DavyDmx
I don't disagree with Trent entirely after Carson roasted our secondary in the second half. We have issues like any other team but, that is to be expected with a relatively young roster of players. I believe we can win a Super Bowl if Ryan can continue to play aggressively (but Smart) football and our defense continues to learn how to take over games. MagnusXXIII
the defense with Spoon and Dunta is totally different than without them. without those two we are just as bad as last yearWilliam Moore is getting valuable playing time and is showing flashes of what we drafted him for.Corey Peters is contributing at a high level.Jerry should get better as he gets healthier.Vance Walker had a break out game against the Bengals.Abe is back on track for double digit sacks.Nic and Coleman provide startable depth.Grimes seems to get better with every game.So there is more to look forward to than just Dunta and Spoon ... Izo#2883
our defense was top ten with dunta and spoon when they return the defense will return to top 10 watch.I agree with you, but the video was posted yesterday. Trent Dilfer was probably answering the question based on what he saw the last 2 games and the problem is that without those 2, our defense is in bad shape.Thats why I think our defense (and team as whole) will probably benefit from one more draft/season. Izo#2883
So there is more to look forward to than just Dunta and Spoon ...The key here being time and future. I dont think that our defense have played to its potential yet, far from it. Reason be are the exact reasons you give in your post. But losing those 2 hurts us in the present. Finally
I agree another good draft would really help but all we really need is for the team to get hot at the right time...If we manage to get homefield and the defense and offense manage to turn it up a notch...who knows how far we could go?However we still need to get there first. I agree completely. This year is Falcons friendly. If we can get healthy and get all phases playing at a high level instead of one at a time we could end up in Dallas this year. The best news is we haven't played our best game yet and we are 5-2 and we have a well-timed bye this year.I think we need another draft to get a little more injury proof and deal with the changing of the guard at a few positions. I, also, feel like we are still settling in some areas because there is only so much you can do in any one off-season.
Finally
i missed the part of your post that earned you a -1. it must have been reality. this place is amazing lolI am sure the OP didn't like it. It doesn't bother me. I think we can win against anyone but until we become the team that makes more teams than not bend to us instead of us adjusting to them we are not done yet. Now, who knows, if MM can keep his foot on the gas and we get healthy again on defense maybe we are closer to being that team than we think. I absolutely love that we won a shoot-out because for me that was an important question to have answered. I was concerned that our style of slow march offense was going to hurt us because we'd be doing good to get 4 TDs in a game and that is not always enough. Dale4Saul2Red0
Dilfer has to stick to his guns after he went onto The Herd with Colin Cowherd and basically shafted Atlanta, and Colin basically called him an idiot.Dilfer is that kind of stubborn prick who won't really admit he was wrong so he'll stick to his guns here and give that whole yea yea yea they are a good team blah blah blah, but 1 year away. He would say the same thing if we reel off like 6 straight wins or something. Not saying anything he is saying is 100% right or 100% wrong, but it's just Dilfer being Dilfer. He is still on the Saints ****.I wouldn't say our defense isn't physical enough though, if anything the defense is still vastly young and that will be the undoing of our football team if we can't make it to the Super Bowl. Physicality and aggressiveness though I am not worried about. It's the consistency of our younger guys on defense I'm worried about. Getting Spoon and Dunta back healthy is going to be extremely important. Edited October 26, 2010 by Dale4Saul2Red0
Getitdone
Run defense is #8 which isnt bad, but our passing defense like always is #28 after the bengals game. We need to tighten it up. Palmer threw for 412 yrds 3TDs no INT that needs to not happen if we plan on going deep in the playoffs or even making it to them.
lookout
I find it interesting that everyone mentions our defense, saying it's not good enough etc, then they go on to praise the giants..who let dallas score 35 points on them...15 of those with kitna for god's sake. In fact, they go on to praise the giant defense saying it's great. It's absolutely insane that 32 points from the bengals equals bad defense while 35 points from the cowboys is great defense. It's truly Unbelievable how biased the media is. Between this and the NONSTOP romo coverage and dissecting every single storyline in dallas, which is a 1-5 team..right there with the other terrible teams of the panthers, 49ers, and bills. Oddly enough the media barely mentions them...although the 49ers get a little attention only because of singletary. It's disgraceful imho and clearly disrespectful to all the other teams. It's just sick how much focus they put on certain teams. Yes I and everyone should be used to it but it gets to a point that I honestly can't even turn on espn or the nfl network without busting a blood vessel. There has never been a team in NFL history whose offense was as dominated as thoroughly as Dallas's last night that still scored 35 points. Completely fluky turnover based points, special teams points, and garabage time points. The Cowboys only had 254 yards and were 0-10 on 3rd downs. The Giants have the best defense in the NFC, and I don't think there is a close second. The only reason they have given up so many points is the 21 turnovers they have committed.
bigatlfan2
Does anyone other than me see it coming?
