I don't think you should mix politics with football.

Couldn't find the Anything but Football Forum so I decided to post it here.

I have two children, no way I want it legal.

You can expect countries where it is legal to make it illegal within the next 20 years,.

Prop 19 makes it legal for adults over 21, Like alcohol is now.

Not that I'm saying that I support it, but your kids will be able to get their hands on it no problem if it stays illegal.

It'll be way harder for them to get it if legalized, as they need to be 21 or older. Its the same way with alcohol. Although its not too hard to get your hands on if your a teenager, its still significantly harder to get your hands on it than it is to get some Marijuana.

And no, you can't expect that. Legalized cannabis in Amsterdam has actually shown a decrease in the overall population that smokes Marijuana.

I've always wondered why it was illegal in the first place

It's a long story, but originally it was because hemp (you can't get high off of hemp) made 50,000 products, including oil that cars could run on.

Ford's first engine was originally designed to run off of hemp oil.

Well, let's just say gasoline companies didn't really like this. So, being as rich as powerful as they were, they vied for the government to put extremely ridiculous laws on possession of Marijuana and hemp.

Sorry, but this excuse here is one of the dumbest people are using. It makes no sense. Explain further on your comment please. While you think of your excuse, please keep in mind that prescription drugs and alcohol rank among the highest drugs abused by teens. They also cause the most deaths among teens. Marijuana causes some health issues just like any other drug, but it is in no way any worse than what you use on a daily basis.

Well seeing as how I went to Humboldt State University I'll just add that it might as well be legal. Not only because you can get it anyway, but also because the entire North Coast economy in California already depends on the cultivation and sale of marijuana. To be able to legalize, and tax, something that people are using anyway is a great way to be able to cut into our state's deficit. Furthermore, stoners are no more stupid than alcoholics; so we can legalize it without ramifications to society being seen. Anyway, the only other thing I'll add is seeing the Cowboys getting killed right now by the Jags is AWESOME!!!

I am in the Navy and live in San Diego. This state is suffering really bad. I hope this passes to help this place out with money.

I def think is a good bill that should go through really in every state could use this. Would help the economy in more then just one way, folks would also increase there grocery bill as well. Kinda looks like a win win situation to me as long as it is controlled properly by laws.

How pathetic is it that Cali has to resort to desperate measures like legalizing weed to help their out of control spending. When that doesn't help they'll want to legalize meth. There is a good aspect to this, when this measure passes then fails miserably with drug use exploding, disfunctional behavior sky rocketing, a mass exodus of productive residents and the California budget deficit worse than before the whole nation will see how moronic and foolish this state has been and continues to be. The only ones left will be stoners, illegal aliens and liberal freaks. What a waste of a beautiful state.

You have some points but comparing meth to weed is a reach at best..... <_<

I don't smoke it and I don't live in California, but I think it should be legal and the punishment for operating a vehicle under the influence should be the same as it is for alcohol.

I also think that employees should have the right to forbid use of it on the job - exactly as they can for alcohol.

If they legalize it and tax it - the country wins in several ways.

1. They collect the money the drug dealers are collecting now - maybe they can hire them to sell it and bump up the employed persons numbers.

2. They can control and put restrictions on the quality of ingredients that go into it - thereby stopping the contamination and poisoning of people who use it.

3. While they'll never stop young people from buying it - no more than they stop them from buying alcohol and cigarettes - they can impose punishment on the vendors - just as they do for those products.

While this will not bring the epidemic of young children from using the drug any more than it stops the use of alcohol or cigarettes, it would definitely allow more control over the product.

Just my opinion - and this is from a non-smoker.
