dsgbncali
The Broncos have given up 52 so far to the friggin' Raiders and Baltimore as good as their D is allowed 34 to the winless Bills. We need improvement, yes but even good defenses have bad games.I don't think it as bad as old boy is trying to make it out to be I think the bigger problem is the lack of a pass rush. We have yet to generate any consistent pass rush. Who do we place this blame on.
rowdyfalcon
At some point during this season, probably when the Falcons SHATTER the NFL record for most passing yards EVER allowed, TD and Smitty will be forced to admit they have a pathetic, toohless, anemic pass defense. Perhaps when Junior Jimmy Clausen of the Panties passes for 400 yards the truth will no longer be ignored. It's beyond embarrassing to the rest of the team and franchise. Not only is it pathetic today..............it gets worse weekly.Smitty...............where's your defensive pride ???Agreed. I think we are 30 or 31 against the pass. Grant it the philly and cincy games we didn't have spoon, d-rob, decoud. Hopefully we get all these guys healthy over the bye, because we are gonna need to at least get to the middle of the pack against the pass to do some damage in da playoffs.I think we need to get creative with our blitzes when we are playing pass heavy teams and the front four alone arnet getting it done, thatll help this secondary out a lot, especially against the big plays. I say blitz and jam em when ever teams start passing at will!Over all the D is much improved from last year. Peria is gettin doubled but still making noise. Kroy never quits and is getting pressure. Abe is having another solid year. Babs too. I expect us to come off the bye healthy and clickin on all cylinders on O and playing fast, tackling solid D.Go Falcons!!!! BADTOLZ
not two weeks in a row... and theres a difference between good defenses, and great defenses, baltimore isnt great anymore.... steelers?? thats the epitomy of a great defense.... -_-According to ESPN.COM SO FAR THIS SEASON...I believe it includes this week.ATL PASSING YDS ALLOWED/GAME: 260PITT: 236ATL RUSHING YDS ALLOWED/GAME: 96PITT: 64ATL PTS ALLOWED PER GAME: 19PITT: 14ATL INT'S: 11PITT: 8ATL SACKS: 15PITT: 18ATL'S GIVE/TAKE RATIO: 5PITT: DUNNO LIST STOPPED AT -7Also Pitt has played 1 fewer game this season, so unless they have a severe lapse in passing or Rushing D, it could change those numbers by a bit...also down 3 int's and up 3 sacks with one less game.Sure Pitt's D is playing balls out, but if they are the "epitomy of a great defense" then I'd say we're not far enough away to warrant this post. IMO. Contrary to popular/not very popular belief, Atlanta actually has one of the better defenses when compared to the league. Sure we lack in some areas but overall we're right up there with the best of em.ATL'S RECORD: 5-2PITT: 5-
BADTOLZ
passing Yds per game Pitt's 24th....we're 30th.Total pitt's 16...we're 30. Edited October 26, 2010 by blinky
bigatlfan2
Whats sad is that dousche D Hall had 4 INT's today...ugh that irritates me to no end. That's not so much because of him as it is because of that P.O.S. Cutler! Granted, he had to catch the balls, but Cutler is throwing int's left and right this year!!!
bigatlfan2
I think we really miss Dunta and Spoon. When Owens is in there, we revert to the same old secondary we've had for the last few years. You know the one, the one where our CB's are outmatched by the elite receivers in the league. With Dunta on one side and Brent on the other side we are MUCH better! Couple that with having Spoon out and we have a weak spot. With them in there, it gives the defensive line more time to press the QB because the receivers are not as open. I bet you anything we will be a better defense with those guys back in there and with our offense clicking more and more, we are going to be a force to be reckoned with!!!RISE UP FALCONS!!! Faithful Falcon
u mean the same FS that gave up a 8 0 yard TD last week? who was also responsible with the rest of that group???? dnt even try to make it like decoud was the reason for that... robinson is one thing cause we havent been abused like that with him in t here yet, but im not even going to let u go that far with decoud...... this season everyone wantedto kno if he could go to pro bowl level, well the one thing he had to work on was his coverage skills....Oh, you are talking about the TD that Christopher Owens gave up. You saw DeCoud chasing after the receiver. Typical mistake by someone that knows nothing about football.

We are a different team with those two guys on te field. Besides that Palmer had 50 attempts. Teams are going to more than likely going to rack up passing yards when they have 50 attempts. Especially with the weapons they have.
Osiruz
on that shipley TD we revealed the blitz way too early and sent too many guys, palmer saw that one coming from a mile away.

Typical mistake by someone that knows nothing about football.IT DOESNT MATTER IF CHRIS WENT FOR IT OR FELL DOWN AND LET HIM GO... ITS DECOUD JOB TO PICK UP any WR THATS TRYING TO GET OVER THE TOP OF THE DEFENSE... thats the S job, ''last line of defense'' i guess theres no point in explaining that to someone who dnt understand that much.... smitty said it himself '' we were in a coverage that you cant let anything get over the top'' and it did so who do u think there going to chew out for that???? madman88
At least someone understands the game of football....Palmer had 50 pass attempts...50!!!! Without Dunta we were short on CB's which means they are going to tire more easily, when DeCoud went down we were short on safeties since Coleman took his spot. Its not like he only threw the ball 20 times and we gave up a bunch of yards, once they started slinging the ball around we gave up yards, every team is going to do that.didnt matt have 50 attempts or close to it last week, and only threw for like 250 yards???? hmmm.... there goees that fact... just because u throw 50 times doesnt mean ur gonna get yardage out of it..... u can throw 50 times and get 50 incompletions.... The Red Stallions
didnt matt have 50 attempts or close to it last week, and only threw for like 250 yards???? hmmm.... there goees that fact... just because u throw 50 times doesnt mean ur gonna get yardage out of it..... u can throw 50 times and get 50 incompletions....Werent we playing from way far behind in that game? Obviously we arent going to be running the ball that much and the Eagles knew that...they werent going to be playing a prevent defense in the first quarter (seeing as how we were down big by then.) Yea we were up big at the end of the half but they came back, and they didnt have to throw every single down so they werent predictable. When they were doing their last 2 drives we were in prevent to not give up the big plays (which happened on the Shipley TD)When you have 50 pass attempts the DB's on the other team are going to tire...you can run the ball 49 times and the defense will tire so that when you run that 50th time the possibilty for a big gain goes up...its not rocket science...
