Radiohead
Musgrave is a great coach and has an excellent relationship with Matt Ryan.Furthermore, he might be the single most important person in Ryan's development and future. Go ahead and make the change that needs to happen.Musgrave was getting offers to be a Head Coach in one report and a lot of O.C. positions, but he stuck around because he knew that seat was getting warm on Mularkey. No better time than now. dmite
How did Musgrave do as the OC for the Jaguars in 2003 and 2004?Never mind, I looked it up.In 2003, they ranked 25th in the league in points. 12th in yards. In 2004, they ranked 29th in the league in points. 21st in yards. Dr_truth189
That was also the Jags. When was the last time they had An elite wide receiver. A HoF tight end. And a Pro bowl material Qb and Rb?Is there any sort of petition I can sign to help relieve MM of his duties? I mean really someone please go watch film of Matt Ryan in college. And then come back and tell me he doesn't go down field enough. Its the Terrible play calling and I am tired of losing games we should because of them.Sure its not the end of the world no one game is. But this 1 game could help us say possibly rest some starters before the play offs.

I just hope it happens soon because our window is as big as its gonna get. Edited October 18, 2010 by Dr_truth189

falken
Why don't we let Jay Adams take over the defense as well. He's almost as qualified as Musgrave and seems to get along well with the players.

Dr_truth189
ryan needs a better lineThanks for watching those videos. The dude has an arm and isn't scared to throw downfield. Somethings wrong and I don't think it's him. Maybe its the fact that if you gotta pick yourself up off the ground every other play. That makes your head a little fuzzy. I dunno if I would want to hold on the ball very long then either.

Dr_truth189
well that's college he's now in the pros different game he's still a young quarterback.Him being a Young Qb has nothing to do with it anymore. And Sure you can make the that was college this is the NFL argument, but let me counter with a few points.Sure its a giant leap to the NFL but its not like any qb just comes into the Nfl after playing a certain way their entire career, which in Ryan's case was lots of deep throws, and then show up and just want to stop going deep. Look at the way he is commanding the pocket. No fear because he trusts his men. Stand in Keeps his eyes down field. And has a great ability to plant and throw. When you go into the no huddle the offense is planned out pre-game in practice. There are certain plays and formations that the offense is suited to line up and run. So it depends on all the plays that MM makes available and gets the offense to practice. Then Ryan chooses from those It's not like the Colts offense per say where everything is no huddle, and Manning has the entire playbook to choose from. Last No matter what scout or analyst or whoever you talk to. (Although some are out right brain dead) Most will Agree Ryan is one of the best Qb's to come into the league possibly of all time, and just click. No matter how dumb some of them are their JOB is to sit there and evaluate these players. They get paid to do it. All I'm saying is blame Ryan all you want. But the people who actually study these Players as a profession all seem to disagree with him being the "problem" Edited October 18, 2010 by Dr_truth189

blizzard_falcon
ryan needs a better lineI agree. I think he was so inaccurate at times yesterday because their pass rush was hitting him over and over, especially early on. Getting hits on the quarterback like that can really disrupt an offense's rhythm.Conversely, we barely touched Kevin Kolb, and he had a near-perfect game. Radiohead
Point is, he knows the offense and Matt Ryan very well. Will he be perfect, no. Just like I said in the thread, but the time to make this change would be over the bye week.Ryan seems to almost always be on page with Musgrave and they have a pretty good relationship. Optimus*Crimes
Jeez, you guys drive me bonkers..."Lets change the OC 6 games into the season!" Nevermind that we are 4-2, nevermind that we are 1st in the division. This season is obviously lost, so we should make the change now. That will give us a jump on next year's season... phattywankenobi
How is Musgrave qualified? He's barely been an OC in the past and it did not go well at all.Being mad at Mularkey is one thing but don't go from bad to worse.

dmite
He was OC in Pittsburgh and had pretty good success. You're thinking of Mularkey. Musgrave was only the OC at Carolina (2000), Virgina for 2 years, and Jacksonville for 2 years. Edited October 18, 2010 by dmite
vel
If we fire Mularkey who do we get? I think we give Ryan and MM a better line his offseason as well as a few more explosive pieces before we make coordinator changes. Say what you want about Dahl and Clabo but neither are the best pass blockers but give us a sense of power when we run the ball. That is a mistake for Ryan's talents. That is like giving Manning an OLine that is better at run blocking.
