Dawgy
We have turned the corner- for the better. If it sounds crazy, let me put that into perspective-I had picked UGA to lose by 7-10 points today. Why? Because UF had enough coming back with Rainey and Demps to re-start the offense, one week's rest, and the biggest one, the psychological edge. The first play set the stage. No- not the INT, but the fair catch called on the opening kickoff when the coverage was at least 10 yards away. That's playing scared and tight. In the first half, everything I thought happened- we tried to do too much, played tight and turned the ball over, and were doing even worse than I thought. Then something happened in H2. The defense kept hitting harder and harder. The offense kept coming back. No one gave up. It was no longer Joe Cox's team from last year. Sure- the D made mistakes as we all thought they might, sure the young QB struggled a bit with his reads and throws. But everyone believed. It is all about the attitude. Our coaches always believed we can win. But I think our D coaches are making the players believe. Today for the first time I saw our D hit and run the way they did 5 years ago- under Vangorder. I saw an offense that kept coming back to score 24 points in H2; an offense that did not panic and kept mixing the run and pass. You saw everyone on the UGA side believed. And for the first time, you saw doubt on Meyer's face. This is a young team- this belief will stick.I'm not a "next year is our year" guy- but I for one can not wait to see this new D and a mature QB next year, hopefully along with our target recruits. Some people are no doubt shouting- "fire CMR". They were probably the same people calling for a big UGA win. So let's get real folks- give some time to CMR to readjust him and us to a new culture. I have always said that CMR can only be evaluated properly at the end of next year. This team is coming back- it's a slow and painful journey- but we'll get there. I'm poud of how we fought today. jtcrews75
This is a good post and I agree with everything you said. The last three years our team quit in the second half today we saw some heart. I know what people will say, its sad your happy about losing and all that. Make no mistake I'm not happy at this I just prefer to look at the positives.
MemphibianDawg
Absolutely. I saw no quit in our team today.
Carter
The opening kickoff was called a fair catch because it was a short kick and one of the blockers on special teams had to catch the ball. Calling a fair catch is pretty standard procedure in that situation. Our players were not scared one bit in this game. Murray's nerves were a wreck in the 1st half, but he was not scared of playing the Florida Gators. I hate hearing that crap.
tjb
I'm too ticked off right now to give an honest assessment on my feelings. I agree, I'm proud they fought back and didn't give up. That's something I haven't seen the last few years.

Xnex
I found several things about UA which impressed me today. Murray could have easily collapsed mentally after such a poor start to the game. He looked rattled to me and I was concerned that he might not be able to regain his composure. But he did. Overall I thought he had a very good game for a Freshman playing UF for the 1st time. You guys just "spotted" them too many points before you finally woke up. I know I'll get killed on here for this, but I think AJ is showing a little bit of a prima dona attitude when the ball isn't coming his way. I know that all great wr's want the ball, and are "always wide open", but with Murray beina a Freshman, I thought there were a few times in which AJ looked a little too demonstrative(sp) out there. Rambo really irks me, and I would feel the same way if I were a UGA fan. He delivers a huge hit on the UF receiver and then gets up and has to start making the sign for an incomplete pass just to draw some attention his way. But the dude caught the ball, and thus Rambo looked a bit like a tool on that one. Were I a UGA fan I know I would be bummed out tonight. But when my mind eventually cleared a little I would feel pretty good about how UGA has bounced back this year after starting out so very poorly. And I would look forward to seeing the Dawgs fight like he77 to finish the season on a strong note. You've got a star in the making as a qb and that is the single most important position in the game. itsjustafleshwound
Today, the team grew. Aaron Murray will not forget this game and will rebound. On top of that, very little of our passing game revolved around Green. If our defense improves and Cornelius Washington actually tackled someone (Seriously, 4.3 speed weighing 240 pounds and he doesn't even seem to be a factor), our defense will again contain Florida. On that note, today is nothing to be happy about. We can be happy about the future but not today, not even consolation.I will not look on this as a positive day until it translates into a bowl game and a win. After that, recruiting will have taken shape and the team will have really come into its own identity. sdogg
When we can beat UF 2 years in a row, then can one say we turned corner. Losing to Meyers worse team, isn't turning a corner.

Losing to Meyers worse team, isn't turning a corner. You keep saying we lost to Meyer's worst team, but this will probably be the worst season UGA has had in my lifetime. UGA isn't exactly the #1 team in the country this year. We weren't 4-4 coming into this game because we are a dominant team.I don't think we turned any corner, turnovers are still an issue against Florida. They have a good defense and we made it easy for them on several occasions today. You can't turn the ball over 4 times, give up points off turnovers, and expect to beat the team. But even with our turnovers, we forced the game into overtime. Unfortunately, Aaron Murray uncharacteristically choked by trying to force the ball to AJ Green.I'm not happy at all with this loss, but I do like that our team never quit. In recent years past, we would have mailed it in with it 21-7 at halftime. Really sucks that we lost.

Xnex
Good thing I pretty much don't buy into one of those and that creeks do indeed rise... I'm really hoping that we can manage to beat Arkansas next week and then come to the swamp to play for all the marbles. I look for the SC v. UF game to be pretty entertaining with some big plays on offense and defense. I guess if both teams win next week, our game will be a 3:30 game, huh? Heck it might be the 3:30 game regardless. I'll have to check the schedule to see who else is playing that weekend.EDITNow that I've looked at it there are at least 2 other games that could bump us to a night game. MSU @ Bama and UGA @ Auburn are also on the schedule for that Saturday. Edited October 31, 2010 by Xnex

Yeah, he will have the occasional win, like GT occasionally defeats us. But UGA has no excuse not to be a consistent elite team. The state of Ga produces some of the best college & NFL players in the country. No excuse but poor coaching to not put us on top. Last years team was Richts worst, from a player standpoint. But no matter, Richt cannot defeat Meyers best or worst teams. That is unacceptable. It's time to end the Richt era.

Carter
So this year doesn't seem as bad?It doesn't help man... it just doesn't help. We should have won this game, but we always have turnover issues against UF. I could understand since we're playing a redshirt frosh at QB, but he has been playing lights out for being a RS frosh. When Murray came out and threw that pick right off the bat I was just like here we go again...Really glad to see this team with the mentality that is has though and I do agree, I think it comes from Grantham. I'm really looking forward to seeing this team and his defense continue to get better. As far as this season goes, I just want to see us beat Auburn and Georgia Tech. Beating Auburn would be huge. ChuyDawg
I have to disagree with the title. Bottom line is we lost, everybody needs to calm down with the moral victories. CMR has been a great coach but he's obviously not getting it done, period. I don't think he gets let go this year, mainly due to the payout IMO and the fact that he has excellent relationships with blue chip recruits that can turn a program around quickly. I understand those things, but he will obviously be on the hot seat next year. 3 to 4 loses will get him canned next year. I can see us easily losing that many next year to be honest with you. Bottom line is that it seems the inevitable is only being delayed by one more year, and I hate to say something like that.We fired Jim Donnan, and CMR actually has a worse record over his last 3 seasons. Sounds crazy, I know.
