocked to hear how loud it is during a long 3rd or 4th down conversion try. I don't know why - and Lord knows - plenty of us try with the palms down - but it is what it is, I guess.
packfntk
Interesting. That is the way it was in Pittsburgh. The stadium was empty for the first quarter. It was odd. That is good to hear that the fans are mostly good. Places like Philly are **** to go to because the fans are jerks. We have had pretty decent luck with the places that we have been to for the most part. Any pointers for what to do while we are in town? I have been told to go to Varsity's to eat. Still deciding on bars/etc. What should we expect for pre-game? Is it pretty crazy, or do most fans not get there until later as well?
