birds_till_death
For starters, let me clarify i am still not a fan of Mike Mularkey. i still do not like his play calling or his overall management of our offense and/or his gameplanning in general. That being said, i have and will admit to being one of the ones jumping off the deep end last week and bashing MM endlessly(although i favored firing him AFTER the season, not during).I still think he has to show more games like this on a consistent basis for me to say i like him, but I WILL HAPPILY eat my crow and say he showed me impressive creativity and play calling this week.I honestly hope i can post an "i'm eating my crow" thread every week from here on out. schwarzenegger321
I have said in understand and agree with ball control and power running but I've thought that mularky has been slow to adapt and make changes to challenge defenses and attack.Well, today he prove me wrong. He attacked the defense and made changes that I didnt see coming.
nativefalcon
Shoot, I have been calling for MMs head for awhile. Today was actually good, impressed me actually. I thought he got stuck in the bathroom and musgrave took it over. :P But I will say Mularkey did good. Just keep them guessing every week. -Falcon4Ever-
I believe that it is due to Ryan calling more of the plays, but I could be wrong
supremedarius
I believe that it is due to Ryan calling more of the plays, but I could be wrongI think THAT was the major change that you seen. Ryan was calling more plays in the huddle.. Something changed that we may never hear about but I think this could start to be a sign that Ryan is calling more plays
FlyHighFalcons
I haven't been for firing Mularky yet because of the way the team has been winning games. This is mainly because his play calling is the type that will almost always keep you in games until the fourth, but you need an elite defense to consistantly play this type of offense. If you play the type of offense that takes a lot of chances then it could backfire in you not being in the game late, but I think today he has a perfect mix of taking chances and simple plays that would've guarenteed us still being in the game at all points. raysnill1
I have said in understand and agree with ball control and power running but I've thought that mularky has been slow to adapt and make changes to challenge defenses and attack.that's been my gripe the whole time. he hasn't been making the game time adjustments we needed to make to give us the advantage we needed. every game we've played, defenses has given us looks that if Mularkey would have adjusted to we would have been putting up 30 + points a game. paulitik
I think the play calling was about as good as it gets on the offensive side. It helped that Matt had time to throw with decent pass protection. Throwing deep definitely helps the run game.
Norwood all the way!
ive also been very critical of MM. today was a blast of happiness to see the offense actually moving the ball effectively and scoring TDs. ill give MM his props for this weeks performance but im not totally sold that it was his play calling that got us moving the ball. sounds like Ryan had a lot to do with playcalling but ill give MM the benefit of the doubt for now. now if he can only keep it going consistently and not revert back to his knucklehead playcalling
cyofish
Today had a lot to do with Cincy's defense. They weren't playing nowhere close to they way SF and Philly played us on defense. They were playing very loose in the secondary and the middle of the field was open on a lot of plays. We ran a lot more crossing and go routes than in prior game. Part of the reason may be the protection Matt Ryan had in the pocket.
falken
Judge Mularkey by his 25-14 mark as the Falcons' OC. I know we all love this team but road wins are tough to come by in the NFL.We lead the South and the entire NFC. Going back to last year we have won 8 of 10 and and 6 of those were road games.I think the bye week comes at a perfect time. Let's get healthy and keep the ball rolling. Osiruz
Not a fan or sold on mularky here.I still thinks that he is too conservative with his play calling, alot of the adjustments had to do with matt ryan and our no huddle. He has to show me consistently that he can make the play calls necessary for us to succeed (like taking alot more chances downfield, or the fact that ryan has yet to have 300 yrd game).Sorry i'm looking at the overall picture, i'm not sold on the guy.
