crankdatfalcon
Retired safety Rodney Harrison, now an analyst for NBC, was fined more than $200,000 during his career and was suspended for one game in 2002 for a helmet-to-helmet hit."You didn't get my attention when you fined me 5 grand, 10 grand, 15 grand," he said during the "Sunday Night Football" broadcast. "You got my attention when I got suspended and I had to get away from my teammates and I disappointed my teammates from not being there. But you have to suspend these guys. These guys are making millions of dollars."One of the most dirtiest safety's that played the game now wants to comment on dirty hits. What type of s### is that???It would be so freaked up if d-rob gets suspended or even fined for a clean, legit hit..James harrison's hit was dirty, that deserves a suspension. Peyton
Honestly, it didn't make me mad. It made me laugh hysterically.Trent Green, I've been told, did not find his comments funny.

He was asked if fines discouraged him from hitting the way he did. He didn't suggest that D-Rob be suspended.

jonnyblooz
Yeah, his commentary made me snicker as well. The more I listen to these retired players acting so informed now makes it harder and harder to listen to any sports commentary anymore. And he even says it in the quote "You have to suspend these guys".I took that as reference to Merriwether(sp) and Harrison. They were both headhunting, and had obvious, intended helmet to helmet contact. h3ll, harrison had 2. They stated that D-Rob lead with the shoulder. Either way, his comments didn't bother me one bit. He was dirty, he knows it, and he didn't care. His hard hits made people think twice about running into him...
HASHBROWN3
who cares what he said. he's a hasbeen. If the nfl suspends dunta for a clean, hard hit, then the nfl has major issues. If this game becomes political, it will hurt them bigtime. Play that dam tape 100 times and 100 times dunta's hit was not a dirty spear. Its football not pussyball. Unreal!!! He didn't suggest that D-Rob be suspended. No, but the NFL is considering possibly handing down suspensions for those type hits now. I don't believe they can arbitrarily just start that this week, but look for something to done in the next week or two. The NFL will put out the word to teams and players, then starting around week 8, expect suspensions for those type hits.D-Rob will just be fined. I still think his was accidental, he went for the chest/shoulder. James Harrison (2 times in 1 game) and Brandon Meriweather both had intentional head shots, but not much is being said about them because they didn't take out a "superstar" & NFL money-maker quality player.Personally, I think a player should be fined the 1st time they do it in a season, the 2nd time, ejection from the game and suspended until 1 week AFTER the player hit can return. If you end someone's career, your gone for the season at least. That's JMO.
AtlFan1971
I want someone in the NFL demonstrate how to hit an opposing team's WR when they have caught the ball and are about to convert a big 3rd down conversion. DRob's shoulder pad and helmet hit Jackson at the same time and it was not the vicious helmet to helmet that these players are being fined for. It was simply a hard hit which did its job - forced Jackson to drop the ball. I wish both DRob and Jackson would have been able to continue playing, but this is the NFL not the NPL (National Pu55y League)!
Terber
I wonder if these guys are even dissecting the play, or just toeing the party line if you will. I mean there is nothing I hate more than to see former players like Harrison start legislating suspensions for physical play. Are you kidding me? NavyRetFalcon
NFL is getting out of control. D-Rob should not be fined, he led with his shoulder. The injuries to both of them were not intentional. If it were intentional then by all means fine or suspend any player committing the crime. My point is, if the NFL wanted to really protect the careers of it's players then why are they not playing on grass instead of turf. Weatherspoon this year, PJ, Ryan, Turner last year and a slew of other players around the league have had ankle and knees injuries cause their feet grip to the rubber and torque the joints. But we all know that the stadiums are not built for us, they are built for the fat cats in the luxury boxes who want to be inside. You don't have to agree with me, but just look around the NFL. Look at the stadium that JJ built in Dallas.

FalconFanSince1970
I'm just glad I got to see some real NFL football before they watered this thing down. There will be generations that won't get the same experience. This game will be pssyfied before the end of the decade. Trust me.Good hit Dunta. I appreciate it and hope you and Desean can get back soon. Nice NFL football play.FFS1970

He didn't suggest that D-Rob be suspended.True, but I think what he's saying is that Rodney considered it a dirty hit by saying the league needs to suspend players for these types of hits. Sounded to me like he was saying that Dunta made a dirty play even though Deion and Moose Johnson think otherwise. Why were Harrison and Dungy not asked if they thought the hit was clean?? I guess we'll find out later this week if the league thinks so
MR2
Rodney Harrison is example number 51,694,439,922 why ex-players aren't always the best analysts.

I just remember some very hard hits back in the 80's (#42 comes to mind as well) that ended careers with these type hits.Course we didn't have the "internet" back then, so we didn't get to hear or talk about these issues.
