My thoughts on the game

These are my thoughts without going back and looking at the game again yet... ill just touch a couple of things

First of all... Philly just outplayed us and out coached us... I have to give their props... This game was coached very good by philly.

John Abraham: Most asked where was the pass rush this game... Well Philly took it away... Abe wasnt shutout because he wasnt ready... They made our D-Line react instead of attack... The Eagles slowed down Abe with running the ball and the gadget plays (reverse)... He wasnt able to attack the whole game because they kept our D guessing the whole game.

KC had the same gameplan against Freeney to slow him down.

Matt Ryan: Matt Ryan did not have as rough (bad) of day as it seem... Matt Ryan should have finished that game with 3 TD's easily.... I dont know what happen with that Gonzalez tip int play... That was a good throw..

Dunta Robinson: That was a clean hit... Desean Jackson caught the ball then took 2 steps so how can he be defenseless.... It wasnt a helmet to helmet either.... I just dont get it... I feel like his coverage skills was missed when he was out (looked like 2009)

Tony G: He had 2 TD's but this was not his best day... He dropped an easy 3rd down catch and he also cause that ints... We could have went into half time down 7 (21-14)

Michael Jenkins: Dude balled out for his 1st game back... I was pissed he wasnt about to get that 1 yard to have his first 100 yard game.

Thomas Deoud: He has to play more consistent... He had a very good games against the browns but was not good this game.

Peria Jerry: It was nice to see him get a sack.

I dont know did we come in the game overly confident but we got beat up plain and simple... Lets learn from it and move on. If i had to place blame... The D just didnt show up at all today.... To win on the road... The D has to show up.

Now this is to the fans... It was 1 game... Games like this happens...We lost to a good team at there house... We have things to fix but no need to panic... We are still in 1st place in the NFC South.

I think DeCoud took the wrath for Owens' mistake. DeCoud was suppose to be safety help, Owens blew the entire play by doing the wrong thing. They are young, so it's expected.

I still don't understand dropping Abe and Peters into coverage.

Why are we even trying to teach Peters to drop into coverage? He's a rookie, how bout we just teach him to play the DT position first instead of throwing as much at him as possible.

The D showed up. They just got out schemed. They were confused. The Atlanta coaches didn't have them ready. The first 2 TD's were a result of scheme, not showing up.

What troubles most fans that follow the Falcons closely is we saw these tendencies (playcalling, Ryan shaky, suspect pass rush)all through the first 5 games and Sunday it all came to a head. We were 4-1 and I did not feel good about it despite what some on these boards were saying. Teams will study this film and this is why we need to be concerned. You cannot win in this decade in this league with a run first offense. You have to run the ball of course, but when you decide to allow drive after drive to stall rather than design a scheme to get in the end zone this is what you get.. We can beat the bottom half of the league with this style, but the better teams are going to exploit our lack of game planning. We must be so easy to scout. This team is not built for the playoffs with the current coordinators.

If Mike Smith is unwilling to make coaching changes TD might have to have a heart to heart with him, because unlike other years TD has brought in the talent and there is no excuse for what happened yesterday. After those years with the Patriots I have a hard time wondering how TD can stand by and watch this..

Agree with VA. I'm really feeling like our coordinators are just not up to the job. Some of BVG's schemes may have worked in college, but it gets us blown out. This is the third time we played the Eagles and we still could not figure them out. It's like we get progressively worse each time we play them, and our coordinators are simply not smart enough to find their weaknesses and come up with a winning scheme.

They need to cut all those plays out. Our DL needs to focus on getting to the QB/RB. Not trying to cover.

I say we trade Ryan before the deadline and bring Vick back if thats possible. Ryan is not the answer. If Turner isnt running up and down the field against weak teams. Ryan is horrible. Im outraged, its not the coaching staff its Ryan.

I agree we were outplayed/outcoached in every facet of the game, with the possible exception of placekicking. Much of that was due to emotion and energy as opposed to a big discrepancy in talent and preparation.

It seems to me that Decoud gets beat over the top way to often. I am tiered of seeing this guy in pass coverage. He gets caught in the wrong position far to often and it's hurting the team. Everyone is so high on this guy for what reasons i can't fathom. His hands are horrible, he has about one pass a game hit him in the hands and he just can't catch it. The only thing he offers is strong tackling ability and even then he some times forgets to wrap up. I'm of the opinion we are better of with Coleman in there. It just adds to the list of missing pieces we need to go out and get.

Yeah.... this loss was all about getting outcoached and outschemed.

It was also a GREAT example of how other teams do it and we don't.

You don't understand football- Ryan sucks. Really, 24-12 as a starter, 9 game winning drives.

You don't watch the games- Ryan won the last 3 games of last year, including beating the Jets in NY, without Turner.
