BCEagleATLFalcon
That was easily the most disappointing and maddening game I've ever been to as a sports fan. Excruciatingly painful to sit there and watch an implosion in every phase of the game from a team I know is capable of SO much more. I generally consider myself one of the most optimistic fans out there, but I just can't summon that right now.We had a chance to really prove something today, and instead, we looked like a JV squad that had no idea which end was up. I feel bad for my friend who had to deal with my outbursts after the huge defensive gaffes; I feel bad for the little girl in front of me who I didn't realize was there and who heard some exceedingly terrible language from me on yet another stalled offensive drive; I feel bad that I didn't even get to deliver any of the comebacks I had ready for those obnoxious Eagles fans I kept hearing about because all those fans were too joyous to be obnoxious. It'll look better tomorrow, maybe. But d*mn, did that one sting.Good night, everybody.

I've been a fan for over twenty years, and I know you love our Birds as much as I do.As a twenty-plus year fan of this team, I'm truly sorry that you had to experience this phase of Falcon fandom live. Being in that stadium for that game must have added ten years of Falcon futility fandom to you.Welcome to the "old timers" club.
DavyDmx
I'm sorry you had to witness such a bad performance in hostile territory (I'm sure those Iggle fans gave you ****). I'm also glad you made it back safe and hope we rebound against Cincy.
KSFALCON
were you in a jersey, cause I was and got called an A-hole, got flipped off, was told I had an attitude problem, but made it out without any injuries...First game I'd ever been to and did not have a great time watching the freaking eagles continue to score
nobkowski
yesterday's game reminded me of when we were back in the div. with the rams and 49's and this happened all the time.Of all the teams this had to happen against, two years in a row !!! I really feel awful.
falconidae
Well, at least the team, and it's fans, escaped philly healthy.
Supes™
It stung like a hornet, BCE, and left many of us "optimistic" fans reeling in disappointment and wondering how it went down the way it did. The Falcons were so inept that I'm still wondering how we managed to put up 17 points? How did THAT happen?Atrocious on both sides of the ball we were, and the Eagles played very well as they always do against us.Here's what we can do: we can call that game our "mulligan" for the season, put it behind us and forget about it. Of course there's no guarantee that we won't see that kind of pathetic performance again this year, but for now we can believe that we won't and that any future losses will be hard-fought battles instead of taking the field with surrender flags flying, which seemed to be the case yesterday..The NFC is wide open and a 4-2 record is still amongst the best. If we can handle the Bengals at home and hit the bye 5-2, we're still in very good shape with lots of football to be played, starting after the bye with the Bucs who got throttled yesterday by the Saints. I hate it that you had to witness that "effort" live, but glad to hear you were left alone in your misery by the Eagles fans. Even Eagles fans are people and are capable of some degree of compassion and my guess is they just felt sorry for you.
dilkin
Glad ya made it out. I was at that game in Buffalo in 92 when the Falcons were down 35-7 at the half. Not 100% sure on that score. I did get to see Deion return a kickoff for a TD, that was a highlight. But anyway, watching a butt kicking is not fun.

I really feel awful. :ph34r:Yes, I was and am shocked at how similar the Eagles game was to the aforementioned old west division rivals. We were outplayed, outcoached and more. Very disapointed at the enitre effort. We looked unprepared. Maybe we are not so good.
vafalconfan
Glad you made it back safe and hopefully you did not have any beer spilled on you. My in-laws who are not eagles fans live in NJ on the state line which is a short drive and they refuse to go to any games there because of the hostility they had experienced before and really to most visiting fans. Sad it's like it is, but I guess if you live in philly you're basically unhappy all the time..
AtlFan1971
I try to go to 1 or 2 away games each year, and any time we lose it is hard to stomach for the next several days. I had thought about flying up to see this game and I am glad now that I chose to stay as I think I would have been too bumed about the lack of discipline and coaching yesterday. This is hard to say (especially the way we played yesterday), but this was 1 loss and our record is still at the top of the NFC and it is better than the Eagles, so if we can bounce back and get a win against the Bengals we go 5 and 2 into a bye and hopefully get some of the back, knee, ankle injuries time to heal and come back ready to play who knows. This team has the ability to play great but yesterday was terribly painful to watch in all facets of the game. One high note - MJ12 looked pretty good, so hopefully he along with White, Gonzo, Turner and Ryan can get us back on track. The most insulting thing that was said to me all weekend was said by a troll here on the boards, not by anyone at the game! I think it might be what Supes mentioned: the people around me were having compassion on a fan whose team was being soundly, soundly beaten. And I greatly appreciated that!I'm doing my best work on "perspective" today. Would be easier if I didn't have that d*mn Eagles chant they play after every score still echoing in my head (Fly Eagles Fly, on the road to victory, yada, yada, yada ).But it's over. Done. We're 4-2, and we are NOT the team I saw yesterday. I am going to obey the 24 hour rule and do my best to stop obsessing over it in exactly an hour and a half. I'll see our boys again in Tampa ... and until then, there's lots of football to be played.Deep breath. Smitty's team has never looked completely flustered two weeks in a row. Let's set our sights on 5-2 and 16-1 (when healthy) at the Dome.

Just be glad Vick didn't play, Jackson got hurt and Shaky Akers missed three FGs, cause it would have been even worse.I am resting comfortably today and you could be too had you checked with me.4-2, still in first in the NFCS with a lot of home games coming up. Rest easy maam. Rest easy.We shall rise again. Trust me.
jonnyblooz
BC,How about shedding some light on something: Did I hear the fans booing when Dunta Robinson got up off the turf?I know I heard the roar when DJackson got up, and I didn't expect much applause for Drob, but it sounded like pretty loud booing that he was ok.Can you confirm? Hashbrown3
Thanks for heading up there for us BC. If that wasn't a character building session, then nothing is. In fact, after this ordeal, your character might look like a sky scraper at this stage...
