clockwork
You know our #1 CB and starting FS were out most of the day and we were facing TO and Ocho, and a rookie named Jordan Shipley who was their leading receiver today ?There....fixed it for you to reflect reality... Bring It
Falcons pass D - Robinson - Weatherspoon - DeCoud = bad pass dFalcons pass D + Robinson + Weatherspoon + DeCoud = problem fixedThe bye week couldn't come soon enough! Let's get all our guys healthy and I really think we can be dominant. If our offense can start this fast consistently, and our defense is healthy, we can beat anybody!Yes !!!Come on Bye Week..............healin' time. madman88
we have givin up nearly 1000 yards in two weeks!!! yea we won.... but thats not going to get it done in the long run....
Atl/0
Missing Dunta and Spoon showed today. Even though I knew they would have success in the passing game today I didn't think they would get worked as bad as they did.
ghoticov
Why can't someone voice a concern, an area of improvement, a glaring need, or something similar about our team's weaknesses - - win or lose? I never understand this, "Oh, well, we won. It's a win! Be happy for that." That ish is so lame and tired. I am glad the coaching staff does not think like that. If they did, we'd be in deep ish.Because it is pretty obvious why our secondary struggled. We were missing our #1 CB, our starting OLB (a very good one at that) and our starting S. I Even Bleed Red
And if that championship comes to us please get off the bandwagon and go to the saintsI'm not a bandwagon fan. I have been a Falcons fan all of my life. I don't need to prove anything to you. I am allowed to criticize my team in areas that I think it needs improvement. Osiruz
I think BVG has his corners playing too far off the line and I dont like the way our safeties cover..namely the FS, decoud gets caught out of place too much. That and it would help if we can disguise our blitzes, and we need the front four to get back to what they were doing the first 3 games. falcons faithful
not two weeks in a row... and theres a difference between good defenses, and great defenses, baltimore isnt great anymore.... steelers?? thats the epitomy of a great defense.... -_-YO I hear the Steelers are also looking for new members BYE BYE. We won bottom line I don't care if we give up 500 years per game passing and we win everyone. What a jerk.

kschreck
Anytime a QB has that many attempts their team is going to have a lot of passing yards. It's not like Palmer doesn't have any weapons.
maxatlanta
I think BVG has his corners playing too far off the line and I dont like the way our safeties cover..namely the FS, decoud gets caught out of place too much. This^^^Everyone putting the blame for our pitiful pass defense on missing Dunta, Spoon, & DeCoud is mistaken. Yes, we are better with them in there (at least with Dunta and Spoon), but we've looked real shaky when they were healthy too. Remember the Saints last season? Playing with a lead is supposed to be an advantage for the defense!!! We came out in the 2nd half and pretty much did everything we could to help Palmer and those WR regain their confidence. It was a textbook case of how to blow a huge lead. The OP is right, the soft coverage is an issue. It's not that there's no place for it. But some QBs fold under pressure and you gotta bring the heat to take advantage of that. Also, if you are going to blitz, then it defeats the purpose if you are giving all the receivers a big cushion. With the cushion, the QB always has somewhere to go with the ball and can just get rid of it quickly. Considering the QBs we've faced, it is kind of sad that our opponents QB rating is higher than Ryan's. I subscribe to the theory that the other team will rack up pass yards if they are behind. But we only blew out one team this year.
freebird310
Thing is we are way way too pedictable on D, and horrible at disguising blitzes and coverages ......every team knows exactly what we are going to do all of the time ........
The Red Stallions
Anytime a QB has that many attempts their team is going to have a lot of passing yards. It's not like Palmer doesn't have any weapons. At least someone understands the game of football....Palmer had 50 pass attempts...50!!!! Without Dunta we were short on CB's which means they are going to tire more easily, when DeCoud went down we were short on safeties since Coleman took his spot. Its not like he only threw the ball 20 times and we gave up a bunch of yards, once they started slinging the ball around we gave up yards, every team is going to do that. Theyhateme : )
At some point during this season, probably when the Falcons SHATTER the NFL record for most passing yards EVER allowed, TD and Smitty will be forced to admit they have a pathetic, toohless, anemic pass defense. Perhaps when Junior Jimmy Clausen of the Panties passes for 400 yards the truth will no longer be ignored. It's beyond embarrassing to the rest of the team and franchise. Not only is it pathetic today..............it gets worse weekly.Smitty...............where's your defensive pride ???While I understand your frustration, empty yards mean nothing...Clausen can throw for 600 yards....as long as our offense scores more than their defense can handle and at 0:00 we are ahead...I could care less...LOL! MR2
some of those long passes, especially the shipley one was on the blitz. Palmer may be having a down year but he's still pretty good. They get paid to make plays too.
Mid-Nite-Toker
Personally I think Dunta and Owens need to play bump & run at the RCB. They both our aggressive and have decent strength. #85 killed Ownes because he was playing too far off the line of scrimmage. He is a physical player so let him and Dunta do that. Likewise, it would help Abe get more pressure on the right because the opponents receivers won't get so much cushion. Let Grimes play-off because of his size and the fact he closes better than Dunta or Owens. My 2 cents.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it was like 3rd and 12. That was like stealing for Palmer.
kenk
I hope we can pick up a pass rusher to help Abe and Biermann before the trade deadline
