iDash
Eric Coleman should start at FS over Decoud. Our Bend-N-Break Defense needs more Experience back there.Moore is better than both, so he starts!IMO, Coleman is Better than Decoud, even though I like Decoud too!Whats up with the Blitzing? We are break-in anyway, mind as well Blitz more! Geneaut
Coleman looked awful slow last week when he took over for DeCoud. I'm not sure he's an upgrade.

But if we are going purely off of their play this season, DeCoud has been the worse of the two. I'm sure this is something the coaches are discussing, but DeCoud is younger and under contract past this season so he definately has a leg up in a close race. Decoud should keep the starting spot. Coleman definitely looked kinda slow, and the way TO made him look silly with that stiff arm on the sideline for a TD put the icing on the cake for me. Optimus*Crimes
I say stick with Decoud. He has more "upside" and will benefit from being on the field. Not only is he a better option this year, but i should pay off in the future. Keep Decoud playing...
FalconPio
Decoud is faster plus he has more sting to his hits. Lets not forget what he did last year. Decoud & Moore is a scary combo when they are doing their thing
maxatlanta
There is also the fact that the defense has functioned better as a unit with Coleman getting everyone lined up. It definately is not a fair comparison to single out the last game, after coach came out and said that Coleman suffered due partially to a lack of practice. Geneaut
Coleman & Moore is a more reliable comboI don't see it that way myself. The only advantage Coleman gives us is experience over DeCoud. If DeCoud is healthy I expect him to start.

Spoooooooon4MVP
eric coleman is serviceable, he's more liable to give up a big play than make one.
maxatlanta
This year DeCoud has given up more big plays and been out of position more than anyone on our defense. Even when a CB misses, our defense is designed to keep one of our safeties between the deepest offensive threat and the end zone. This is not knee jerk, it's after 7 games. Coach would be perfectly justified if he benched DeCoud.

I like Coleman, and like a previous poster eluded to earlier this is a good problem to have. Coleman is solid but lacks playmaking ability. Decoud has more speed and playmaking ability just not the experience of Coleman.
atljbo
Decoud hasnt played well but Coleman is no better..... Keep in Decoud and let him learn.... You guys cant just forget how good he was last year.... I'm looking for Decoud to have a way better 2nd half of the season.
Dr_truth189
I think the problem with Decoud thus far is he is looking more like a robot on the field. What I mean by that is he is not going with the flow and is just like looking tense on plays. Last year it was head first dive in to every play. This year he looks like he is like a deer in headlights sometimes. I expect him to be back to form after the Bye week and he can get some tape of himself broken down. Mid-Nite-Toker
Whats up with the Blitzing? We are break-in anyway, mind as well Blitz more!We looked bad blizting on 3rd and long on the Shipley TD. Too much cushion on coverage to blitz so much. RCB's(D-Rob&Owens) bump and run sometimes. Physical cornors need to play to their strengths sometimes. Would help out Abe some to. FalconFanSince1970
I would say this.Coleman is better than DeCoud and Moore on the back end.Moore and DeCoud are better in the box.Coleman has looked slow since the injury in the PIT game but he knows how to play this bend but don't break.Coaches need to coach up the young boys or put Coleman on the back end. We still have Brees, Rogers, Hasselbeck, Flacco, Freeman and God knows who in the playoffs. That's a load. Way better than what we've seen so far. Better fix that back end cause it's been getting lit up by scrubs.

maxatlanta
Agree with what's been posted. Part of the reason DeCoud looked so good last season was because he had Coleman making all the calls and getting everyone, including DeDoud, lined up. I want DeCoud to get experience and figure things out. But when it starts affecting the rest of the players on defense then it becomes too much of a hinderance to be justified. I honestly don't know if we're at that point. But hypothetically, I think we would have been better through the first 7 games with a healthy Coleman/Moore combo starting. Smitty said DeCoud was the defensive MVP last season, I don't think anyone should worry about him getting every shot to be our starter. My guess would be that he has to improve and take care of the back end, another game or two of giving up the big plays and he'll force coach's hand.
