Do we have a false record?

When looking back on our victories, i see that we have not beaten any good teams, in fact we struggled against below average teams. We lost against good teams(Steelers, Eagles)and we struggled with poor teams(bengles, browns, 49ers) and only dominated one team(cardinals). Do we have a false record? Or is our team as elite as our 1st place record suggest?

There are very few patsies anymore in the NFL....

The Falcons are a very good football team.

The end.

I know what you are getting at and I understand your concern.

We lost to the Steelers, even without Roethlisberger, they are extremely hard to beat in Steel town.

We lost to the best defense in the NFL on the road...it happens to the best teams. We lost to Philadelphia. Again, The Linc is a hard place to play. Not to mention, they kinda jumped on us with plays we hadn't seen before. Abraham said they weren't ready for what they did. Honestly, I think Andy Reid out coached us. Again, it happens. We have a 2 year head coach, who I love, but Reid is a really good NFL coach and I think he kinda got one over on us. That said, we never gave up in that game. It was a little bit of a stinker.

We beat the defending Superbowl champs in their house. New Orleans is 4-3. It was a statement game for us and our team out willed their team. Say what you want about the missed FG, that was less fluky then the "off the heel of Thomas DeCoud punt recovery play". We dominated that game and they got the bounce of the ball. The better team won that night.

We beat Cleveland, who has one of the most underrated defenses according to Merle Hodge. They confused Matt Ryan and they confused Drew Brees. It was also a road win. Note that we held them to their lowest point total all year...10 points. That is a quality win anyway you look at it.

We beat a San Francisco team the was on their toes all night. This team put there season on that game. We did it with a little luck on that last play, I will give you that. But, after we got the ball back, we still had to score. So, it still shows resiliency.

We destroyed a bad Arizona team. Nothing really to say.

The game against Cincinnati was perhaps the most impressive. Talk about overcoming adversity. It was like comedy of errors for us in the 3rd quarter. Our coaching staff and I think more particularly, our quarterback didn't let Cincy steal the game. We were the better team.

This is the NFL. Practically every game is within 1 score in the 4th quarter at some point. That's the design.

Does Indianapolis stink because the lost to Jacksonville? Cincy beat Baltimore, who do you think is really better? San Diego beat Arizona, Arizona beat Oakland, Oakland beat San Diego. The NFL is crazy.

Funny Thing about this thread.

Every Time 2 good teams line up, one of them will lose.

Good teams win the games that they are supposed to win, and

we are doing just that.

And I will say this too.

We are in the 3rd year of a total rebuild and 5-2 at the bye week.

IM Still hissing a pizzy fit over the Eagles Game and I aint letting

go until we Kill dey azzes in the playoffs. BY GAWD !

You need to ask your brother what good teams he's talking about. A quick review of teams records shows that only 3 teams have met expectations in every game. So, Is he saying we have to play these teams to be good? Is he saying that we have to do more than just beat a precieved bad team to be good? Is he saying we have to beat a team that people think are good? What teams????

Your brother's only argument should be the Falcons should be winning bigger. As upside down as things are this year you can't really say there is a "Good Team" out there. I'm sure your brother is the type of guy who says his precieved good teams are better than their records. So I ask, How about us?? We could easily have a worse record but on the flip side if Mendenhal doesn't break that run in OT we may have pulled it out. Also, If Philly tried to play us staight up and didn't use any of the misdirection that killed us they would've lost IMO (Philly did what they needed to do to secure a 'W' but make no mistake, they "NEEDED" to do it that way because heads up they lose)

I'll be the 1st to admit we need to get healthy and gel on Offense to see our true potential but your brother is smoking some lala if he thinks that any team would see us as an easy game.

GOOD SO FAR:

Giants

New England

NY Jets

RESPECTABLE:

Baltimore - Loss to Cincy and Almost to Buffalo.

Steelers - Loss to Baltimore and should've lost to Miami

Tenesse - lost to Denver

Indy - Lost to Jacksonville.

Washington - killed by St. Louis

Chicago - should've lost to Detriot, Crushed by NYG, Lost to Seattle.

Green Bay - loss to Miami

No, because every team with a wining record beats bad teams, and every 5-2 team is just 1 or 2 plays away from 4-3 or 3-4. We are what our record says, but there is always a very fine line between success and failure in the NFL.

We beat the browns by 10 on the road and get criticised for it, yet the Ravens only beat them by 7 at home (and also lost to the bengals) and are regarded as elite with no such questions asked.

If you exclude the game against us, the Cardinals have a winning (3-2) record in their other 5 games. The Aints are 4-2 in their other 6 games they have played.

We lost by 14 against Philly and everyone writes us off on the basis of 1 bad result, yet the Giants lost by 24 against Indy and 19 against Tennesse and are now hyped as the NFC's best. How about Philly losing by 18 last week?

The fact is, no one in the NFC is great. All teams have close wins to bad teams and every team has lost. I disagree with saying we struggled against the Bengals. We destroyed them 3 of 4 quarters. I also don't think the Browns are that bad, and wouldn't say we "struggled" there either. It was a little closer than it shouldve been, but I was never worried the whole game.

the browns are not a poor team. ask the saints. heck ask the ravens about how bad the browns are. while your at it, ask the ravens what they thought about the bengals.

We beat weak teams like the Bengals who have no qb, because Carson Palmer has 2 number 1 recievers and can rarely get them the ball and over/underthrows them alot. they suck this season. We beat the 49ers,browns,cardinals, all teams under 500, all teams with no qb.

We beat the Saints who are atrocious this season , but lets not forget theyre a divisonal opponent we see 2wice a season and are already familiar with. And only reason we beat them is because their kicker missed a 29 yd field goal that any other day he wouldve made.

We lost to the Steelers and they played their 3rd string QB that basically loved throwing to our defenders, but they couldnt catch and we lost the game anyway.

So we are a decent team at best. An eye opener for me has been Roddy White. He's been phenominal this season. He's basically stepped his game up every season im impressed
