chazbykr
I think I'm about done! The NFL is becoming and WANTING to become a touch football league. I will mostly be watching college ball now. Much more real football without all the prima donna stars being protected and flaunted. Big money has ruined pro ball.

IronHead34
First, I do not want to see Robinson suspended.But...I do wish there was more of a press on the fundamentals of tackling. I remember playing football in 8th grade. This is about the level where you stop running around in the middle of the field as a giant huddle and start playing actual football, with a gameplan and everything. As a LB, we spent most of the preseason working on tackling. We learned how to wrap a guy up, avoid arm tackles, and watching the QB's eyes so we could flock to the ball, etc. It appears many in the NFL have forgotten their technique in favor of the big hit. I do understand "bang, bang" plays happen, and I feel it is unfair to punish those. Especially in the secondary. When you have a dude who is 6'2" and super athletic chasing down another dude of equal size or strength, accidents happen. However, I think the league should focus on proper form tackling again. In once sense, it would help limit big plays because less guys would miss tackles or bounce off defenders. Sorry. That was a long response. I rest my case. IronHead34
OH, and PS.John Abraham has a great tackling technique EVERY TIME he sacks a QB (think about it, when is the last time you saw the predator "light up" a QB and then gloat about it?). The reason for this is, he wants to make sure he gets his man and does not flush him out and let him get 10 extra yards on the play.
grimjacx
The game and players have changed in all aspects from when I started watching, over 30 years ago. The players are bigger, faster, stronger and train all year, the schemes are more complicated, and yeah the players are stars and celebrities. The equipment is different- protects the hitter more than ever- do you think guys in leather helmets lead with their heads? They have to do something or these guys are going to continue to be brain damaged or worse. I dont want to watch guys get carted off the field every week. I even told my wife how surprised I was at the amount of injuries during the Falcon's / Eagles game. This comes from people wanting a punishing defense like the Steelers or Ravens. And I like that kind of D. I like that Atlanta is going that rout, but I think the problem may be some of the equipment (better helmets, mouthgaurds, etc would be nice) and part is just the want and wish to be on a highlight video. foreverfalcon
It's a "collision" sport. Two players (or more) are apt to collide multiple times during the game. When the NFL tries to mitigate the injuries they have to implement SOLUTIONS. If the solutions are affecting your ability to identify with the game, stick to wrestling or MMA/UFC or whatever it is that satisfies your blood lust.
