FalconinPA
Living in Pa, it is very rare that you hear people talking about the Falcons or falcons players that much at work. The only one that I have heard people talk about over the past years was Michael Vick the good and bad. However over the past few weeks at least 15 people have came up to me saying man "that Rodddy White is a beast". I actually saw four "white" jerseys at a few Malls this weekend. I had to double take to make sure I was seeing right!!!! The only Falcons jerseys that I ever saw up this way was Vick's during his popular years. (many of them)Today this diehard Cowboy fan came up to me and said Man Roddy White is a monster man. He said he has come this far in just three years in the league. I told him he actually came into the league in 2005, but I agree he is a monster. I forgot occasionally Ryan is mentioned with luke warm reviews around this area. I think a new superstar has been born in Atlanta. A few short years ago, if someone had said that Roddy White was gonna be mentioned with the leagues best I would have laughed. Or that I would see White jerseys up in this area. I guess I can say Roddy is moving on up( the Jefferson's theme song) Hopefully White with the help of Ryan and the other Falcons can build a new image of Atlanta Football, so the we can stop reliving the past meltdowns. obmann
Good story. After 2007 I told a lot of other NFL-fans in message boards.....The Falcons have a Pro-Bowl WR. It is Roddy White. I got laughed out. I said, he is better as Reggie Wayne for sure. It is nice, that Roddy gets the honor, which he has earnes over years now! He is a Pro Bowl receiver since 2007. 1200 yards in this year, with Leftwich, Harrington and Redman as QB....(Redman was the best QB by far...) justcs3
I'm in the camp of us staying under the radar. I hope we continue to "surprise" people. I don't expect to get the respect of others outside of the league in other cities. I hope ESPN stays away from us. But the problem is that the reason people are just now noticing is because ESPN has routinely ignored the Falcon games in coverage. So, people assume incorrectly that if they didn't lead the highlights then there wasn't much to see. That's sad.
obmann
I think, that some experts(what for a name ) recognizing whites play!Yasinskas is praising him. That was a nice read all over the season.Peter King has him on the MVP list behind Brady and Manning....Wow!Finally he gets media respect. But he deserved it. He had seperation written over him over years now. But now he has hands, which are almost perfect. But for me he is running the best crossing route, which I have ever seen in football.Look at the highlights and the first play. Seperation like that on a simply crossing route?

joenate
I knew when he was a rookie that he would be something special and people did indeed laugh at me.
malk
I've always been a skeptic about Roddy White because of his inconsistence. I do admit he has really shown me that he step it up and keep it up so far and if he continues to do this he will (In my opinion) be a top 5 receiver. Now we just need our o-line to give Matty ice consistent time in the pocket and we can have a dangerous passing offense. I still believe we need to find another good receiver to pair up with Roddy white though.
dominatethesouth
I knew when he was a rookie that he would be something special and people did indeed laugh at me. I'm with you on this. I don't really follow college ball to much and when we drafted Roddy I read up on him a little and learned that he led the nation in receiving and was state champion in wrestling. I thought that was really impressive and was excited to see what he was gonna look like on the field. When I saw him play and saw the speed and separation he was getting and I thought he had the potential to be great. There were a couple of games in his second year that made me question myself a little bit, but shortly into his third year I started seeing his game emerging and he became my favorite falcon that year (Kerney was my favorite). He showed he was who I thought he was. I believe he will lead the league in receiving at least once in his career and it might possibly be this year. IonSen88
I knew when he was a rookie that he would be something special and people did indeed laugh at me.Me too. I've always been big on Sharod way back in 2005 and didn't consider him a bust in 2006 like some other people did. Vick couldn't pass and White's growth was stunt because of it. After seeing White put up #1 WR numbers with terrible quarterbacks like Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich and Chris Redman in 2007 I was too convinced. He's been on the climb ever since. M0D3RNW4RR10R
I'm kind of glad Roddy White developed into a an elite receiver. I kind of had high hopes for him, and would dub him as the next Randy Moss to my friends. His first year I was really high on him, and he kind of just fell off the radar. I knew he had that talent in him, it just took him time to mature.
Born Again Georgian
I'm actually starting to get some respect around work being a Falcon fan - it's taking some getting used to. On the other hand the Dallas fans are mighty quiet this season.
msjacob25
i live in pa as well. there are not many people who know who roddy white is. It is ridiculous. If you are a fan of the game then you should at least know the stars of the nfl, especially the pro bowlers. I am a die hard falcons fan and I know every star player on every team in the nfl. lot of ignorant fans up here. I work at a place where there are nearly ten thousand employees and noone ever talks about the falcons, and when they do they always mention vick. Idiots. sorry about the rant. nativefalcon
The kicker about White is his age, why? Hes just entering his prime, and we got him for his best years. After his last game, I was just in awe of him like what he did at the 49ers last year. Like thank GOD hes on our team. He was awsome against the Bengals, it was like Terrell and Chad are fine, but their getting OLD too, compared to White. :P Edited October 27, 2010 by nativefalcon
mastershake
He is the poster boy on what hard work can do and that talent just isn't enough in the NFL if you want to be great. Imagine the numbers he would have if we went deep more often. If you add in his down field blocking, you would have a hard time convincing me that there is someone better. I live in Fl and I've noticed too that the secret is out.

Brewcrew
With the popularity of fantasy football Roddy will continue to get national attention as other teams fan continue to win or lose their fantasy game after White keeps putting up 100+ yards and multiple TDs in a game. Just the way it is.Plus some of his catches have been flat out ridiculous. Sports Center needs to give him a lifetime membership on the Top 10. J-Nice
I knew when he was a rookie that he would be something special and people did indeed laugh at me.Me too. Although he was inconsistent, he always showed the had HUGE talent. He had a few drops and quit on a few plays but he was fast as a rocket and made several acrobatic catches. I remember the coaching staff saying he had all the intangibles he just lacked confidence for some reason... He has plenty confidence now!
