NewtonLaws
DRob23 made a great play on defense and should not be fined, which many of you do agree with me on. Rich McKay is the Co-Chairman of the NFL Competition Committee and was on NFL Network to discuss Helmet-to-Helmet hits. He basically talks about the Heap Hit, the Browns receiver, and Jackson hit. He brakes down on the rules and IMO are bulls***!!! I watch the video several times and this is what I saw.Jackson comes across the middle; he comes off his feet to catch the ball; the ball is in his hands; he takes one step and sees DRob23 at the last min... DRob23 lays a HUGE hit on Jackson! Hits him in his CHEST first!!! His shoulder makes contact to Jackson head because Jackson head goes forward into DRob23 pads! From what I get, McKay explanation is that a receiver is defenseless even after the ball hit his hands. Its illegal for a defensive player to lunge there body at a receiver that hasn't completed the act of a catch... WTF o_O really???I understand protecting players, but this is ridiculous!!! **** McKay, **** Competition Committee, and **** the people that agree with McKay. GO WATCH COMPETITION BOWLING!!!Sorry I had to vent, lol
dmite
I heard this earlier and he's siding with the NFL. I think he pretty much has to when speaking publicly.

paulitik
I saw that earlier. He's trying to look objective and throwing his own player under the bus. Towing the company line because he wants to be the next commish.

Same Ol Falcons
This is what I was trying to say all day on Sunday, the 2010 version of the defenseless receiver says a receiver in the act of catching a ball is a defenseless receiver

And McKay didnt say anything wrong he is correctHe has a concussion because:1 - His head went into Jackson's shoulder2 - Him and Jackson collided at full speed to a full stop - his brain is gonna move and compact and that is more than likely the main cause of the concussion
aPureTerror
I was excited to see that he would be on the show because I thought he would clear some things up. Instead he sort of baffled me even more. He made it sound like you have to wait until you can clearly tell that a player has made a catch before you can hit him in a certain way.
aPureTerror
It actually sounded pretty silly and stupid to hear him say that. What he said is impossible for a defensive player to do. Basically just make sure the player has secured the ball and he's able to defend himself before you hit him. That's all, just be patient D Rob! It's the QB's job to not get one of his teammates set up for a huge hit.
BenB321
McKay is an absolute joke. He was a total disaster as GM for the Falcons, according to Gazoo he was a "failed GM. Now he is completely screwing up the most popular sport in America. He is responsible as Co-Chairman of the NFL Competition Committee for instituting a rule essentially saying that defenders have to let wide recievers catch the ball and secure it and be able to defend themselves before they can even touch them. Basically this rule lets wide receivers receive a fair catch without waving their hand as PR's do.He was unclear in defending this rule because it is indefensible and turns the NFL into a flag football outfit. This is the same man that advocated extending the NFL schedule because he said the fans demanded it instead of the real reasons of greed and avarice. It is clear that Arthur Blank should fire McKay and fine him 50k for incompetence then give the money to Dunta to pay his fine. I would explain the hit but certainly you've had enough time by now to realize how wrong your statement is, so you obviously don't care to. And McKay didnt say anything wrong he is correctconcussions occur when your brain hits your skull at sudden moments of change in direction. you can suffer a concussion in a car accident without your head hitting anything. dunta clearly lead with the shoulder and the above is the reason they suffered concussions, not a head to head "spearing" as you like to think it is. BenB321
The fans demanded it? Did he seriously say that? The owners sure, but the fans?Yeah, he did if you can believe it. It was on one of the preseason games when they let McKay run his trap up in the TV announcers booth. He kept saying that it was in response to the fans that they wanted to enlarge the regular NFL season. I could not believe the hypocrisy and arrogance of McKay to come out to say a bold face lie like that. He has zero credibility with me on anything. I am just glad that Blank stripped him of any decision making ability over the players and coaches but now he is screwing up the NFL rules and destroying the game so hard hits will be a thing of the past. What a moron.

And McKay didnt say anything wrong he is correctThe helmets hit as a result of the initial contact. Also if you watch the replay Jackson made the catch and had already tucked the ball in his left arm (tucking the ball sure seems like a football move to me). This is where is gets very tricky. He caught the ball, tucked it and was taking his second step when the contact occurred. The only thing is that it happened so fast its hard to tell the exact timing of the hit and Jacksons second step. It was so close that you can't tell in slow motion replay. Now I understand why James harrison said he was going to retire. They are putting too many rules in the game. After while.... the Defense is not going to be able to hit anybody. It's a complete offense of league now. The players on defense can't do chit anymore. I guess you have to run the player down and wrestle him to ground like a calf at a rodeo. They're making the players play way to safe which is turning football into a ***** foot league.
