ATLfanatic
This board never fails at being so predictable after a win or loss: "We're elite, we're going to the Super Bowl"......"Fire Mularky, we're overrated, Matt Ryan yadda yadda yadda. The truth is:1. The toughest part of our schedule is behind us; 4 of next 5 at home, all winnable including the away game @ St. Louis (yes we are better than them). Baltimore is the only forseeable loss (even if so, that'll leave us at 8-3 but 9-2 is very possible and good position)2. Speaking of position, we are still the #2 seed in the NFC (due to Giants 3-0 conference record to our 3-1, but with a brutal finish of games, including 2 stretches of 3 of 4 on the road) Chicago's loss was worse than ours due to the fact it was at home and Cutler will not last the season in that Martz offense (6 more sacks yesterday after coming off a concussion). Green Bay is injury-riddled with no running game and spiralling downward. You don't fear anyone in the NFC West. Even though Philly beat us, they still have 5 division games left, which are much more tougher than our 5 remaining division games, plus they got Indy, Minny, Tennessee, and Houston on their schedule to go along with that.3. Mike Smith is coaching our team. If this was Jim Mora, I would be worried because his teams start off great too but fade in the second half of the season. I don't see that in this regime, plus we're still a young team and will get better as the season progresses. So guys, if we can just be a bit more even-keeled not to get so high after a win or panicky after a loss (after all, that's what Bill Belichick teams do, Mike Tomlin teams, Dungy teams, and I'm pretty sure Mike Smith teams do in the NFL) They will address the issues (they have been since the TD-Mike Smith combination has arrived here), and we can still realistically go 12-4 or 13-3 and wrap up home field advantage throughout the playoffs this season (the MNF Saints game will be key because they are coming). If we were in the AFC, however, I would be a bit more worried, but we're not so there :P Edited October 18, 2010 by ATLfanatic

Statick
Personally, as of 4pm, my 24-hr Rule kicks in and I'm onto worrying about the next game.Like Coach says, the NFL season is a marathon, not a sprint. We can't let one atrocious game get us down.
ATLfanatic
The fans on this board are 1000 times more predictable than a Mike Mularky offense.+1, completely concur and that's saying something because the offense is predictable. I would like to see the offense open up more, but we have the skill players to outmatch a vast majority of teams we play against. Other than Baltimore, there is no defense remaining on our schedule that can stop us unless we stop ourselves. The Mularky offense is a bit conservative, but one thing is doesn't do is take you out of the game. Ask Dallas how their offensive playstyle is working: top 3 in D and O is great, but when you turnover the football and commit penalties (which we control both pretty well), you're not gonna win alot games, no matter how talented you are
crankdatfalcon
theres a difference in loosing, and getting blown out, not even bothering to show up, getting outcoached, outplayed, out everything. Its impossible to relax after that bad outing by this team.
Sun Tzu 7
The season isn't over... but we have issues. And my main concern is the offensive line because it's been an issue the last 3 games.I won't go into getting completely outcoached and outschemed. Its impossible to relax after that bad outing by this team. It's okay to be critical after a win, heck even after a loss, but when you stoop down saying SEC teams can beat us, the Wyoming Cowboys can beat (in a response to a now 1-4 Dallas Cowboys can beat us) and taking our deficiencies to the extreme is ridiculous. I can expect the SEC comments if you're a Buffalo or Carolina fan, but c'mon, we 4-2 with a tough part of schedule behind, no more Pennsylvania teams on our schedule (unless the NFL adopts a Harrisburg team), and still have realistic shot at a division title and at least a first-round bye Edited October 18, 2010 by ATLfanatic
rkw0021
I'm not worried at at all. The bird are resilient, they'll adjust and I'm looking at my printed out schedule and I see a lot more W's than L's.RISE UP!!!

That was with a Michael Vick who never studied or applied himself at the position. Last year we were 4-1 and finished 9-7 missing the playoffs. I have seen nothing from this Falcons team to make me believe they will win many of the games you ASSume we will win. We are dayum lucky we are not 2-4 with the abysmal offense we have seen to date. Our coaching was exposed yesterday. We will be lucky to finish at 9-7 again this year. The blueprint is out on exposing our defense. The offense has been terrible against every team but Arizona. I think that about covers it.

I think that about covers it.We also lost 4 other games against them, 2 in the playoffs. They just have our number regardless who we have but they have their own issues with the remaining schedule as I mentioned. As far as starting 4-1 and finishing 9-7 last season, injuries (notably Ryan, Turner amongst others as well as much tougher schedule than this year-playing the a better NFC East last year and AFC East compared to NFC West and AFC North this year) We finished with 3 straight wins which gave us some offseason momentum to start off better than expected this year given the tough opening (we would have been ok with a 3-3 start if you included the loss to the Saints). And lastly, I want you to tell me where 9-7 will happen this year with the remaining schedule. We are a totally different team at home record-wise, at most we lose 2 home games, which I think we can win them all. And don't tell me we can't get at least 2 wins at Seattle, St. Louis, Carolina and Tampa Bay. So that's 10-6 at the absolute worst we can finish, with 12-4 more likely and 13-3 not out of the realm of possiblility. Where were you in 1998 when we started 5-1 only to get mutilated by a Jets team 28-3 "exposing the team" only to rattle off 9 straight wins to finish the season. Not saying we're gonna finish 14-2, but lucky to finish 9-7? In the words of Cris Carter, "CMON MAN!"

4dabirds
It was the eagles and we haven't beaten them since 05 or 06 from what I'm hearing. Why are people so surprised that we got spanked?I'm not surprised we got beat, but I was surprised at how lack luster the team played. That was a flat and immature effort that went on out there. I hate losing another one to the eagles, especially that way. To many mistakes by solid players that are better than that. Major choke, major fail.
