Brent Grimes is not starting material

Atlanta had a nice bounce-back victory over Cincinnati last week, but it's clear that they still have issues in their secondary. Yes, I'm aware that CB Dunta Robinson didn't play, but I'm also not convinced Brent Grimes should be in the starting lineup on the other side, either.

Ok, this guy obviously doesn't watch the Falcons games. I invite you all who have twitter accounts to go and kill this guy for his ignorance.

Dude tried to tell me to "try talking to people that work in the NFL" Told him the Falcons work in the NFL and they think he's a starting CB. Guy's stupid.

Yeah I responded to that comment with "the same people who have hardly thrown at him all year?" but he's gotten silent on that issue.

I totally agree with article.. I mean, don't get me wrong, Brent Grimes has made TREEEMENDOUS strides over the past two season, Im greatly impressed with his work ethic, that being said our secondary is once again at the bottom, IMO our secondary has been well under avg for the 10 plus years.

We are 25th in defense goin into that game, and tru the bengals were down for most of the game, they threw for 4hundred.. on a solid superbowl type of Defense,Grimes to me might be a solid nickel back .. Might be.. But man i love the way the guy brings it 100 percent every play, every game, seems like a keeper..

Owens on the other hand got abused out there.

One other thing i notice on Sunday, was we did play alot more man 2 man coverage, I saw the DB's playing alot closer to the bengals wr before da ball was snap...... i was loving that.

Either you aren't watching the games like Caplan, or you just aren't paying very good attention.

man what is you smoking BG20 was guarding TO i don't care how old he gets his still one of the best receivers in the game if not the best and BG20 had him on lock knocking balls away making tackles and just keeping him out of the play the dude is 5'10 and plays harder then anyone in the league trust me if BG20 wasn't starting material he wouldn't be starting. he has worked hard an earned his spot he wasn't starting last year so the coaching staff had to see the improvement

Our defensive rank doesn't fall solely on any cornerback. It's scheme, linebackers, safeties, everytime goes in to that. You put Brent Grimes on most receivers in this league and he's going to do a solid job all day long. He'll give up some plays, everyone does. The rules are designed for that to happen. Brent goes against the best WR in football every day in practice. For the last 2 seasons, Robinson went against the best WR in football. ...now Robinson does it here :)

It's not just the players.

I totally agree with article..

our secondary is once again at the bottom,

This is exactly the kind of flawed logic that leads to statement's like Caplan's: The team gave up 400 yards passing, ergo Brent Grimes must not be a starting quality CB.

How many of those yards came against him? How many TDs has he given up? How many passes has he defended? How many times have opposing QBs simply looked the other way?

Caplan's smug answers speaks volumes. "Talk to people in the NFL" as if any of us could. It also shows that he is going on stuff he hears, not on what he sees. If he was watching and had talked to the teams we've played, he might have asked why they've almost completely avoided Grimes side of the field.

Apparently he's been silent since that exact point was raised to him. ;)

I KNOW he is starting material on THIS team. He should be the least of anyone's concerns right now. We probably have 7-8 starters that wouldn't start on the majority of teams out there. Most teams in year 3 of a rebuild do. IMO, 3 of our 5 starting O-linemen fit that statement. You want to point fingers, watch the games.

Heres what I say. I hope this guy gets in Drew Brees head that GrimeTime is not starting material and should not even be out there. GrimeTime is here and I can see a pick 6 coming.

I am sure dude has me blocked on Twitter so I just went through Fox Sports and e-mailed him directly.

Remember 6 weeks ago....when you were saying that Brent Grimes isn't a starter in this league. I told you that you obviously don't watch Falcons games and you told me, "I get it, your a fan." Good times. Brent Grimes is going to be voted to the Pro Bowl and probably win NFC Defensive Player of the Month, but I won't be looking for any admission that you were wrong. You don't seem like the kind of guy to man up like that. Have a nice day.
