skynyrd04
We get Cincy at home next week, a very winnable game. Then we get Tampa twice, Car twice. Injury riddled Green Bay has to come to the Dome. We also get to play the Rams and Seahawks. If we dropped one of these games we'd be at 11 wins. And that's if we don't beat NO or Bal in either of the games we have with them. That'll make the playoffs easily. Don't let this loss get ya down, there's alot of Football to go. sporkdevil
I agree, we will finish North of 4-12, but man that loss stings. No bright spots outside Jerry's first sack and Jenkins having his best pro game.Man, we really need Dunta back, because Chris Owens CAN NOT be starting. Don't let this loss get ya down, there's alot of Football to go.That is one positive, a lot of home games and the only difficult games left being the Ravens & Saints... rest are winnable (Bengals, Bucs twice, Panthers twice, Packers, Rams, Seahawks). But that doesn't change the fact that the offense has been pretty stagnant and lacks the ability to have explosive plays (no one to stretch the field and keep defenses honest). Also our Defense has been a bit of smoke & mirrors, looking good against Dennis Dixon, Derek Anderson, Alex Smith, Jake Delhomme / Seneca Wallace but giving up big plays against decent offenses (Drew Bees Saints & Kevin Kolb Eagles). The playoffs are attainable but are we really a contender for a Super Bowl? Edited October 18, 2010 by MilleniumFalcon
skynyrd04
Exactly. When I looked at the schedule when it came out I didn't have us winning in Philly. But you what? I didn't have us winning the SuperDome either. 4-2 through 6 games is good, and if the playoffs started tmw. We'd be in.
terrence0258
Cincinnati's defense can be dominant at times. The offense is going to struggle again next week.

The offense is going to struggle again next week. They're going to be coming off a bye which is a huge advantage. They have a lot of talent at the skill positions (TO, Ocho Cino and Gresham).I can see this being a very tough game for the Falcons but a game they should win if they want to prove they belong. sporkdevil
What are you talking about? Dunta is overrated and we don't need him. Right???Man, people had crazy expectations for Dunta. You can see how our D was last year after Dunta went out. We got no pressure, had trouble in coverage, and their offense walked all over us. Whether or not he has 10 picks for the year, his injury shows our lacking CB depth.

We'd be in.It's good that you are all happy about where we stand but the truth is we are in trouble. Our OC gets his plays out of Offenses for dummies book, and every defense is reading it to game plan. At this point I wouldn't be surprised to see a team put 11 men in the box, because i don't know that we could take advantage of it even if they did. Do you remember from the Browns game when the announcer said it's like the browns defense knows whats coming. that's because everyone with an IQ above their shoe size does. It's Turner to the right for 1 yard, Turner to the left for 1 yard, Ryan throws the ball away to avoid a Sack.(Falcons Punt)

Africanfalconsfan
I totally agree that this is just one loss and we're in great position at this point. I mean, look at the cowboys at 1 and 4... things could definitely be worse. BUT, we really need to improve our offense and our blitz scheme on defense because the playoffs are 1 and out, you get no chance to go back home watch film and make adjustments. WE NEED TO FIX THIS NOW... or we won't make it very far if we make it into the playoffs.
Guest James H.
The Falcons have not beat the Eagles in Philly since 1988... a win would have rocked, but it isn't a loss to panic over.

skynyrd04
What makes you think we are going to sweep Carolina and Tampa?Tampa we might not beat twice. But as far as Carolina goes - I've watched them. They suck. And good point above where someone said we could be like the Cowboys and be baisically out of it already. Count your blessings. And has anyone stopped to think an embarrassing loss like this might just be the wake up call we need to forget the hype and refocus the team? the_sheff
I wish we could focus on getting better so we can beat good teams instead of being happy that we have crappy teams on the schedule.

BCEagleATLFalcon
I agree that we should make the play-offs given the schedule. But if we don't correct some of the atrocious play and play-calling I had to watch today, we'll be one and done.

An exposing, ugly beatdown.I shouldn't even be posting right now; I need to let it wear off a bit before I'm seeing clearly. We CAN be infinitely better than what we saw today. pzummo
Is it just me, or do we always look slower than our opposition on outdoor fields?!? Our offense and defense don't ever play as well outdoors. Ryan's passes are off, our RB's are not as explosive, our LBers are not running downhill, and our DB's don't close on the ball as well. We really are just mediocre when we are not on artificial turf. I thought it game 1 at Pittsburgh. I thought it at Cleveland. And we looked slow again today. It's like our shoes are getting stuck in the mud. At home vs SF, Arizona, and at New Orleans we looked like we were flying around. Even though we didn't score a lot vs SF, our offense and defense still looked fast. Much faster than they looked today.
