SacFalcFan
During his weekly Monday afternoon press conference, Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer announced that freshman safety Jonathan Dowling is no longer a member of the football program due to a violation of team rules.Rated as a five-star athlete coming out of high school by ESPNU, Dowling was also listed as the best at his position and the No. 10 recruit in the country last year. Rivals and Scout each considered him a four-star prospect and one of the top safeties in the nation.Unlike other dismissals, Meyer noted that Dowling is “done” with the team and will not be returning to the program. He refused to comment further.Read more: http://www.onlygators.com/#ixzz1436UuOfa

Mr Pickle1
What happened to this kid? Simply couldn't play, or did he tell Meyer's wife "time to die, *****"?Very surprising, as I thought he had talent, and it is almost impossible to get talented kids off that UF roster. Nicolae
Seriously?!? What the **** does someone have to do to get kicked off of UF's football team. Did Dowling have something to do with mailing those bombs to the synagogues or something? Short of something of that nature, I cannot fathom a player being permanently kicked off any team by Urban.Maybe Dowling is Jigsaw? I'm sure, if he is needed, he will be miraculously forgiven and reinstated for the FSU game. Or USC. Whenever the mood strikes Urban or the local media starts writing negative pieces about him. Meyer was pushing hard for some internal discipline and no longer allowing him to play on special teams, but cooler heads prevailed.

Mr Pickle1
Considering how many people Meyer has kicked of the team, sounds like to me you need to do some research...Yeah I have. Most of the people kicked off seem like they should definitely be behind bars, and have NO place on a college football team. "Hi, I like to steal the credit cards of my teammates dead girlfriends, and rack up mammoth bills...""P.S. I also turned out to not be very good, so it was much easier to kick me off." Deacon 13
Will we ever know what Dowling did? I read one rumor that he was flunking out of school. But I don't know how credable that is.

youngbloodz
Meyer did this because he caught so much heat for letting Rainey come back. It had better been worse than what Rainey did. Or else Urban will lose what respect he has left to some people. And no Gator fans I don't care if Urban cares if I respect him or not. But you guys do because you will reply back to what I said and whine about it

He is proving to be a great academic disciplinarian and is truly doing an outstanding job...Case and Point: Look at the impeccable grammar employed in Rainey's death threats. Obviously, Urban has taught them well.
