crankdatfalcon
how is it considered a curse not having 3 back to back winning seasons???not many teams can say they have 3 winning seasons back to back.
sourdiesal
Proud isn't the right word..We used to always be compared to the Saints.. The two lovable losers from the South.. Now that they have reached the ultimate goal (my stomach knots up again just thinking about it)we can no longer take pleasure in such mediocre goals... schwarzenegger321
Is having three consecutive winning seasons something in which to be proud?Any time you have a winning record in the NFL it is a success. Good programs/teams put together streaks of winning seasons. Exceptional (elite) teams put together seasons of 11 - 5 or better years in a row. Look at the Steelers, who IMO have one of the best organizations (owners, front offices) in the NFL. They have had what 4 losing seasons in the last 20 years. During that span they have won 2 superbowls, but only had 3 or 4 seasons I think where they won 11 or more games during the regular season. The point is that a good football team is constructed by having a good front office and owner and putting together winning season. That is the true litmus of a good team. It is too easy for a team to get beat in one game, so titles are important, but your not going to win the superbowl or go to the playoffs every year. Its like with the Braves and being happy with just winning the div. Or the UGA fans are satisfied with just getting a bowl game. Its time for Ga sports to raise its standards. falconidae
Yes, in the sense that the other goals of the team can't be accomplished without having a winning record. Can't make the playoffs without a winning record, can't win a playoff game without getting to the playoffs; can't make a deep playoff run without winning a playoff game; can't win the super bowl without a deep playoff run. Winning programs that field good teams over long periods of time would find little comfort in this kind of thing. Of greater importance is team ownership placing a premium of program stability, hiring the right coaches and installing a program that accepts nothing short of fielding a winner. Pittsburgh comes to mind, the Saints and Falcons of old do not.It seems to me both New Orleans and Atlanta have found this chemistry under current ownership and winning streaks will take care of themselves over the coming years. At the end of the day, it's not winning seasons, winning streaks, etc. It's about winning traditions and championships. Walk into the Steelers, 49'ers, Patriots, Cowboys or Redskins front lobbies and you'll see this. Every program has the lean years, but some have suffered through them much longer than they should have. It starts with Ownership.SaintRay

Sure, but the Falcons haven't been one of those teams traditionally, so I think we will find comfort in it.If I had thought this team was a serious contender in preseason, I guess I would feel differently. So far, the team is about what I expected.
